Against vBulletin piracy logo
 

>Module purpose
This module adds a logo against vBulletin piracy at the center of your footer

The logo changes with the language. You have to configure it (very easy).

>Install

1)Upload the two pictures in the "images/misc" directory of all your styles

2)Import xml file with the vB product manager

3)Go to "vbulletin options->Against Piracy Logo" and config the mod

The code can't be redistributed elsewhere than vBulletin-fr.org, vBulletin.org and vBulletin.com
The code can't be changed without asking me
The picture must have an hypertext link to vbulletin-fr.org for french speaking users or vbulletin.org (or vbulletin.com) for other users.

I will explain you later the reason why i've made this module.

It's done ! I've modified the mod. Now you can choose other language than english in vBulletin options. Of course, i've had the german picture ;) Don't forget to upload it.

the capitals are not correct

It's not just the capitals, there is also a hyphen missing.
"Diese Seite ist gegen vBulletin-Raubkopierer."
Such a simple rule, yet no one is able to apply it.

Well i've learned german for 5 years, but in France the german studying program is really bad... Ok, i was not good too, but most of puplils were like me :D

I'll correct this later, i have to finish to write a paper... and i'm not very motivated lol

awesome thing. Ive always wanted something like this.

My board is set up for english but it wants to show french. By default I would still add an english option. Just in case. ;) I edited the template anyways to work around the problem.

I dont see why pirated vB admins would install this lol. This should be coded into the final vB version so when you see a site without it you know its pirated.

Well, i'm going to modify my hack in order to answer your request. What do you think to setup the picture to use by language id.

I mean in vBulletin options->Against Piracy Logo you will have something like this :

English image and text
Enter here the language ids you want to use english image and text :

French image and text
Enter here the language ids you want to use french image and text :

German image and text
Enter here the language ids you want to use german image and text :

If you're ok with that, i'll make it later (in a few hours, time for me to go back to paris, to sleep 3 hours and to go work and take an orange juice to wake up ;) The good news is that i've finished to write my paper :) )

How exactly is a graphic & link supposed to fight vB piracy?

It's an activist logo. Nothing more.

much better thank you, and yeah I know this doesnt help piracy but its nice to show that you actually paid and supported the people who make the software unlike many forums out there i see that are pirated.

When I hover over the logo the language appears to be in French. How do I change this? >_<

Though the idea is really nice, it's not really going to help any once un-licensed users figure out that all they have to do is upload that image to their website and just hardcode it into the footer. =\

Sorry but i can't reproduce the problem. If your logo is in english, the phrase must display in english.


Yes you're right Yarub. But my goal wasn't to make a verification system or to track nullified board. It's the job of vB to do that ;) Again it's just a simple logo to support legal vBulletin forums.

The idea behind it is noble, and I respect it very much. It is rather annoying see people just go and pirate a vBulletin, when I pay for mine with hard earned money.

FWIW, I installed it and it only shows to logged in users. Visitors don't see it. Kind of defeats the purpose, eh?

I've tested on two of my boards and it is working.

Ummm...no. Settings are correct for English which is the only installed language.

it might be an idea make link from the logo point to http://www.vbulletin.com/piracy.php

1)Have you enter your english language id ?
2)Have you choose the default logo to use ?
3)Do you upload pictures in all misc directories of your styles ?

Well, i coud. But image that your members click on it, see the vb piracy page and enter your forum url ;) That logo and that page don't have the same purpose.

oooh well i installed this it won't actually help to "catch" the pirates but it won't hurt your board either

I spose it is slightly flawed, but nonetheless, a good idea and someone willing to go against the pirates....well done m8 :)

Its so cheap to buy vBulletin.

vBulletin isn't cheap, It took my forum a year to be able to afford it.

install it will not help i think we all do something.
But is good to see we suport VB is a very nice forum.

Thx for the mod and the staff for the great board.

chances are if someone is on a board that says it is pirated, they dont care, as long as they get what they need from the forum and it is useful for them.

and an admin would put this on a pirated board because people are not smart enough to think beyond "wow! he has an image that says it is legit! so i guess it must be!!"

looks good.. this way we will reduce piracy

How on GOD'S EARTH will this reduce piracy?
