Background Color New PM Notification
I couldn't find a mod for changing the background of the welcome box when the member has a new PM, so I decided to write one. This is my first mod so be nice ;)
I have tested it with vB 3.6.0 and it works flawlessly. In the navbar template Find: Code:
<td class="alt2" valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> Code:
<if condition="$bbuserinfo['pmunread']"> Next, go to Style Manager > Main CSS and scroll to the very bottom. Under Additional CSS Definitions add the following to the bottom box. Code:
.pmbg { background-color: #33CCFF; color: #000000;} Don't forget to click INSTALL |
You may want to attach a screenshot for the unimaginative, just for future reference.

Ok thanks. Will do.
Thanks, pretty nice!
thanks Mr acidburn0520
Awsome, is there a way i can make it flash back to white then back to blue and so on?
Screenshot added.
@Ben Wilkins - The only way to do that would be with a javascript. I am not sure if vbarrays will allow javascript to be ran. |
cool... awsome mod. added to my forum... :)
cool buddy really Great :D
Well, not bad for your first, and I'll try to be nice. However didn't you get this from ericgtr's hack? Which I guess is cool too, that's how I'm learning, from other peoples work, but you should give credit to where you got the idea.
He gave the code to change the background color. He didn't give any code to show if there is a new message or not. Its a stupid little hack to change the background color. If someone told me the hex for the color white text and I go create a hack changing text white, it doesn't mean they told me how to write the mod.

If this is what people want for their pm's great, you provided a seperate thread with this idea, but you didn't write it yourself, just released it after getting the info from eric. |
Who cares? It's all open-source anyway; technically you're stealing from the person who created PHP - or HTML, in this case. :p
Who cares ? - the person who wrote it might care - you can't just go around copying other peoples code and releasing it as your own. I suggest you contact eric and ask. :)
I believe it was already discussed in Eric's original thread - he didn't sound too happy, but he wasn't freaking out.
I was hating that my members had to look up and see they had a msg TEN MINUTES AGO..... this is a great idea and my mems preciate it~

couldn't you use this code to set the background as a flashing .gif image? that would allow you to have it flashing |
