[DOWNLOAD] Converter (from v3arcade to ibProArcade)

1 Attachment(s)
Anybody who has v3arcade running on his site and wants to migrate to ibProArcade... Here is the solution

This will automatically convert your installed games and, if you want to, even all the scores from v3arcade to ibProArcade.
The converter is designed to be used on a fresh ibProArcade-installation as you will lose all installed games and scores in your ibProArcade.

The Converter is compatible to:
  • vBulletin 3.5.x / 3.6.x
  • ibProArcade v2.5.9+ and later
  • v3arcade 1.0.6 (for vBulletin 3.5.x)
usage with <1.0.6 are untested yet, please let me know if/how this works

Just follow those steps to migrate:

1) don't touch your v3arcade-installation yet, just close the arcade
2) download ibProArcade and install it
3) upload the attached converter to your forum's root-directory and run it

That's all, the converter is interactive and will tell you what to do ect.

Don't forget to remove the converter.php after everything is done !

The converter will let you choose if you want to remove v3arcade after conversion or not.

After you successfully converted, feel free to click UNINSTALL for v3arcade

Note to the sceptics ;)
If you want to take a look on ibProArcade first while not losing your v3arcade, make sure you rename your /arcade.php to /v3arcade.php before you install ibProArcade. Then, after conversion is done, do not remove v3arcade at this time and test ibProArcade.
If you feel comfortable with it, remove v3arcade later via vBulletin's Product-Manager or (and that is what I point you to) run the converter again, it will provide a link for uninstallation on the first page and then guide you through the complete uninstallation (will even tell you which files and folders to remove, which the Product-uninstaller does not!). Remember to remove the renamed /v3arcade.php too ;)
If you dislike ibProArcade, please let me know the reason and uninstall ibProArcade via the Product-Manager, then rename your /v3arcade.php to /arcade.php and you can use your v3arcade again.

If you find any bugs, if you have any improvements, ideas ect. please let me know :)

MrZeropage 06-27-2006 07:42 PM

Please do me a favour and post something here in this thread if you used the converter, just information if everything worked well and how you like your new Arcade ;)

Thx!

Sorry i havent posted earlier, but Vb.org was down:P

Everything went smoothly, IbproArcade is on the house:D

Ps

The only thing u must add imho in your directions, is that after u uninstall V3Arcade via the Converter, u must also uninstall any related addons u may installed. It may sounds like a common sense, but i didnt do it till my site went down (i had an error) and vb.org was also down and i was little freaked out:P But after i got my senses back, everything went smoothly:D

I have just tested this with 3.6.x beta 3.

It worked sucessfully without a flaw!

It also took about..30 seconds to convert.

I have some suggestions though:
  • Make the converter look like the vbulletin forum upgrade pages
  • Link to the ibpro arcade download page when it says the ibpro arcade is not found (So that people can download it).
  • Add a page to tell people where the v3arcade files are so that they can remove them (ones in admincp, includes, images etc).
Thats about it :) Great stuff!

Also: This converter works with ibpro arcade 2.5.4+ (when moving data from v3arcade to 2.5.4+) as I did that on vbulletin 3.5.x (I forgot I had 2.5.4 not 2.5.6 :p)

That already is included, just start the converter and click "remove v3arcade" ...

It will tell you all steps that need to be done :)

I will set the Link to download ibProArcade, good idea !

It look fine for me until I go to arcade page... I can see you the game score but not the images. Do I have to manualy move the image or this script will automatic take care me. thnks

MrZeropage 07-01-2006 06:46 AM

Yes, if you are in step 3 of the converter it tells you how to move which files :)

Not much to do:
move all .swf-Files from /games to /arcade
move all .gif-Files from /images/arcade to /arcade/images

That's all :)

I was lucky enough to be one of MrZero's test bunnies on this. As usual, excellent work.

Great :)

Today I made the change to Ibproarcade. Out with the old, in with the new.

I used the converter to bring over all the scores from V3 arcade, but there is one problem. It brought over every score ever set, even though I only want members highest scores to show. I have the ACP set to "only save users top score", and that seems to be working just fine now, but how do I go back and update the leaderboards to delete every score except the highest for each user? I have ran all of the updates in score tools, and none of them had an effect.

I dont have too many users so I could just go through and prune each users scores individually, but if there is an easier way to do this, please do tell.

Thanks!

MrZeropage 07-09-2006 05:39 AM

@altdelete47:
Thanks for using ibProArcade :)
That is a thing I thought of to integrate in AdminCP for next v2.5.7+: prune all lower scores of a user per game if setting is changed to "save only users top score", or just provide a function in "Score Tools" for that.
By now there is no option to do that automatically, sorry.

jilly 07-09-2006 05:43 AM

thank you for such a fabulous mod, and the great converter - worked wonrderfully to do the conversion, and the removal of v3 - everything was very clear and easy to do! I was so thrillede to be able to include the old games and old high scores so easily.
wonderful job!
jilly

zooki 07-09-2006 02:38 PM

It worked, but the other Games that come with Ibpro .. like Pacman etc are missing, even though they were their before i did the Conversion.

MrZeropage 07-09-2006 03:01 PM

Yes, because of unique GameIDs all Games are pruned before converting the existing Games, and I did not implement to re-add them after all games from v3arcade are converter to avoid double-games, as most of standard-games are the same in v3arcade.

Feel free to add them manually ;)

loonytune15 07-10-2006 03:51 PM

worked well but i deleted all my scores afterwardsand it still shows a member saying "got 109 times
the High Score of all time "

Any ideas on what went wrong?

MrZeropage 07-10-2006 08:00 PM

you deleted the scores afterwards and thus the best results remain as being independent from pruning ect.

ibProArcade v2.5.7+ will come along with a feature to delete some/all best results, until then you have to wait or run the following queries:

UPDATE games_list SET bestscore=0
UPDATE games_list SET bestmid=0

loonytune15 07-11-2006 04:05 AM

Thank you. Worked a charm :D

trackpads 07-12-2006 01:09 AM

Is it possible to run both the old Arcade and the new converted one simultaneously? For example one as a private and one as a public?

MrZeropage 07-12-2006 06:41 AM

Not really, as the games submit their score to /arcade.php
Beside it would not really make sense as you would have two score-tables ect.

trackpads 07-12-2006 12:28 PM

I was thinking because of some of the adult games I would want to keep them seperate. Np, I appreciate you response! I think I will give this a try!

-Jason

MrZeropage 07-12-2006 02:14 PM

You can keep Games separate this way with ibProArcade:

put the adult games in a category ("adult" or something like that) and adapt the permissions that only one specific usergroup can access this category.

Then you can easily manage who can access those games and who not :)

afthl 07-19-2006 07:36 PM

main:
vBulletin 3.0.8
v3arcade 1.0.2

what should I do to upgrade?

MrZeropage 07-19-2006 07:57 PM

the Converter only works for the new v3arcade done for vBulletin 3.5.x

so you could uninstall your v3arcade and start over with a fresh ibProArcade
this ibProArcade v2.5.6+ is compatible to vBulletin 3.x.x

afthl 07-19-2006 08:25 PM

thank you for your reply

I don't know how to uninstall it?
should I only remove the old files ?
what about the tables for the old version in my DB?

please what should I do to uninstall it?

thanking you

MrZeropage 07-20-2006 07:08 AM

there never was real uninstall-function for v3arcade, sorry, even not for those who paid for "premium support" ;)

If you want I can manually do the uninstallation and install ibProArcade on your site, I just need full AdminCP+FTP Access and myphpadmin, send me all access-data via PM.

If you place a little donation via PayPal for that work I would be happy :)

epsol 07-25-2006 12:45 PM

One thing I noticed is it did not transfer over the categories from v3.. Is this something not implimented in the converter, or did I miss something?

MrZeropage 07-25-2006 07:19 PM

this is not implemented, if I will do another version I will look for that, but my current focus is set on ibProArcade v2.5.7+ :)

Cagonni 07-26-2006 07:15 PM

thanks for this man :D
i cant find any games for V3 Arcade but ibProArcade games everywhere :D

i want to said "installed" for this :D

bu its not a mod :D

MrZeropage 07-27-2006 06:10 AM

click "installed" on ibProArcade itself ;)

Cagonni 07-28-2006 10:48 AM

be sure :D

Tasoli 07-31-2006 06:28 PM

I did as you said now v3 games work and yours do not.

stud 08-01-2006 02:11 PM

why I ever stuck with v3arcade - i don't know. Your arcade is great! Thanks!

YLP1 08-24-2006 08:39 PM

I must admit being fairly new to PHP & vB that I was scared to death to move from vb3arcade to IBproArcade.

This installed effortlessly and without flaw!

Awesome Job on this mod ... kudos!!!
