vbDrupal NG

vbDrupal is a fork from the Drupal CMS which integrates Drupal with the vBulletin forum software.
This is the stable release of the next generation of the vbDrupal project. This generation is much more compatible with the stock Drupal releases than the previous generation. It has been rebuild from the ground up taking into account everything that we learned from the previous generation.
All third party modules and themes for Drupal should also work with this version of vbDrupal.

This version of vbDrupal is based on Drupal version 4.7.8.
It has been designed to work with vBulletin versions 3.5 and 3.6.

More information and install and update instructions can be found in the README.html file included with this package.

For support, tips and trick, etc. please go to our forums.

So how is this product different from the vB Drupal: Community Plumbing (CMS + Blogs) product?
This is pretty much a complete reimplementation of the concept. The previous generation suffered from some design issues making it difficult for users to use various 3rd party modules. Also this version is based on Drupal 4.7 where the previous generation used Drupal 4.6.

Thanks I will give it a go :p

How do I uninstall it apart removing the plugin ?

TIA

Awesome, i've been watching development of this and waiting for its offical release :woot:

The Chief 08-25-2006 03:23 PM

Can we upgrade from our current vB Drupal 4.6 version?

wizardan 08-25-2006 03:27 PM

I took this opportunity to finally experiment with Drupal.
Installation seems to have been flawless.

One problem...

This error message when I try and customize stuff...

Am I missing something simple?

Snake 08-25-2006 05:36 PM

Thanks. I'll check this out soon...

Oddjob 08-25-2006 07:32 PM

Yes. But be sure to test it out on a copy of your site first. More information can be found in the README.html document under "update"

Ok, cool, I should be upgrading rather soon then :)

Can you give us a list of modules that have been tested and working for vB Drupal NG?

rickycc 08-26-2006 12:57 PM

does this project work with photopost and visionscript interactive profile? I think this is a great area, I would like to install it on my current site if it can be upgraded.

thanks,

They should all work, just make sure you download the 4.7 version of the modules. So far I haven't heard of a module that didn't work.
A word of caution, make sure you replace all your 3rd party modules in your old site with new versions made for 4.7 otherwise you might get various errors. That's why you should test the upgrade on a test install version.

It should work with all 3.5 and 3.6 versions. It just that I develop it using the latest 3.5 version and use it on my own site which uses the latest (stable) 3.6 version. So I don't really test it for older versions, but Jelsoft's track record shows they hardly ever change something in stable versions that break plugins, specially not the plugins used by vbDrupal.

oz_moses 08-28-2006 11:30 AM

Cheers, I'll be installing this shortly.

Just one question though, wtf is NG?? :)

NG usually stands for Next Generation

Joep11 08-29-2006 11:19 AM

The report page after the upgrade had some errors in it; the page is attached as a zip cause I cannot upload a html file here ^_^ Search ctrl-F for 'failed'. The blogs also still don't work http://www.wereldwijzer.nl/blog/

Does anyone have a clue? I installed it on 3.6

Already asked it on vbdrupal.org yesterday but we have no answer yet and the blogs are quite important for us :(

Sorry for that, I don't always have time. So it might take a (short) while before I can answer all questions.

daystorm 08-30-2006 12:14 AM

When I try to install the plugin, I get this error:

Database error in vBulletin 3.5.4:

Invalid SQL:
CREATE TABLE drupal_access (
aid tinyint(10) NOT NULL auto_increment,
mask varchar(255) NOT NULL default '',
`type` varchar(255) NOT NULL default '',
`status` tinyint(2) NOT NULL default '0',
PRIMARY KEY (aid)
) TYPE=MyISAM;

MySQL Error : Table 'drupal_access' already exists

I have tried deleting the drupal tables and tried again with no luck, receiving the same error. I am installing it on 3.5.4

Okay, I went and installed the older version of vbdrupal... That worked, so then I tried upgrading and got this error...

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/admin/domains/bostonerotic.net/public_html/board/admincp/plugin.php(1232) : eval()'d code on line 72

Please help...

SaN-DeeP 08-30-2006 02:37 AM

shall definetly try this one :)
Thanks for the release. I am unsure about the future stability of this product (in case there are new versions/security releases from drupal or vbulletin), how convinient this shall be for end-users ?
Can you comment here ?

Thanks.

Masiello 08-30-2006 04:56 PM

Just a simple question please, is that Drupal plug-in waste the w3c xhtml and w3c css vBulletin board validation?

rickycc 08-31-2006 11:13 PM

which comment system is better VB or drupal?

Masiello 08-31-2006 11:22 PM

without doubt vBulletin.

oz_moses 09-02-2006 05:56 AM

has anybody been able to get this working with Dreamhost?

I'm having issues with the page redirecting to /cgi-system after I do anything. I've tried the suggestions in this thread and here also but no luck so far...

oz_moses 09-02-2006 06:52 AM

typical, after fiddling with it for half a day and getting nowhere I make a post... then 5 minutes later stumble onto the answer. Here it is for any other dreamhost customers:

Log into your panel
click manage domains
In the web hosting column click Edit
change PHP to 5.1.2

networktemple 09-07-2006 02:08 AM

how would i change the heading.. i want to put my own menu and logo on top

Joep11 09-07-2006 12:32 PM

Did anyone upgrade from 4.6 to 4.7 successfully? I have terrible troubles, blogs are messed up now for more then a week and I get hardly support at vbdrupal.org. I followed the upgrade instructions. Who did upgrade successfully and who had also problems?

redlabour 09-07-2006 01:31 PM

Thx a lot for this Perfect release and keep on going. ;)

But please move this Thread to 3.6. Nobody is looking at the 3.5 Categories any longer for new Stuff.

I only found it while i watch the old 3.5 Port.

Hi Redlabour,

Nice to hear it worked for you. So did you do a fresh install or an upgrade?

I know, I've been there for a week now in this topic, but still no smooth running 4.7. I think I have to go back to 4.6, cause this really sucks. Anyone here with a successfull upgrade? :tired:

I did ask there, see the link in the quote. No real solutions.

voteforbird 09-18-2006 07:08 PM

Edit: Nevermind…

voteforbird 09-18-2006 07:19 PM

I don't see any htaccess file. Where is it?
Additionally, I'm getting tons of access denied errors in the watchdog module.

andrew thomas 09-21-2006 08:07 PM

ok when i install this i dont understand how im supposed to have the database tables set up

do i create both drupal and vb tables on same db
or create seperate for both??
when i prefix the tables do i prefix only drupal or both?

soletrader 09-30-2006 02:27 AM

I visited drupal.org and I am not getting any support. Any know how I can change the phrase welcome to your drupal website?

AyeCapn 10-10-2006 12:39 PM

does this replace vBa CMPS, or does it work in addition to it?

Blackhat 10-15-2006 08:53 AM

It tells me my username does not exist when I try to add content
