Vbulletin running too SLOW!
Hey guys my vbulletin is running very slow and I know it is the server. Is there any thing that I can speed it up. I think , but Im not sure that I saw something that you add as a mod or something to cut load times in half?
Thanks in advance for any help:) |

Yes thankyou for you great input. But I am looking for something that cuts down the loading time, a mod or something maybe except a new server. |
I don't think there is a mod for that. Is your database large?
|
No my database is not large, but I know theres something out there that is a mod that speeds the forum up.
Also some guy says he can do modifications to my forum for some money , can you do that to make it faster? |
Spend some time learning about the software before paying somebody for mods. There are a ton of mods available on this site. Search through the mods for what you think will help your site. There are no real mods to make you loads faster. There is one that will kinda work in IE, but it isn't going to help with other browsers. There is nothing to fix a slow server other than a new server.

I would get off godaddy's shared servers ASAP. I have not heard very good reviews from them.
|
Why? I know they are a little slow and I do backups every night just in case. With my other basic sites just html there fine, but with my vbulletin its kind of slow at times, but at times its faster than this site, yes faster.

What host do you guys think I should get then that is reasonably cheap?

How cheap are we talking?

Like I am willing to pay 20-30 dollars maximum a month. All I want is it to run fast. I hate this waiting and sometimes it doesn't even load cause it takes like a minute to load.

A possible solution here leads to a question of my own. 1st of all, are you regularly optimising your database? I have found this dramatically improves the performance on my own board.
Secondly my own question: Does anyone know how/if it is possible to schedule this task to run automatically? At present I use phpMyAdmin to optimise the database tables, and due to the installation of several hacks it needs to be done daily. |
