Vidiac vBulletin Integration

Vidiac vBulletin Integration v1.0
by titter

--- About ---------------------------------------------------------------
This will integrate the Vidiac Video Portal system into your vBulletin website.

You must signup with www.vidiac.com and follow all of their instructions to setup the CNAME to their site. This will not work if you do not have a Vidiac Video Portal, or if you try to redirect a subdomain. You must use a CNAME record.

--- Features ------------------------------------------------------------
Automatically resizing video section, resizes to the loaded content.

--- Installation --------------------------------------------------------
Follow install.txt found in the zip.

--- Demo ----------------------------------------------------------------
Live demos avaiable at:
http://www.mobmototb.com/forums/videos.php
http://www.boardingscene.com/videos.php

--- Notes ---------------------------------------------------------------
This will only work if you have your Vidiac setup with a CNAME record from your domain. All browsers block javascript cross-domain scripting unless you have the DOM reference placed in both pages. It is very important that your update the document.domain reference with your correct domain information, and it is placed both in your vidiac_videobits template, as well as the skin settings in your Vidiac portal.

This has been tested in FireFox and Internet Explorer, not tested in any other browsers.

--- Copyright -----------------------------------------------------------
All code in distributed in this zip is ?2006 titter, with the following exceptions:
dynifs.js - Credits within.

Can you send me a pm... its not even working the slightest bit. I installed it correct and edited my templates, but nothing works. It jsut shows a blank screen at www.boardingscene.com/videos.php

It is set on a CNAME... here is the normal site http://videos.boardingscene.com

GrendelKhan{TSU 06-25-2006 04:46 AM

VERY interesting. bookmarked.

any testing with 3.6 yet?

Cky47 06-25-2006 05:53 AM

I am still waiting for the pm...

Did you tell Adam Bruce Yet? HE has been wanting to develope this for a while but hasnt had the time. If this works... it could be a huge change in his company vidiac and vbulletin all together.

titter 06-25-2006 06:08 AM

Files are updated, and PM has been sent. I included the wrong videos.php file in the zip. All is well now.

I posted on the vidiac forums about this, they replied keep them updated. Should work now without a hitch. Make sure you added the documnet.domain script on both the template, and vidiac admin panel! that is the most crucial step ... lol after you fix my mistake DOH!

As far as 3.6 testing goes I have not tested it on 3.6 ... nor have I looked at the system for 3.6. I will mess with that sometime during the next week.

Cky47 06-25-2006 06:22 AM

Lmao... no problem at all, you dont realize how much work you saved me by doing this.

Thanks a TON!

Your my hero lol...

Oh yeah, if you guys wanna check it out http://www.boardingscene.com/videos.php

Much gratefulness for Adam Bruce (Vidiac Owner), His Staff, and Titter

If you guys havent already sign up for his service!

www.vidiac.com

Its free, and you cant beat it. They handle everything for you, you set up a CNAME and your done! Your own video site...

I can help anyone that needs help, I was one of Adam's earlier members.

titter 06-25-2006 06:29 AM

Very nice! I like your site a lot, looks like a great boarding community. Also I agree, ls1tech.com and streetfire.net always got me interested in how it was done ... now I know, and I did it for our local car club, and made this plugin just because I didnt see it anywhere lol.

Allan 06-25-2006 06:45 AM

Very nice, congrats ;)

Click Install ;)

Barakat 06-25-2006 11:15 AM

thanks ....

GrendelKhan{TSU 06-25-2006 11:46 AM

hmm... what if you want to put something else besides the Adsense next to the video section? is that possible? (and I assume we can use our own adsense code if we choose?)

threat 06-25-2006 11:47 AM

Can members upload also? Or only you and its just for viewing? Where do I upload the files in the upload folder? In the root or the forum root? Sorry Im new,,,oh yeah do I have to have a subdomain?

what does this mean? DNS videos.gixxerplanet.com is not pointed to vidiac.com

I put the redirect for the subdomain to point to vidiac.com when you go to www.videos.gixxerplanet.com it redirects to vidiac.com

Hmmm read on there I need to contact my hosting to have them point the DNS to vidiac.com

The Realist 06-25-2006 12:41 PM

Installed but I dont see anything in the admin section to adminsiter anything and the video page is white?

Any ideas?

threat 06-25-2006 12:48 PM

i had to sign up to vidiac.com and the admin section he was talking about was in there

The Realist 06-25-2006 02:01 PM

Thanks.

The Realist 06-25-2006 02:41 PM

There is a problem with the domain name you supplied. It is not pointed to vidiac.com

I added a cname so that video.xxxx.com points to the vidiac.com domain and it still will not let me sign up?

PabloAM 06-25-2006 03:19 PM

Thanks INSTALLED :D

Please. You are pointed subdomain to vidiac.com??

Helpme

Cky47 06-25-2006 05:35 PM

Calm down guys lol... Now who all needs help?

As for the white video layout you have to login to your admin section with your email and then go to the look and feel section... there you can edit your css and template.

And no... you can not remove the ads, that is what help Adam pay for the servers and hosting your videos.

Cky47 06-25-2006 05:41 PM

I also wanted to point out to your guys, that you should update the player options as well. This is what my player looks like in my myspace.

http://www.myspace.com/cky47

Users can get the code for that player and more when they watch the videos.

Notice how they can see info on the video that the users typed and see more videos all from that one player. They did a really good job on this feature.

Cky47 06-25-2006 05:53 PM

The only problem I noticd beside the users not being integrated... is that it uses a iframe, and now when users try to link to the page, they are instead linking to the videos page. Also if they use the thumbnail feature like this...

http://thumbs.vidiac.com/e0123d41-5e...a1e1520f3f.jpgClick here to see Video

It links outsidethe vbulletin site, and now there is no link back to your site, unless you add one.

Maybe me and you can think of something titter... I would love to help.

Cky47 06-25-2006 05:55 PM

First of all your not supposed to put
"Add this script to the top of your pre-portal code:"
In your pre portal section... leave that out.

But I am telling you it is working fine for me... which makes me want to say that you have some type of spam/ad blocker/ or some other plugin installed interfering.

Also what does your site look like normally not integrated...

I cant read spanish as well lol

Your supposed good LOL.

Who redirect to http://videos.boardingscene.com/ ???

Help please

Cky47 06-25-2006 06:36 PM

You mean how did I redirect to it?

You have to set up the CNAME record.

titter 06-25-2006 08:14 PM

Pablo try adding this to both the template, and the site skin look and feel:

Code:

<script language="VBScript">
document.domain = "xboxers360.net";
</script>

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

As far as using your own ads, you cannot. That is part of the Vidiac Video Portal, and why it is free for us to use. Goto www.vidiac.com for any questions or information about the Vidiac portal itself.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Also yes if you do not have access to setup CNAME redirects your hosting company will do it for you. This will not work otherwise.

threat 06-25-2006 09:42 PM

what link do i tell my hosting compnay to reidirect too?

also what is CNAME?

I installed it all, set up subdomain, its just the cname thing is confusing to me

PabloAM 06-25-2006 10:05 PM

The CNAME is configured in CPANEL??

I redirected videos.xboxers360.net to vidiac.com
ok??

threat 06-25-2006 10:15 PM

i set up a subdomain now www.videos.gixxerplanet.com I'm looking in my cpanel now for this cname option.

I cant find, in the subdomain there is a place it askes me to place a link in if I want that subdomain to point to another link. is that the 1?

Cky47 06-25-2006 10:23 PM

It is not a cpanel option, and it IS NOT A SUBDOMAIN lol. YOu guys dont listen at all do you?

IT IS A CNAME...

It is a DNS setting that you or your hosting provider must change.

threat 06-25-2006 10:28 PM

Well sorry Im trying to learn. I read over and over again. I'm trying to find where i change it at or find this dns option. and what do I tell them if i get them on the phone?

threat 06-25-2006 10:45 PM

ok what does this mean?

Current Primary Address Status: The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found

titter 06-25-2006 11:23 PM

Yes do not setup a subdomain. You must contact your hosting company, and have them setup the CNAME record for you. Unless you have access to it yourself. Tell them you need a CNAME record to point from videos.yourdomain.com to vidiac.com (not www.vidiac.com, nor the ip address to their site) They should be able to help you.

More information about CNAME records can be found on the Vidiac website. I will not support Vidiac, they have thier own site, and forums to help you setup the Vidiac Video Portal.

http://www.vidiac.com/Installationfaq.aspx#cname

Cky47 06-25-2006 11:34 PM

Yeah guys... it clearly states it when you sign up, so please do not bring those questions here. If you dont know what you are doing... well then maybe you shouldnt be doing it.

threat 06-25-2006 11:37 PM

Well I'm trying to learn ok, but either way I will figure this out.

Cky47 06-25-2006 11:40 PM

Make a thread on there forum...

threat 06-25-2006 11:46 PM

No need to , waiting on host to make the change for me then I should be good to go
