Do people donate for free products?
 

Just curious if people really donate for the free products on this site. I've seen almost every product that says, "If you like, feel free to donate". Just wondering if the hard work is repaid in any way...

Anybody know if this happens?

I would ***think*** in most cases people don't but I have only donated once to the WebTemplates author.

I've seen a couple people post saying that they were going to or already did donate to a hack author.

if i have the money I do...nothing big most times...5 or 10 bucks here or there, i'm sure i'm not the only one.

I should think 995 out of every 1000 users don't, but some do.

I do, it's only fair. If there's a mod or hack I really like, then it is the right thing to do.

I have a lot of hacks and I gave donation links in just two of them as I also wondered the answer of the same question. Here is the stats for these:

It would seem that the actual purpose of the hack is what encourages people to donate -- not the number of installs.

Does the staff earn any money by being part of the staff?

nope, I highly doubt it. I could be wrong though.

I've donated a small chunk to Mr Zero Page for putting out such a nice Arcade... but other than that I dont think I have donated much.

In my experience, no, not really. I think one person has donated to me in all the time I have been here.
