PNG Fix in IE
Due to the pricing and yearly fee of vBulletin I am no longer creating mods for vBulletin, instead I have stepped out of the shadow of vBulletin to create my own stand alone mods. I wish to thank everyone who downloaded and installed my mods but as of now with not being able to afford hosting and vBulletin, I decided to drop vBulletin so hopes of me returning would only happen if my newest venture brings me a nice profit.
Thank you all again Steve |

The above still works fine with 3.6.0 (although hasn't been updated with the recent change made on the author's site), sorry.. ;) |
I'm dumb
|
Thanks for your hack, very useful for me ;)

Very awesome! All my ranks are .png and it was lookin' pretty bad on the site with all the light blue around them (if they were using IE).
The only thing I found weird was...when I first uploaded it...it changed all my ranks to a size that was about 10x10, I kept searching other threads and slowly by slowly the images came back to normal size. All is good now :) Thanks for the hack! |
No prob, I didn't realize it was doing that. I will check into it so no one else has to worry about that happening.
|
Yeah looks great and I get the same 10x10 thing. Hopefully its just because its new script and needs to bed in :P
|
for whatever reason, this is not working for me :( . Only thing I can think of is my path is wrong? the path to the file from the html directory of my server is vb/forums/clientscript ....... is this the path i should be using? Or do you have to use the full path of the webserver? any help would be appreciated.
TIA, Chad |
RaMarcus: Yea thats all it is, just needs to embed.
oct2274: You can do either way, try using the full path and see what happens. |
Thanks I didnt realise my forums png suffered with this, always used firefox.
|
I put in the correct path (partial and full) and its not working for me either. using IE6+
|
Thanks for the hack! I'll install it right away... :)
|
ok, i fixed it........seems that it pasted into the template wrong the first time........even though i didn't have the forums of the root of my server i didn't have to change the path at all.....though i had it that way at first.
|
whitetigergrowl, where are you uploading the pngfix.js file?
|
Hi Steve,
This fix does not seem to work with the BB Code Manager hack to show rounded quotes boxes using PNG graphics. Any other suggestions would be helpful otherwise the IE users in my forum will just have to suffer. |
fotografik: Give me a link to the hack and I will install it and test out a new PNG fix to work with that.
|
not working :(
|
Phosphorus, gotta be more specific, is it not working altogether, giving an error, did you upload the file to the right folder?
|
Same fore me here, I doesn't work with the BB Code Manager hack hack.
Any idea? Thanks for the support. I'm using vb 3.6.2 Grtz, Kris |
I'll try this later today. If it works as described, I must say that it's a real life saver! Thanks.
|
There is a problem with this hack
My logo is a png file. For some reason, whenever I am in a vb add/edit page which contains a form, the logo will not display in IE. You do a view source, the logo is there. Removing the code in headinclude, the logo displays. |
But with IE7, I believe there is a PNG fix?
Grtz |
Lionel, what do you mean when you are in a vb add/edit page which contains a form?
Yes in IE7 there is a PNG fix but alot of people are not running IE7. |
simple, test it for yourself. Add a png logo in your header, then do a new thread or try adding a calendar event and see if you still can see the logo.png
|
I can see the logo.png fine. Hmmm, odd if you ask me. I should have a new version done within the next few weeks, hopefully.
|
Not working for me either
|
Installed...thanks for sharing.
|
Working fine so far ... thanks!
|
Sorry everyone but with my server down and me looking for new hosting I have no where to work on updates or new plugins so it will be a bit longer before I release a new update.
|
Hi Steve,
I?m running 3.6.3 I uploaded the as "js" to clientscript/pngfix.js I doesnt work. PNGs are still not transparent. I?m using IE 6.0.2 Any idea / help? I really want this to work... I hate GIFs... ;) |
Did you place the specific code in the head template?
|
Very awesome,
Thank yoooooouuu!! |
Most of my site's new design are .pngs. Realized not everyone is using IE7 yet and was going nuts trying to find a solution.
Thank God IE finally fixed this. THANK YOU!!! |
same for me :D
PNG rocks |
Glad everyone is using this, didn't expect it to get attention the way it has.
|
Is it operate to version 3.6.5? or else that is right installation as well on IE not one can tell that after-effects :(
|
thx alot, just what im looking for long time :)
*clicks install |
Can you tell me if this allows semi transparency of a png over an image? I have a background image for the postbit and some users have some semi transparent png images and i want these to show over the background image.
Some png fix codes dont work with semi transparency, they just turn the grey blue to grey, which is why i wonder. James |
Well, the website he borrowed this solution from appears to fix this for all types of transparency.
|
TheMilkCarton is correct. It appears to fix all types of transparency but I have not tested it.
From what I have learned this WILL work on 3.6.x all versions. |
