Custom vB Pages

This lets you create a template like "page_test" and open it by using

You just need to use the prefix "page_" on the name of a template to create a new vBulletin page, full with navigation bar and footer.

You need HTML skills to use this modification, but it helps greatly to make your own vB pages.

I didn't get this to work ?!?!

I created a new template by duplicating FORUMHOME template and renamed it to page_frontPage I added a line of text to tell the two templates a part.

I tried to use like myForum.com/index.php?page=frontPage

Why do I still get the original FORUMHOME template page?

It worked fine, you duplicated the template.
everything that appears on your forums index is in forumhome so basicly you've just put all that on a new page, repeating it.

What should I do with the mod xml file?

Go into AdminCP and down towards the end find the Plugins & Products menu.

Next choose Manage Products, and at the very bottom of THAT menu you'll see "[Add/Import Product]"

After clicking on it, you'll simply use the Browse button to find the xml file on your local HD. Then just choose the "Import" button and the MOD will install itself.

Once you've done that, it should show up under the "Installed Products" listing.(i.e. Manage Products Menu)

Thanks fro your help adwade but I still did'nt get it to work.

I did what you suggested but it displayed a message saying that this is a plugin not a product so I added the mod as a plugin.

I set the hook location to forumhome_start and the plugin is active but nothing happens when I try to use it.

the same happens to me !
until I realize that if you want to use this plug-in
you must go to AdminCP > and create a new template

and name it ( page_whateverYouLike )
and then put into the body of the template the html code for your page !

final step is to call your page from the browser :

http://www.yourforum.com/index.php?page=whateverYouLike

and that's all ;)

@meera: don't import it as a product..use the "Download/Upload plugins" option for uploading/importing the plugin!

What problems? It is very simple and there is nothing much to really go wrong with it...

In regards to logicians mod, that is great too but this is much different and much simpler. Logicians has more options to use custom header and footer templates etc.... This is a basic way to add a custom template using your sites header/footer/navbar css.... Makes it very easy to add a policy page or what ever...

The template is not cached you mean?

Can't be done, because by the time the plugin knows what template it will use, the cache point has passed.

Not sure if that made sense for you... Here it is in another way: there's no way of caching the template because you don't know which template the user will use.
