-Description-
This module allows to hide replies in a thread according to the the forum and the usergroup. Example : i'm a visitor, i can read the first message but not the following answers. Product installation - very simple settings.


-Features-

• Choose the trusted usergroups
• Choose forums under control
• Edit the Stop Message
• Hide replies in showthread and printthread

-Installation-

1. Copy the zip directory to your server so that the two pictures included can be access with this link : /yourforums/images/misc
2. Import the xml product file
3. Setup the module : vBulletin options -> Hidden replies

-Important-

Don't forget to setup vB forums and users permissions.

• Because i'm not a coder, if someone can improve the code, it will be a pleasure.
• Because the staff of another french forum than vbulletin-fr has criticized my work and try to copy it, i do not allow them to use this module.

Installed, but nothing is changed when i log out and try to read the specifide forum.

If you include your usergroup in the truted area, that's normal. Check your options please.

to my it happens to me the same. The group invited not this in the list.

Hi cclaerhout, i excluded the usergroup "unregisterd / not logged in" and then i logged out from my forum and empty the cache and than i tried to read the selected forum, but i could read every post in that forums topic and not only the first.

I reproduce the problem on another vB 3.5 board. Can you tell me which version of vB you're using to install that hack ? I will continue to try to solve the problem tomorrow.

my version are vb 3.6

I really have to test this hack on a clean vB 3.6 because i don't understand what it's happening. Anyway i find another way to make it work. I still have to test it.

Well i've tested the code with a clean 3.6 version... and you're right it doesn't work :D My vB version must be magic lol. Well, in a few second, there will be a new version, but this time, it will work ;)

Running 3.6 here.. hack doesnt work. it makes all users unable to read replies regardless of their permission.

Just a quick message to warn you that i forgot to protect the display of replies in vb archive system :D I still have to work on it.

Other bug found : when a thread has several pages and you click on the last message icon of showthread, it will bring to the X page... and the first message won't display. I have to correct this.

What will this do to spiders crawling on the site?

That's a concern of mine too. I'd love to be able to specify the forum(s) that this hack affected. I'd like to use it on the general forums, but not my content forums.

edit: I see that feature is already there! Installing...

This also makes it so that users are unable to reply to the threads. I'd like to have it so that they can reply but not see any of the replies (or maybe just their own) if that's a possibility.

But anyways, great add-on, keep up the great work :up:

Well it's possible to do it very easily because i've just hidden quickreply box and reply buttons. But i don't think it's a good thing... Imagine a spammer that answers many times to a thread ; not a nice thought isn't it ?

Anyway, if you still want to do it, edit the product file and delete theses variables :

Is there any hack for hidden messages to see only after reply to the post. Like...[hide][/hide] Please, tell me how to install it in the forum too. I am a novice in scripting.

this would be fantastic except i'd like to use it for a secure voting system and i figure it can't be that hard to change..... i would like...."a reverse hide hack basically" where only the first post in the thread shows until after the thread has been replied to.....then you can post battles in the first post and no one can see the resulting votes in the posts below until they have replied..... much like yours, but based on posts within the thread, not based on usergroups....any help?

or is there anyway to make it so even the trusted usergroups can't see it until after they reply......i guess that's what i'm trying to do.....
