What happened to the Plugin forum?? |

I liked all the hacks sorted into Plugins, Extensions, etc.
|
Wow I am REALLY not liking this new database system at all. I would much rather have the old way back if this is how it was planned to be :(
I really do not like the drop down prefix stuff either. I was hoping that would change back to the way before 3.5 where it was just seperate forums for the different pages that the hack modified :( It is not very efficent browsing through all of the hacks this way. |
What is the problem in vbulletin.org ??? Since 1 month many thing change, but many member hate this,me too.
Please convert old style.Because best view for us Plugins, Extensions, etc |
In my opinion get rid of the thread prefix crap and use forums to seperate them like it was in the 3.0.x days. I can live with no knowing if it is a plugin or code hack... if I like the hack I will probably install it anyway. What I do not like at all is the thread prefix and having to use a drop down menu to go to a section. For 1 it is small text and hard to read with it all slammed together, two wont allow me to easily open sections in new windows/tabs with a middle click, 3 makes me use the back button more times than I care to change sections.
I know those who worked hard on this do not want to see this type of comment but honestly I just do not see it very efficent at all. |
I have to agree, but hopefully they're still working on it and it isn't going to stay this way.
Give 'em time |
I love it. I hated wading through multiple, poorly defined subsections. You want a feature to add to your 3.6 forum? Mods -> 3.6 -> Add-ons, there you are. Slick!
|
Nicely done.

if you are looking for a specific mod, just type keywords into search normally you'll find it ;)
|
We didn't need specific mod, because many coder use different name for plugin. We need old style..

I suggest giving the change some time. Experiment with it and see how it goes. As things were before, users were complaining about being unable to find mods in the forums. I am sure the modification database will evolve to be a feature-rich solution for sorting the code.
|
I think the thread prefixes are okay. It's just a different way of viewing subforums but with the advantage you can view them all at once.
I don't like the idea of merging all hacks into one generic forum "add-ons" though. For one thing, code modifications aren't really addons. Pedantics aside, I know it's probably a bit easier for collective searches - though advanced search > select the forums you want always worked fine. And I know it looks a little less confusing to new people, but it's frustrating to have to go into each result and scan the textboxes to see what type it is. It's not so much a hack db as just mass merging. This site has tons of hackers and designers on it, as well as many more casual hack users. Wouldn't it be better to ask them what would be a good design to have rather than just assuming and throwing something together that doesn't actually make things any better? |
Exactly. Isn't the point of a hack database to have things sorted and organized for easier viewing? Granted, some may say that having all the hacks jumbled up with one another makes for easier viewing, but the whole point is to catalogue them.

[high]* soniceffect is reserving judgement ,,,, honestly not so sure whether I like it or not at the moment, but as said previously in this post, give it time guys .. I am :)[/high]

The prefix system is okay, but the issue now is that it takes a helluva lot more navigation to get to what you want.
1) Go to forum's homepage 2) Click on Modifications 3) Click on your version of vb 4) Click dropdown menu to hunt down the sorta mod you're looking for I know, I know it's not a big deal to click a few times. But four clicks to get to the juice of your content? Any website owner worth the name knows that you don't want your audience to have to drill down a navigation structure that frustrates them. The whole raison d'etre of vb.org is the modification area. What's the benefit of hiding the mods away and making things more complicated than necessary? The staff here is great, but geeze, I gotta wonder what's going on when y'all keep making things harder and less intuitive for your userbase. Do you guys remember the old hack database during the vb2 era? How easy it was to access? And best of all, people could get to things either through the homepage hierarchy or the more narrowly organized database. (Options = good!) Vb3 makes it even easier to create alternate views like this. Well, I know you're still futzing around to see what works. That's cool. It'll take some experimenting I guess. Why not ask your users what they suggest? There'll always be differences of opinion, but perhaps a consensus can be found. Not to mention the fact that since things are still a bit tense around here, it's probably beneficial for the atmosphere if you invite the membership to help brainstorm. Ain't it worth trying? |
Current modification category system isn't really that good and doesn't look professional. However use the Show All links to see all at once: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showmods.php?
|
I really dislike it, and I agree to call this a hack db is laughable, it's merely subforums with prefixes that are cluttered together with hacks mixed and matched.
But whatever, I'll wait and see how it goes. But if this is the "hack db" color me incredibly dissapointed. |
This is not the hack db, nor does it have anything to do with that.
Only thing that might be slightly related is that if we implement the hack db, then all the forum categorising is not so important anymore. |
I like the way it is now, although i liked it the way it was before, Yet the way it was before many members complained about it and wanted the hack database up and running asap.....
Peeps, not everyone can be pleased, as i am sure you can understand....... The staff are trying there hardest to please everyone but there will be some that are just not happy no matter what you try lol Come on peeps give them a break I am sure you will get used to it :) |
I do not like how they combined the Plugin, Extensions and Code Mods. I refuse to install any Code Mods, I am very picky on Extensions. This new visual is horrible, sorry but it is.
|
why did you guys do this???? I hate this, I can't find what I am looking for...this new things is not working us...
Danny.VBT please please please change it back the way it was, thank you |
The changes are good to use if you know what you are looking for but I have a feeling a lot of people are going to have trouble browsing to find things they want to add to their sites. Was there any particular reason for the change? Any usability testing?

At first glance, I like the change. I will give it a whirl and follow amykhar's suggestion... see how it like it after using it for a while.
|
I don't really care for the combined Plugins, Extensions, and Code Mods. It was more organized before and easier to find what I was looking for...
The search isn't that effective. For example if I type in "e-mail" than I get 154 results and only a few are really hacks dealing with e-mail.. I realize I'll have to live with the changes and I do appreciate the work that goes into the site... I can live with it, it just makes finding new things to add more of an effort... |

but its good to know it is not the hacks database |
I am lost with this system; it´s confusing and I dislike it.
Please, go back. |

Searching for titles only is a good way to get vaild results. :) Another trick is to restrict your search to only a few forums at a time.
|
I never love file modification and before I seen only plugin forums.Because I know no any files modification in there.
But now everything is in same place. I think many people not like that. Please open a poll and see that. Thanks |
no no no no no.
dont like this at all....this system as it is now is nothing but bloody awkward...lol sorry feedback is negative, but it needs to be said. whilst i appreciate that to move along with the times, change is needed, but this system of board layout isnt a patch on what it was... |
I have to go with the flow and say i'm sorry but i dont like the new system makes everything harder to find and its all in one now, i liked the sub fream layout.
|
Whe n all you like using is Plug-ins because of the easy of install and future vb upgrading, the old system was nice and easy to navigate, now all the hacks are together is a mess.
Well done who thought this would be better!!!! |
