Dark User legend

I have made a user group legend that I want to share with you all. I've had this set up on my site (3.5.3 to 3.6.0) without any problems.

This will put the legend right below the current active users with a bar between the users and the legend. Also you can change the background of it by changing numbers in the "<td class="alt1" colspan="2" >" to alt2 and or colspan1. Find the combonation that you like.

Alter the list to suit your forums' needs.

Live demo

There is also a screen shot in the attachment.

If you like it, please press Install

very nice, thanks :)

That's great. I always wondered why vB didn't have one by default.
Also, nice forum theme.

Nice addition. I installed but have a couple suggestions/requests.
1. Only Administrators group is underlined. Shouldn't all groups?
2. Anyway to make the group links clickable to take them to those groups.

1. By default the groups are not underlined. You can underline groups (in the admincp) to get a black (or use any color) underline rather then the default color under the username. Of course if you underline the group then you want to reflect that in the legend. I have that in there to show you that it's possible and I use it for my forum.

2. I'm not sure off the top of my head how to call just one usergroup and display it that way. You can add a link by rapping the group legend code with:
Code:

<a href="http://www.site.com"> </a>
If I come across something for each group, I'll post it here.

Thanks for the hack! I'll install it right away... :)

Real quick what you need to do in each usergroup Manager is put HTML code here:
Quote:

Username HTML Markup (Specify an opening and closing HTML tag with which to display the names of users in this group. This applies to names that appear on Logged-in Users, Who's Online, Users Browsing Forum, Users Browsing Thread, Posts, Member List etc.)
Puting code there will make the username a different color and then you can make the legend the same color.

If you need example code, look in the vBulletin Manual.

or a simple one would be:
Code:

Left Box:
<span style="color : red">

Right Box:
</span>

Hope that helps.

i just remember something why it was not working for me cuz i was using hex color codes and than i learn this only works if u use normaly text coloring like red yellow etc codes will not work i wonder why its a simple html it should have worked !! i though i bring this up in case someone runs in to same problem.. Use text rather than color code

CypherSTL 09-22-2006 07:21 AM

I have always used the hex code for the color and have not had any problems.

Dark_D 09-22-2006 11:36 PM

The hex code is cool, but I have trouble keeping track of what color I'm looking at when its just numbers....

I have installed this on 3.6.3 and it's not working properly, the bar is there with all the colors of the admins, mods, members etc... but the members themselfs are still default colors

This mod only reflects on the home page. To change your "Usergroup colors", you need to do that in the "Usergroup Manager", in the AdminCP. Pull up a user group, the forth line down "Username HTML Markup" is where you can change the color of your group to anything you want.
Example:
Code:

Box Left:
<span style="color: blue">
Box Right:
</span>

Change the color name to anything you want.
A list of colors can be found here:

Question: How do I take the UNDERLIN off the LEGEND? All the legend groups are linked but I dont want the underline. If this is possible please someone tell me. And while we are at it, maybe there is a way to not underline the members int eh currect users online at the buttom of the page. :)

Dark_D 03-24-2007 12:24 AM

Remove the underline code for the legand:
Code:

[ U ]  [ /U ]
The normal underlining you see in the "What's Going On?" is hard coded into vB, You'll have to search for that one...

Very Nice. Easy to install. Thanks.
