vBulletin 3.6 Release Candidate 2 Released
As posted at vbulletin.com: vBulletin 3.6 Release Candidate 2 Released
(please read the original thread for the template changes and other detail info) vBulletin 3.6 Release Candidate 2 Release Candidate 2 brings vBulletin 3.6 a step closer to becoming our main supported release. Note, however, that this is still not considered a stable release, though we hope it will become so. What does Release Candidate mean? Release Candidate, or RC for short, means that we believe vBulletin 3.6 is ready to be declared a "stable" and "supported" supported release once it as undergone some additional testing. The only known bugs that may remain are trivial. Additionally, vBulletin 3.6 is now "code complete", so don't expect to see any changes except for bug fixes. RCs will be released until only trivial bugs are being fixed. Once this happens, the next stage is to move on to "gold" or, as it's officially known, 3.6.0. The Usual Important Stuff This is unstable/unsupported software. If you are not fully at home with backing-up and restoring your forum, dealing with bugs and regular upgrades, do not install this version.
If you are accustomed to the install and upgrade procedure used by vBulletin 3.5 then the 3.6 install and upgrade process will be familiar to you. Please refer to an earlier release announcement for full instructions. Hacking / Plugins While there have not been extensive changes to the underlying architecture of vBulletin 3.6 from 3.5, it is possible that certain hooks may have changed. Therefore you should check with the author of whatever plugins and products to attach to your vBulletin installation to inquire about their compatibility with vBulletin 3.6. Plugin authors should be assured that we do not anticipate major code changes between the Beta 1 code and the final 3.6.0 code, so plugins written for or adapted to 3.6 compatibility should still work with the final code. Javascript / AJAX Problems Many of the Javascript files for vBulletin 3.6 have changed. However, if templates are reverted or adapted correctly there should be no issue with cached old Javascript files, as we have implemented a system that should force clients to reload Javascript files after an upgrade. If you discover what you believe to be a Javascript problem, please ensure that you are not using cached files by doing a ctrl+F5 hard refresh before reporting it as a bug. Reporting Bugs Please use the vBulletin 3.6 Bug Tracker to report any bugs you find in vBulletin 3.6. |
Thx!
I missed RC1, LOL. |
How many more versions untill the REAL one o.O
|
Thx!
I missed RC1 :) |
yay, upgrade time again :D
I'm sure they watch for me to leave the house though before they release. No matter what is released, I'm never at home when they do it :( |
Upgraded successfully, thanks :)
|
Any new features or just more bugfixes?
|
Would Be Nice To Be Told What Hacks etc: will not work...........
|
You want vBulletin to create a list of every plugin, every code modification, and every template edit that will not work in each new version of vBulletin?
Yeah... right, that's possible. |

Considering the speed that 3.6 has been developed at, I would estimate 2-3 weeks at most until we see a Gold release, with any Gold release being as early as the end of this week :) Quote:

Now instead of having to attach the item to the post for podcasts, you can just enter the file's URL. :) |
There are Podcasts on 3.6?

I'm running RC2 on my live forum, with the following hacks:
vBAdvanced CMPS vBPicGallery IBProArcade vB Shoutbox vbBux/vBPlaza EZ Archive Ad system and we're running smooth ;) |
Also, might i add almost all 3.5 hacks work, some require you change location of plugin but thats just about all.
|
thx Ohiosweetie... makes me feel a bit better ...
|
Running smooth without any problems so far...:D

I think I will wait till the final build gets released. Don't get me wrong, I'm very tempted to upgrade but I think my best cause of action is to wait.
I don't have any hacks installed so I don't think there will be any issues when I do make the upgrade. |

I am getting so excited! WOOHOO! Are there any rumors as to when it will be gold? Seems that everything is being released once a week - which rocks!
Also, do the styles/skins transfer from 3.5x to 6 without a problem or am I going to have to go back to the drawing board? |
There don't seem to have been many bug reports for RC2 so it's not going to be far off now, maybe one more RC at most.

MOST of the 3.5 hacks will probably work. All of my hacks are working except for the VbAdvanced Gallery! (such as vbaracde, plaza, webtemplates, dynamic forum home announcements, vbpager, ect)
|
I have ibproarcade, hackdb lite, last seen online, local date and time in postbit, who has visited in last 24 hours, who has registered today, topxstats, who's online in ACP, advanced product manager, and more installed with no problems. I did have problems with the event forums modification though so ended up removing it.

I'm sure there are more that work, but I've cut back on the number of modifications installed since 3.6.0 as I don't need a lot of them now as they are default functions so I haven't been checking every single one.

Ive been sitting here waiting in line :hurt: |
It will be ready when it is ready. The best thing to do is to keep an eye on the bug tracker at vB.com and then when next to no bugs are being reported, then it will be ready. While bugs are being found and reported it will stay in the RC stage.
|
Hehe. Probably there are bugs found but will be reported AFTER vB has gone 3.6.0 Gold. :)

I feel like an idiot but where is the download for the RC2?
I have some time so I was going to upload it on my Dev Board to make sure my custom hacks will work but I just can't find the code... |
Hey soon is better than never, right!??! :) It's been AMAZING that they have been doing a release a week for the last X weeks.... I have been very very impressed!
