Black and Gold 3.6

As promised, I have ported over my popular Black and Gold style yet again from vB 3.5 to vB 3.6, and I have also made some minor changes to it. The biggest changes were the addition of a totally new button set and totally new IM icons.

As always, please let me know of any issues with the style - I tested it pretty thoroughly prior to releasing it, and I wasn't able to find anything out of place. However, I have missed things before, so please don't hesitate to inform me of it..

Really ace skin, man. Very easy on the eyes. Well done.

-clicks install-

Mr Peabody 08-20-2006 02:49 AM

cheers

tuanluu 08-20-2006 02:55 AM

It is great .... good job

bluesoul 08-20-2006 03:07 AM

Hmm...actually, is there a way to get the posts back to left-aligned? I don't think my users are going to appreciate the centering there.

Fixed - I'm not sure how that ended up like that (It was never supposed to be centered in the first place.)

Dufachi 08-20-2006 06:36 AM

Thanks for the update. Is it imperative to reinstall the full skin, or can we get by with updating the graphics that are missing from the update? I customized the colors a bit and have some custom additions in the posbits of my themes and I don't want to have to redo them yet again (after fixing them when I upgraded from 3.5.4 to 3.6.0).

What exactly has changed from the 3.5.4 version?

Snake 08-20-2006 10:31 AM

Very nice!

There were a number of additions that occurred between 3.5 and 3.6 - The main ones are the infraction system and the multiquoting. If you've updated all your templates already and have those in, you should be ok for the most part.

Cool Matty 08-20-2006 03:28 PM

Beautiful as always. I think I liked the postbit black as on the older theme, but that's an easy fix.

Also, as I had to redo this modification myself, I figured I'd post how to do it here:

This little template mod changes the postbit legacy to show the rep points for the user on their posts.

Open the Postbit legacy for the black and gold style.

Find: <if condition="$show['reputation']">

Add immediately after:
<div class="pbitspacer"><div class="pbit" align="left">
Rep: $post[reputation]</div></div>

Save and you're done! This will add a new box that says "Rep: ###".

Just a little help for the lazy ones (like me) who would rather copy/paste than dive into the tangle of templates :D

I've installed this skin. But on the Forum Home the Tables seem to be a bit .. odd ..

It looks like you didn't upload some of the images to the proper locations.

Cool Matty 08-21-2006 03:48 AM

Oh, I just noticed something. The "hot threads with no new posts" has the same image as "no new posts". Kinda hard to decipher which is which. :/

dvsDave 08-21-2006 04:00 AM

Thank you! The updated buttons look terrific! Will be installing soonest!

Adramelech 08-21-2006 06:51 AM

Looks really nice. Thanks for sharing.

Strange - That must have been the case with the 3.5 and 3.0 versions as well, as I didn't do anything but copy those over :surprised: I'll look into that when I get home tonight and release an update if need be.

Nandakal 08-22-2006 01:46 PM

Strange issue at my installation to.....

Some tables look strange....

http://www.himkok.com/ting.jpg

Nandakal 08-22-2006 02:40 PM

hmm it works again now.. after i disabled some code allowed outside forum..

Andrew 08-22-2006 07:32 PM

Well - You can always hard code the column widths for the forumbits - Check out this link here where I posted the fix for the vBulletin 3.5 version (Should still be the same thing):

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....4&postcount=99

Nandakal 08-22-2006 09:33 PM

I'll have a look, atm its failing anew :)

-N.

Nandakal 08-22-2006 09:39 PM

nope, that didnt work either.... so back to square 1.

-N.

Andrew 09-02-2006 04:17 PM

Hmm - I'll see if I can't find a solution sometime this weekend.

RC Attacker 09-02-2006 07:40 PM

Wow, great style man! The images are downloading now.

RC Attacker 09-02-2006 09:18 PM

Okay I have a question. When I take the image folder I downloaded and drag it into the image folder in my FTP thing it says whatever.gif is already in this folder, do you want to replace it? for every single one. So should I click "yes to all"? And then let it download and then upload the skin in the admin panel and it works?

dvsDave 09-03-2006 01:32 AM

I created a button for the Post Thank You Hack. As I need more buttons and create them for this theme from Andrew's thoughtful PSD's, I'll post them here.

You shouldn't have to overwrite any of the files - Uploading the images folder to your forum root essentially just adds the bgold folder into the existing images folder.

No - Both of the CAL forum styles were created exclusively for their use, so I'm not permitted to offer them on vBulletin.org right now.

twitch 09-08-2006 10:14 PM

Andrew, i sent you a PM

alyster4k 09-10-2006 08:36 PM

Any ideas why the tables are randomly mis-aligned for me when viewing posts using this style? (The default style looks fine on the same material)

I just realized that my second set of forums look the same too. I double-checked the forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost code you had from 3.5 and it's already in there for the postbit.

Strange.

iran.gs 09-10-2006 11:02 PM

looks nice i had this on my nukephp but on vb has align problem any long topics on the right on the first page will come to the center part l pass on this one...

alyster4k You should pass on this one also i am a skin and theme freak but this has problem in it...

alyster4k 09-10-2006 11:42 PM

All my custom graphics revolve around this color theme that I was using on 3.0.8 up until this weekend so it's hard to switch. The little things are driving me crazy though.

Can you do me a favor and try adding a description to the forum where you're having the problem ? If that fixes it, I'll take a look at the template and see what the deal is.

LBSources 09-11-2006 10:22 AM

Hello Andrew .. glad this old dog black and gold has been made available to the 3.6. My older members love it. I have a strange issue though that im trying to track down.

Where should i look first to cirrect this offset? Both the left and the right sides of the navbar are larger then then forum area. I tried a few changes, but none worked.. any ideas?

I have descriptions by the forums already, Andrew: http://www.maximumkc.com/forum/index.php

Does this look tweaked on your screen too? I get different results on different computers I noticed this morning. I may clear off all my temp files/cookies and try again in a few.

not 09-11-2006 03:46 PM

Great dark style. Looks very clean.

I am having troubles with the tables aligning also.
