prevent reduction of postcounter

This is a small, neat modification which let you delete old threads and posts without making your users cry that their postcounter decreases with that action.

While using this modification your user's postcounter will reflect their over-all-activity, not just "how many posts are currently in the database".

You don't need any hidden trashcan-forum for old threads anymore, just to make sure nothing gets deleted ;)

This modification is designed for vBulletin 3.6.0
If you are still using 3.5.x use the other attached product-XML

Installation is quite simple, just import the product and enjoy :)

Yorixz 07-23-2006 08:19 AM

Thanks a lot, I'm also looking for such a mod that will (only) affect the postcount stats on the forumhome, any chance you will write one like that as well? ;)

Snake 07-23-2006 11:45 AM

Thanks, Zero, and well done! ;)

hotwheels 07-23-2006 12:58 PM

I got an error when uploading it to 3.5

MrZeropage 07-23-2006 01:37 PM

Ok, I uploaded another XML that is compatible to 3.5 :)

hotwheels 07-23-2006 01:54 PM

That worked mrZeropage, thank you very much

MGM 07-23-2006 09:32 PM

How will the post count be affected if we run "Update Post Counts" in the Update Counters?

MGM out

MrZeropage 07-24-2006 05:11 AM

Of course the "Update Post Counts" will work as usual, thus reducing the counter... Why would you run that tool with this mod installed ?

You don't know what I mean ? Simple .. Your bloodpreasure goes up with drinking and down from smoking .. so guess what :D :D

j/k - thanks for that Zero ..

nasser71 07-24-2006 03:10 PM

i will use the 3.5 ver of the hack
wat will hapen whin i upgrade to 3.6
do the post count hold or it will reduce

MrZeropage 07-24-2006 04:22 PM

counter only reduces if there is no plugin of the above installed and you delete post/thread

rodrigoZIN 08-20-2006 12:32 AM

The messages at the foruns are reducing, should it be afected??
There is any way to move the topics, but the forum counter do not reduce?

Thanks!

MrZeropage 08-20-2006 06:57 AM

?! I don't understand what you mean ...

rodrigoZIN 08-20-2006 03:14 PM

Ok, I moved messages from a forum, a forum called X and moved all the messages from X to the forum Y, the messages from forum X will continue the same number or they will reduce??

Because recently i had a problem, my moderators they use to move the old messages to a recycle bin, and the number of messages reduce from the forum it was moved, could the number to not decrease??

Thanks!

MrZeropage 08-20-2006 03:28 PM

this modification avoids any reduction of the post-counter using the delete-function of posts/threads

movement should have nothing to do with any post-counter I think ...
Maybe you are talking about forum/thread-counter ?

gooberface 08-25-2006 02:48 PM

Man, this is awesome. Thanks for creating this. I was thinking about this earlier upon installation of my new board. I hated the idea of post counts going down as the old threads are pruned. YOU DA MAN! We all appreciate your work.

hotwheels 08-26-2006 03:46 AM

Awesome mod man.........thanks

Alphasims 11-10-2006 11:52 AM

TY.. Installed it.. this is neat!

Gbml2u 11-13-2006 03:59 PM

prevent reduction of thank ?
Some idea ?

zell_11 11-14-2006 07:48 PM

Thank you so much, i have been looking for an answer to this problem for quiet a bit, means now i dont have to put inactive forums in a special place :D

rastacat 11-15-2006 04:30 PM

I have not posted any thank you replies as they make a lot of pages to dig through for guys who are troubleshooting, but this is an exception.

Thank you.

Al

rinkrat 03-19-2007 04:29 AM

My users cry every time I prune, who knew they kept track of post counts like it;s some kind of measuring stick of their manhood or something. ;) This will finally put an end to the insecurity caused by lowerd post counts.

weedheaven 03-19-2007 03:30 PM

Does this work ok for 3.6.5 ?

MrZeropage 03-20-2007 07:23 PM

Actually it's helpful to see the thanks/problems ratio in a mod, because if there are mostly troubleshooting posts I can figure I don't know enough about code to try the mod.

(And, installed - thanks! Any chance there's a mod like this for forum statistics?)

Invalid ID 04-03-2007 07:41 PM

Thanks. Can you also make it to prevent deduction of thread counter?

Thanks

Stifmeister2 05-03-2007 04:22 PM

Just figured this out... I've been searching for mod like this for ages! :) Thanks dude!! :)

rjmjr69 06-22-2007 07:28 PM

Zero is this really the same as that other one that was just released? Does this work with 3.6.7? I rather your code than some copier

MrZeropage 06-23-2007 05:15 AM

Yes, the code in the XML is 99,9% exactly the same, and it works fine with vB 3.6.7 :)

momo2 07-08-2007 08:14 PM

Excellent my forum has lots of posts which needs to be deleted coz download links die from rapidshare and this will save their posts counts....

Thanks... Installed

pandaram 09-16-2007 01:17 AM

hi mates,
is this working fine with VB3.6.8?

ETDC 09-16-2007 01:41 AM

product postcounter.xml (927 Bytes, 313 downloads)
product postcounter 35.xml (887 Bytes, 69 downloads)

Which one do I import? Or Both? :)

Looks useful.

momo2 09-16-2007 01:45 AM

That's what this mod is designed to allow.

RTFM! :o

Installed now, - nice one!

Pamela 02-29-2008 09:09 PM

This is exactly what I need! Does this still work on 3.7.0 (I'm on Beta 5)?

Thanks! :)

UPDATED: Tried it myself on 3.7.0 and it works great! :)

boatswife 03-02-2008 09:09 PM

Works on 3.6.8.

Thank you! *clicks installed*
