vB.org Update - 16th June 2006

As many of you already know, Brad, our Designer Administrator, has stepped down due to personal reasons. He has been a great staff member, and he will certainly be missed by everyone. The staff wishes him the best of luck. :)

The recent spur of staff stepping down has been disheartening to everyone; both members and staff. We must move forward, however, and continue with our plans.

First off, I would like to be the first to congratulate the two new Administrators who will be filling the Coding and Designer Administrating positions.

MarcoH64 will now act as the Coding Administrator.

And

Princeton will now act as the Designer Administrator.

We hope to stabilize vBulletin.org and continue with our planned projects. The staff has some new and exciting things in the works, so please be patient as we work on these projects.

Secondly, vB.org will have its first official Site-Feedback ?Town-Hall? style thread concerning the Private Coders forum, and additionally features that you feel will help Coders here at vBulletin.org. More information on this will be posted shortly.

Finally, I want to personally thank everyone for being patient today as the issues at hand were sorted out. It is much appreciated. :)

Logikos 06-16-2006 05:18 AM

Congrats to the both of you and good luck.

Daniel 06-16-2006 05:28 AM

Congratulations you two. Best of luck to the both of you.

Atakan KOC 06-16-2006 05:32 AM

Congratulations Princeton

peterska2 06-16-2006 05:42 AM

Congrats Marco and Princeton

FlyBoy73 06-16-2006 06:28 AM

Marco has worked with me on a number of projects and it goes without saying that he brings a lot to the table. Congrats to vB.org on that note.. I don't know Princeton personally but I am sure he will contribute much as well.

Again, a big thanks to Brad and the rest who have contributed their time and efforts. You all will be missed but not forgotten.. (Unless they prune 10 years down the road and we're all gone :p )

dan35 06-16-2006 06:30 AM

Congrats to the both of you, Marco and Princeton!
Good luck!

sabret00the 06-16-2006 09:07 AM

Congratulations, especially so Marco. I'm really shocked to see Brad's no longer here, i'm not sure if i'm sadder that he's gone or that he never made an official bye thread.

Marco van Herwaarden 06-16-2006 09:28 AM

Although i can't look into Brad's mind, you could look at it in a positive way: No goodbye thread maybe means he is not leaving, just taking it easier.

@All: Thanks for the congratulations.

---MAD--- 06-16-2006 10:10 AM

congrats and good luck.

MJM 06-16-2006 10:18 AM

A lot of volunteer based orgs stipulate a time limit on positions of official duties.

There's a number of reasons for this ...

... which I'm too exhausted to outline.

Ummm ... I guess that's reason #1 ;)

snowlion 06-16-2006 10:24 AM

Congratulations Marco and Princeton

Member to administrator in just over 2 months. Why not just pick some monkeys out of the local zoo and have them run the place? It really shows the poor level that this site has gone to to see all three administrators and several staff leave within the space of a month. Nevertheless, congratulations to you both and I hope you can persuade me, and everyone else that there is a little life left in the dot org :)

Ohiosweetheart 06-16-2006 10:37 AM

Congrats Marco and Princeton

Roms 06-16-2006 10:51 AM

Congratulations Marco and Princeton. :)

Lottis 06-16-2006 10:54 AM

Wow, there are changes every day here now.

Good luck, Marco and Princeton.

3/4 under 14 days. Are you diificoult to work with, Danny? Hehe, its only you left of the admins.

Princeton 06-16-2006 11:00 AM

The departing staff have done a great service to vbulletin. And, I wish them the best of luck. Accepting this position, I promise to do my best to "leap-frog" vBulletin into the future.

Yes, the past 2 months have been hard on everyone. However, despite the recent departures, I assure you we are moving forward with our plans.
Like everything in life, there are hurdles to jump in which we have no control; So, please be patient with us as changes will come and they will be gradual.

thank you all for your comments

tehste 06-16-2006 11:15 AM

Gah. Do you know what continuity means? Why is the thread title 06/16/06 I thought someone had added four extra months to the year and we had suddenly jumped to the sixteenth!

Princeton and Marco are both brown nosers :D So it payed off for you guys I guess.

In the amercias dates are listed as month day year.

smacklan 06-16-2006 11:32 AM

good luck to the new admins and all the staff here as you move forward :)

noppid 06-16-2006 12:59 PM

This reminds me of an old divorce joke.

Meet the future ex-vb.org admins.

davidw 06-16-2006 01:43 PM

Congrats!

We the members make the board. If the board goes to pot it isn't the admins fault.

Congratz to the new admins.

I think it was obvious how bad Marco wanted it. Princeton is cool though, he's a great help around and i always see him helping others.

akanevsky 06-16-2006 03:00 PM

Congratulations Princeton!

soniceffect 06-16-2006 05:31 PM

You was a moderator a big ago, so they must be picking monkeys out of the zoo. But, at least these monkeys know something and actually care about vB.org.

Congratulations you guys, more than well deserved! Brad, I believe I already told you how sad it is to see you leave.

Desihunk 06-16-2006 07:35 PM

I feel a new skin will really help. ;)

I did not make a leaving thread because it was a sudden thing (well an on-going thing for months but it came to a head the other night). I also think they cause a little un-needed drama and I prefer not to make a big deal out of it. :) My step down has nothing to do with all the recent going ons, I just have more important things in my life at this time and I could not spend all my time here anymore.

I really hate to give up my admin position as I love this community, but it was something I had to do. Maybe in a year or so I will be able to devote more time to this place again, I just have to get some things IRL sorted out before I can come back to it all the time like I used to. I will pop-in from time to time to check up on things, and I will also try to keep giving support to the people that use my modifications.

Please try not to give the staff much heat, I promise they are working harder than ever and you guys will see some good things here soon. They really do listen to you guys although sometimes I know it may not seem that way. You just have to give them a little time is all. :)

Congrats to both of you, I know you guys will do a great job here!

Marco van Herwaarden 06-17-2006 07:38 AM

Well it took 2 new admins to replace you Brad. Think that shows how much you did for the community and all should be thankfull for the time you have invested in this Community.

Just a friendly remark: in Quebec (Canada > Americas), they are listed as day-month-year.

Zachery 06-17-2006 09:02 AM

Er, right the United States of Amercia :p

Paul M 06-17-2006 05:02 PM

It would be better to title it "16 Jun 2006" so we don't all get confused.

(it makes no sense in the UK as it is).

peterska2 06-17-2006 05:28 PM

6 june 2006? Now it's makes even less sense

Guest190829 06-17-2006 06:13 PM

16th June 2006, should make sense. :)

peterska2 06-17-2006 06:27 PM

It does now, much better

Adrian Schneider 06-17-2006 07:16 PM

As threads are automatically dated, a more descriptive thread title would be better IMO. :)

"June 16th, 2006" is my favorite date format, and should make sense to most people.

---

Congrats Marco and Princeton, you have both been a great addition to the community as moderators and members.

unless you're in the US military... they use the day-month-year format

I prefer: 2006 June 16
But i guess that is a coder thing, easier to sort etc..

Adrian Schneider 06-17-2006 09:00 PM

I meant it more in terms of "English". I usually write out full dates, but yes, on computers (especially if you are sorting) that makes it really easy.

I love how the focus of this thread is the date, and not the actual announcement...
