Don't forget to hit install !!!!!!!

Detailed installation instructions and screenshots in the included pdf file.

Current Features

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2008/09/9.png

NOTE:
VBGooglemap 3.0.0 contains the vulnerability fix. Please upgrade immediately. Version 3.0.0. also contains all features from 2.5.X

As always you use modifications at your own risk.

VBGooglemap Member Edition 2.5.x brings you a lot of new features. It?s vital that you uninstall any previous version before upgrading/installing version 2.5.x.

Upgrading from version 2.5.0 is easier. Instruction are available in the guide.

As the uninstall function will not remove your googlemap data in the database but only the templates and files you can safely remove an older version. As a precaution you should always take a backup. This should be done on each major change you make to your bulletin board.

IF YOU ARE RUNNING VERSION 1.0.3, 2.0.X AND YOU CHANGED TEXT DIRECTLY IN THE TEMPLATES YOU NEED TO SAVE YOUR CHANGES AS VERSION 3.0.0. REQUIRES YOU TO UINSTALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS.

This has taken quite some work and still will take a lot more. Please give credit where credit is due. You cannot remove any notice without prior written permission.

Changes in this version

SEE FIRST POST FOR FULL ROADMAP AND HISTORY

Planned Features
- TBD

Volume warning

high volume of users may slow down the load. Currently a load counter is included.

Languages

Thanks to Wachtmeister there is a German translation available to you all. Feel free to use it.

The translation will be updated on each new version.

Special

- Read the attached PDF for more information. The pdf is also included in the zip file.
- You'll need a googlemap key for your domain. Get your own key for your domain view http://www.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html for more information.
A googlemap key is only valid for a specific domain. You'll need a specific google account to create one.
All is explained on the googlemap link indicated above.
- Set the file permissions on the marker.xml file to 777
- The googlemap script can handle non-registered users. They will only see the main map and won't be able to enter information. This is reserved for logged in users (detected automatically)
- usergroup permissions are available in the backend
- To change location just drag the map while holding the left mouse key or by using the zoom and key functions on the left
- First time loading of the map may take a few seconds longer because of Google API hosting

This is the port / tested version of my 3.5.X version.

The 3.5.X should work fine too if you upgrade (if you are already running this mod).

This is an error that is also reported on vbulletin.com and without any relation to my hacks. It has something to do with the bitfields in 3.6.0.

Best to check the thread on there.

Upgraded for 3.6.0 thanx :p..

firstrebel 08-06-2006 11:24 AM

I have a number of problems having upgraded to vB3.6 and this Googlemap ME version. From the attached image you can see all the side images are missing, and clicking on 'Properties' for each shows the same image for each panel: mm_20_.png

None of the markers are there, they are all black smudges.

There are also two vbgooglemapme.php files in the zip.

1. If you are using different styles make sure you install the images in that styles dir too
2. Before starting you have to set the color for each usergroup and configure what usergroup is to be shown in the legend

That should fix it for you

firstrebel 08-06-2006 01:12 PM

Excellent, thanks.

Sorry, but I am getting the same problem and it causes some check boxes not to appear.
When I remove /includes/xml/bitfield_vbgooglemap.xml , that corrects the problem in forums home page options

da420 08-13-2006 05:29 AM

I click run on the scheduled tasks, and this is what I get.

Code:

da420 08-15-2006 12:30 AM

Is this one of these hacks that have been abandoned? Cause this is a wonderful hack, but without support, not everyone will get the chance to use it. :( I sure hope it's not one of those hacks.

.

I don't show the cron job in my scheduled tasks page. I do have it in the cron directory.

I also can't get the first entry to appear.
http://www.bronxroots.com/vbgooglemapme.php
But http://www.bronxroots.com/vbgooglemapme.php?do=list shows me.
Not meaning to hijack the thread.
In my marker file googlemapme/noimage.png

Edit: Added the cron job, still no entry.

I have this problem with other installs and in the hot spot edition.
Not to hijack this thread, in my marker file is show googlemapme/noimage.png

Jayphen 08-15-2006 02:35 PM

I want to make it so that only admins and registered users show in the legend, as all other groups cannot view the map.

I would also like to remove the 'image' part of the balloon - what is that for anyway??

this problem there and' I also have him me we hope that is resolved as soon as possible

Aclikyano 08-19-2006 01:55 AM

great hack... but....

[List users] (doesnt show my "marked location") yet [Your Entry] when clicked on is filled out...
[Show Main Map] shows a map ... but not my 'marked location'....

I added the cron job (in admin cp)....ran it like you said....
markers.xml is in the /forums (directory) with .777 chmod
there are 7 Entries when clicking on (List Users) YET on the right hand side it says....
Load: <- says nothing... theres supposed to be a number right??
Current markers: 0 <- ?? but theres 7 entries in list users
Current Zoom level: 3

(so something should definitly be showing)
I dont know whats up...

Aclikyano 08-20-2006 02:53 AM

24 hour ... ^ bump :tired:

EDIT: It seems to strangly be working now after I did..........

(list users) / (edit) / Using normal URL / highlighted the url in place / COPY + PASTED IT in the "URL of the image for the marker" BOX..........................

.............went back to the map (refreshed) then it worked....

No, I think this is someting you are going to have to deal with:

Phaedrus 08-22-2006 11:50 PM

How does this work? Do the members put in their own coordinates?

Ncturnal 08-23-2006 01:27 AM

I got it installed and it looks great! One small issue.....any idea why the $post[findme] link only works for admins?

EDIT: Nevermind on the findme. I had it between a if /if statement. One thing we would like to do though is remove the usergroup from the list view. We don't want people knowing who the admins are.

ktp101 08-23-2006 02:44 AM

installed and works fine other than i cannot add a marker, i know its down to me not editing the file permissions to '777'.

so my only question may be stupid but can someone tell me how to edit the file permissions for marker.xml to 777?

Phaedrus 08-23-2006 02:46 AM

Installed and working...

I edited the permissions by opening the XML file in an editing tool and adding 777 between the markers...

Most FTP clients have this ability. I use CuteFTP, but others should offer the funtion as well. In CuteFTP, when you right-click a file on the web server, CHMOD is one of your options. If you have direct server access, you can use CHMOD from the command line.

i also use CuteFTP but this is not something i have done before, i will try. thanks in advance.

edit: that was easy. thanks again.

I am up to step 7 and am in trouble. Where in the Navbar do you need me to put that code?

Also Step 8 has me lost.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You put it wherever you want the link to show up. You'll have to have some understanding of the code to figure that out. Step 8 is basically the same thing. The $post[findme] code is like a variable for a link that will read My Location. You can see an example of it on my board for the members who have added their location.

http://www.mr2board.com/forums/site-...board-com.html

What is your website? Do you have AIM? I can probably walk you through it if you do.

haddockman 08-24-2006 03:07 AM

Thanks for the offer

PM sent :)

Troy Roberts 08-24-2006 06:23 PM

How about an option to show the member's profile picture for the image?

Phaedrus 08-24-2006 11:29 PM

The members appear to really like this one...

Best to check the thread on there.

Given that it disappears when removing the bitfields from your hacks, I tend to think that it is more your hacks not being written to follow the vB way, rather than a vB 'bug'.

*edit* Hmm.. perhaps it was a combination of this hack and another.. seems to be working fine with the lastest version.

Apologies for casting aspersions on your hack sir. :)

Although, it might be an idea to not use the vb_ prefix...

andreamarucci 08-26-2006 04:10 PM

Thanks Stonyarc for this wonderful hack. Hust a question. Is it possible to disable the possibility to insert an image in the marker so that only the text is shown?

byrom 08-26-2006 05:15 PM

Hunne 08-26-2006 08:57 PM
