Hi,

Wouldn't it be great to add the function of a photo album?

I visited sourceforge.com and there are a number of php photo album scripts. But I want to implement it with Vbulletin 2.
What I want it to do is the following:
People have lets say, 1-2mb to upload their pictures to their own album. They can only edit their own album, the rest of the viewers can only view the album. And ofcourse, me as a webmaster has to be able to edit it.

Are there people who are also interested in this?
I'm not that good with php, I'm still learning. Are there people who want to make this?

Steggy... I'ld love to see this hack :)

03-22-2001 12:27 PM

I know, I think a lot of people are interested in such a hack. Now I need someone who can make this or can help me making it.

03-22-2001 12:35 PM

ICQ me. Let's give it a try. :)

03-22-2001 08:57 PM

I would love to see that as well!

The script we are going to use is Gallery. You can find it here: http://gallery.sourceforge.net/

If anyone wants to help, ICQ me ( UIN = 18101322 )

This would be a great hack if integrated into VB. Most of my members are asking for their own photo gallery even though we have a site-wide gallery with the ability of people to upload.

Are you going to use ImageMagick with this hack? I read in the Gallery docs. that there were looking to use this as well.

Anyways I and others are eagerly waiting for this hack.....

Thanks,

oh well, i'm really interested in this,

could test or help, let me know

Thanks.

Steggy 04-11-2001 01:21 PM

I'm starting the hack from another existing script called phpGraphy (http://phpgraphy.sourceforge.net)
Because I need atleast PHP 4.04pl1 for Gallery. And that will take a while. I installed phpGaraphy without hacking it and it works great. So now I can start hacking it.

Maybe someone has some tips for me on how to use global.php in VBulletin for logging in.

Steggy 04-11-2001 01:53 PM

If I want to combine this script with VB, do I have to copy the script to the VB direcory, or can it be anywhere else?

ldydvr 07-03-2001 09:14 PM

I noticed things kinf of went quiet, was the project dropped or did it pick up elsewhere?

=-)

Steggy 07-04-2001 07:13 AM

I know.. I had very little time to work on it. And I couldn't find a good existing script to hack. But I think I found one and I'll try if I can combine it with vB. It's called PhotoDB. You can check it on Sourceforge.

MINI2.com 10-14-2001 02:10 AM

Anyone ever get his hack to work? I made a hack for yapBB for this but as i just ordered vB on top of porting my current forum into vB i need to do this as well. Any one ever got one to work please let me know(save me some time from doing it myself :) )

Redman 10-14-2001 03:52 AM

I finally remodified the code for Gallery and integrated it into VBulletin...

Will give it a try later on when I have the time :)

ScottW 10-14-2001 04:52 AM

I created a Photo Gallery App that integrates with VB's user database and has a similar "look" when users post comments about photos.. Tons of features. I'd love to have feedback:

Redman 10-14-2001 08:39 AM

Do you work with the NSA or something?

That is very professional work and I really love the photo gallery. And its in your CGI-BIN, that makes it all the better...

Keep up the good work...

Steve Machol 10-14-2001 02:39 PM

Very nicely done ScottW!

simonc 10-14-2001 04:37 PM

Great Job!... can we download it and using it? :)

ScottW 10-14-2001 05:27 PM

Thanks :). It has more features than the $240 one sold here, http://www.imagefolio.com. I spent countless hours on it and to help defray server costs/etc for my site I'm probably going to sell licenses for the application within a couple weeks at a much more reasonable price that Imagefolio. If you're interested, let me know! I'm going to probably do two versions: one that will work with vbulletin and one that is a standalone app with its own registration system etc.

99SIVTEC 10-14-2001 10:32 PM

Thats awesome, very nice work. Whats the status of this as far as allowing others to use your script? I would love something like this for my site.

ScottW 10-14-2001 11:57 PM

It's probably a few weeks away from primetime. I need to write an installation routine and some documentation, and do a bit more testing.

Aknowles 10-15-2001 11:13 AM

Scott, this looks a useful bit of software - but it looks like it's all written in Perl / using CGI rather than sticking to PHP. Is this right?

Have you just emulated tha vBulletin look & feel and used the Perl mySql stuff to get the data out, rather than using the core vBulletin stuff itself?

Personally I need a PHP solution that integrates tightly but with flexibility into vBulletin.

Good effort though, looks good. When will a version be available for download? :)

Who cares if it's php,cgi or basic !!! I love it. Good job.

Redman 10-15-2001 09:53 PM

Well buddy, all I ga tell ya is copyright ya stuff. These guys sound like they planning on doing a little "replication" :D

But seriously Scott, lets discuss this mann. I would love the script.

totoro 10-18-2001 05:09 PM

Yeah I Love it too !!!

Can we test it as beta tests ? If you sell it you'll got to verifyif it works fine ;)

I would really like to try it !!!

wacnstac 10-23-2001 06:57 PM

I want it yesterday.

ScottW 10-23-2001 07:14 PM

It's just a few days away from being ready now. I'm optimizing the code today and finishing up the admin control panel. I'll post an address where you can get it, ASAP.

ScottW 11-03-2001 11:41 PM

It's called PhotoPost and it's finally available :)

<a href="http://gallery.sourceforge.net/" target="_blank">http://gallery.sourceforge.net/</a>

There was some talk last year about integrating the Gallery from source Forge into VBulletin. Did anyone ever do this ?

I am interested in this project and perhaps if it has not been started we can get it going again.

Once completed it will be a free hack / add on.

I think it should not be two difficult to integrate the member usenames and password from vbulletin into GALLERY, what are your thoughts.

Is it not just a matter of using your vbulleting database for GALLERY and then having galleries user tables pull the info from the vbulletin tables ?

I am still a novice so any help would be appreciated.

i already made a photo album thingy for my board, its integrated with my hot or not hack so you can upload pics to your photo album and chose if you want them to be rated/commented.

syion 03-29-2002 04:51 PM

I searched your posts and did not see the hack you are referig to can you point me in the right direction ? I would like to try it before i commit to the GALLERY hack.

Thanks

DjSap 03-30-2002 05:49 PM

i dont know if you're referring to me, but the photo ablum hack ive made is only for own board, ill maybe rls it when v3 comes out cuz right now it seems like a waist of time to edit the files so other could use it.

NSeXcellent 04-11-2002 07:38 PM

As a recent customer of PhotoPost, i'll say that you cannot go wrong purchasing this software. Scott is very helpful with the particulars, and the photo gallery has made my site 2x as popular as before. Here's a link to the gallery:

212rikanmofo 04-18-2002 12:29 PM

djslap, release it dude! i been looking for a user photo gallery script where users cant rate one another! kinda like on www.findapix.com
