Talkerbot V2.2.1 (AI Posting Bot)

Talker Bot Hack v2.2.1
Hack By: Tim (eXtremeTim) Yarbrough
Website: www.extremechatforums.com
Original: by: C-birch
Credits: Rapid Gaming (for porting it to vb3)

What This Hack Does.

This hack add a userlike bot to your forums. You can set which forum he will post in and how often he will reply to poeples posts. He will try and build his replies off the text that they posted. This bot will learn overtime slowly from your users posts.

Whats new in 2.2.1?

Added rate of posting back in.
fixed a bug when posting as the bots username and when a guest was posting

To Upgrade From 2.2.0:

Overwrite the current product. Upload ewt_talkerbot.php

To Upgrade From A Previous Version:

Just follow the install steps in the files becuase yea there was no prior version for vb3.5 so you should have no file edits to redo.

This version is much cleaner overall then all the previous version. I have removed a good deal of the code in the core alice bot that used to cuase errors. I have moved all the control settings into the admincp. Plus many other things including a much cleaner ewt_talkerbot.php file then the original _talkerbot.php file.

About v3

Yes version 3 is still being planned to be remade. I had it finished at one point only to lose it when my computer was stolen a while back. So now im planning even more stuff for version 3. I will post information about v3 later.

AIML File:

I need aiml files. If you know where to get them or have a bunch you can send me please contact me via pm on here so I can get the files. (Needing more for the base package and some to start playing with the aiml sharing features of v3 ;))

Hmm gonna give this a try will edit when installed, thanks for this.

eXtremeTim 09-12-2006 12:40 AM

You are welcome. Enjoy it. ;)

Ski-Whiz 09-12-2006 12:49 AM

Thanks!!

Question, the rate of posting is removed? This mean he will post 100% in only certain forums?

I haven't installed this just yet, but will in a few minutes.

eXtremeTim 09-12-2006 12:51 AM

He will post 100% in the forums you tell him to post in. I had to remove the option to prepare for V3.0. He can read all forums still and only post in designated forums.

Planning a possible temp global control for him tonight. Or else I might end up temporarily bringing back the rate of post option if I see a demand for it. ;)

Zowners 09-12-2006 01:07 AM

so the * feature wont work where it says * will enale bot to post in all forums?

username12 09-12-2006 01:12 AM

Not feasible to enable this just yet, but it looks good and installs without problem.

Zowners 09-12-2006 01:16 AM

ahh Ok I mudt have something wrong cause mine went haywire when I tried to run install file..

eXtremeTim 09-12-2006 01:22 AM

No the only feature not in this right now that we were talking about was the ability to control the percentage of the time that he will post.

Zowners 09-12-2006 01:31 AM

well got it down to one error but cant find it anyone can help?

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '/' in /home/dntforum/public_html/forum/alice/src/admin/dbprefs.php on line 40

bada_bing 09-12-2006 01:41 AM

Wow this is cool.. I would love to learn more about how others are going to use this and how well his resposes are... Would love to install this on a couple of my sites.

eXtremeTim 09-12-2006 01:55 AM

Also i have just now released version 2.2.1

eXtremeTim 09-12-2006 02:40 AM

updated zip

If already downloaded please replace the ewt_talkerbot.php file with the new one.

Zia 09-12-2006 03:13 AM

hahahahah haha its really interesting...

does it support vb3.6.0 ?
does it have any pre-defined db from where it will reply?
and it will act as registerd user and this user will show as online user ?

eXtremeTim 09-12-2006 03:26 AM

user does not show up online, does take on a real vbulletin user account. There is a 3.6 version released as well. ;)

Showing up in the online user list is planned to possible be done tonight when the bot is enabled. :)

Snake 09-12-2006 07:09 AM

Thanks for this. :)

hugh_ 09-12-2006 01:23 PM

My bot misses out some words in replies occasionally and other times replies more than once...

Missing words: http://gaming.extremechatforums.com/...3&postcount=18

Several replies: http://gaming.extremechatforums.com/...9&postcount=14

Are these known problems?

SnickersTK 09-12-2006 03:39 PM

I have followed your guides, but the talk.html does not work (when you input, it redirects you to a blank page of talk.php) and it does not show up on the forum, posting. Even though I have set the setting for user id and forum id :(

eXtremeTim 09-12-2006 08:38 PM

Im still working on figuring out why the bot doesnt always reply correctly. Its a problem in the core engine tho.

username12 09-12-2006 09:31 PM

Looks a lot better with the rate. Have a couple issues.

First a suggestion. Any way to have mass forum rate as an option so that all forums can be set to one rate?

The other is that I'm not sure if it needs time to learn or not, but it always replies with:

Quote:

Im sorry but I was not able to form a reply right now

eXtremeTim 09-12-2006 09:44 PM

I will be posting a full set of debug steps later tonight becuase this is a complex script. So please give me a bit.

Zowners 09-12-2006 10:39 PM

Still getting Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '/' in /home/dntforum/public_html/forum/alice/src/admin/dbprefs.php on line 40

Any Ideas?

kofoid 09-12-2006 10:48 PM

OK 1st the good - I love you Tim

Now the bad - FINALLY, MAN! LOL ;)

eXtremeTim 09-13-2006 01:12 AM

This hack took alot of work to get it where it is and working how it does right now. V3 is going to be a massive overhual where I will be rewriting the whole core engine of the bot to make it compatible with vbulletin and with the code I will be making to support multiple bots.

dturnbull 09-13-2006 07:08 AM

This will just kill all those paid posting services :P (if the quality posts is good enough)

Jenkins 09-13-2006 12:36 PM

anyone have a link to a board using it? I'd like to see it in action.

kofoid 09-13-2006 08:52 PM

Hey Tim - could you explain how to set this up on another DB... I don't want to use my vb DB

inkdot 09-14-2006 08:34 AM

Is this an upgrade? I tried installing this without installing the previous version and it's having a problem connecting to mysql.

"DONE LOADING
Inserted 0 categories into database"

I have installed an old 2.0.2 version long ago but uinstalled it upon realizing the hack is for vb 3.0. My vB version is 3.5.4 btw. I also have 'bot' and 'bots' entries in my database but dropped them before installing this hack.

I hope someone can help me out.

yeah I am still bumbing =/

Extreme John 09-14-2006 03:19 PM

installed it yesterday but the bot still isnt posting. i got all the settings right still no clue why. i checked the db and the bots table seem to be empty i should see an entry here right?

Intex 09-14-2006 05:30 PM

Hi eXtremeTim - nice work on the port to 3.5.

I already have ALICE integrated as part of Flashchat. Do you know if there's any issue with running both in parallel? Do I just need to ensure that there's not the same database tables? What are the names of the tables in your hack?

I think that is the same I am experiencing

eXtremeTim 09-14-2006 06:36 PM

I will address issues posted here later tonight when i get some free time. You can also all check the thread for this hack in the 3.6 forum since it its basicly the same code and the same issues. V2.2.2 is planned and will hopefully be released tonight bringing more features and some bugfixes.

inkdot 09-14-2006 09:47 PM

I finally got it to work. The problem was dbprefs.php. Instead of putting '/home/content/...', I used an http url.
Thanks eXtremeTim for the hack. It looks good so far :)

Extreme John 09-15-2006 02:11 AM

Is it common for the bot to have responses like this (and this is one response):

Oh, you are a poet.
My brain contains more than 22,000 patterns, but not one that matches your last input.
Perhaps I'm just expressing my own concern about it.
A deeper algorithm is needed to respond to that correctly.Wow you are very polite.

But your response was so original.
I only hear that type of response less than five percent of the time.

to Posts like this:

no, no, NO...nicknames for him.. Just Dingy Chris...Ding bat, ding dong...please just no DC

Thats what seems to be happening often.

moonclamp 09-15-2006 11:15 PM

Hi

I'm trying to run ... /alice/src/admin/botloader.php but all I'm getting is a 500 internal server configuration error.

EDIT:

So, I reuploaded the Alice folder without chmodding and this time it seems to be working

moonclamp 09-15-2006 11:23 PM

I'm also getting this when I try to update my forums:

Quote:

MySQL Error : Unknown column 'mimicbotrop' in 'field list'
Could this be something to do with me using table prefixes?

Anyway I added the column manually

eXtremeTim 09-16-2006 01:57 AM

Yes thats a bug thats fixed in the release im working hard to try and finish up right now. I forgot to add in the table prefix on the product file.
