Paul M 10-15-2006 04:29 PM

Revert the template changes yes.

Stunner 10-15-2006 04:30 PM

ok its removed off my FTP... and im still getting the same error

ChavMagnet 10-15-2006 04:58 PM

upload tools.php into your root and run it http://www.yoursite.com/tools.php and select reset admin .

Stunner 10-15-2006 05:03 PM

ok and where do i find tools.php to upload it?

manguish 10-15-2006 08:47 PM

Download it from the vb members center.

Code Monkey 10-15-2006 08:52 PM

It should be in your original download under a section that is not for uploading. Once you are done with tools.php remove it immediately.

Shazz 10-15-2006 08:57 PM

You can't login into your adminCP with tools.php ... It tells you to remove it, But why is it so bad?
It requires a Customer Number before you can access tools.php
Why would it be a threat?

Kirk Y 10-15-2006 09:08 PM

Because someone else could enter their customer number. ;)

Never heard someone getting the customer number some how...

Kirk Y 10-15-2006 09:37 PM

I'm saying another vBulletin Customer could use their Customer Number.

The customer number you install on your site, is the only customer number you can use to upgrade or use tools.php etc.
Someone else can't use their customer number your site.

Kirk Y 10-16-2006 01:47 AM

Uhh... no. That's not true. I know this because a not so friendly, friend, of ours used their Customer Number to downgrade our Forum. Granted, it didn't do anything aside change the version number - he did it never the less.

On the 3.6.x I swear this dosen't work

GYSMO 10-16-2006 02:22 AM

hmmmm did that once and know how you do feel now heheheh

this is what i did to cure that problem first i did logged into the MySQL database on my server and readded the 1,6, user field that was removed when i did banned myself out compleatly and all was back in few seconds

then i went into that config sheet and kept alive that undelleat user field and never did encounter any prob since smiles

have a nice day

I dont think so.

Shazz 10-16-2006 03:01 AM

Also if this was true
/install/upgrade.php
Would work on any site then. Which it dosen't... You have to have the customer number that goes with that personal vbulletin.

FACT
Did you know that any pirated vBulletin or someone elses vBulletin has to work with that Customer number?
It can't work with any

Kirk Y 10-16-2006 11:00 AM

We could argue until we're blue in the face, but it won't change the fact that he did it. Perhaps it has since been fixed in 3.6.x - I don't know, all I can say is that it at one point it was at least possible.

DaNIEL MeNTED 10-16-2006 12:13 PM

You may also want to set your admin user as uneditable in the config file...

If this theory was true... Then anyone could access this

http://vbshazz.com/install/upgrade.php

or for the 3.5.4 try

http://nflpokerclub.com/install/upgrade.php

Will your own customer number work?

Ntfu2 10-17-2006 02:35 AM

Its really not true shazz, never has worked and never will work without knowing the customer number associated with the liscense number
