Gars

Hi - I read the message here about an exclude list - I haev the same problem as the original poster, but how do I exclude a forum from being re-written?

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....postcount=1442

I also had the same problem as some other posters, when clicking the 'New Posts' link, I'd get a 404, but I couldn't see the solution to this.

TIA.

If you open the file belonging to GARS main file, you should see something about it defining a script, find that name, and add it to vRewrite's exclude list.

What would tha file be ? :)

The Geek 06-20-2006 08:08 AM

There isnt a GARS main file as such. The scripts will be SHOWTHREAD or FORUMDISPLAY.

Ah, I stand corrected. :)

Thanks for the clarification!

The Geek 06-20-2006 05:28 PM

Not a problem :)

AFAIK - only problem is that GARS will send an extra request variable when browsing between pages.

Immortal 06-20-2006 05:55 PM

Ah, so it should be just a simple modification to the mod_rewrite rule then.

The Geek 06-22-2006 08:29 AM

yea, when an post has been broken into multiple pages and the user goes on to an additional page, garpg is passed in the request like here

hi - thanks for all the replies but as i'm such as dumbass i still don't get it.

What exactly am i supposed to rewrite to exclude my three GARS forums from being rewritten? The .htaccess file, or something in the exclude script section of vRewrite?

And how do I rewrite it? if there's a thread somewhere that explains all this i'm happy to read it - i just can't find it.

Immortal 06-28-2006 08:03 PM

It wouldn't really be quite as simple as a mod_rewrite fix, the script would still need to know when to go to page 2, and to rewrite it.

I can probably whip up a temp. fix for you. Can you provide me a link to a thread that is with GARS and vRewrite at once?

This is my dev site, where GARS is set up in two forums. You can see here what it does - sometimes it breaks all the images/buttons so that only the ALT text shows, and I want to exclude this forum and the other two within this section.

Although this isn't the 'actual' site it would be good if you could take a look and give me your opinion, but on the live site it really buggers things up - when you click 'reply', sometimes all the images dissapear in the reply template too.

Thanks for your help - really appreciated.

Username/pass if you need it is guest/guest.

I'm having the same problem with GARS in a new forum I'm setting up, images are broken and template stylesheet is not found (using css as file to cut down on bw) so it realy gets messed up.

If there is some way to just skip the gars enabled forums somehow and just not rewrite those, that would work fine for me.

I have no clue how to do it since I'm no good with .htaccess :(

Immortal 07-01-2006 09:59 PM

You could just disable that place from the ACP until I get around to look at it :)

ILTK 07-02-2006 12:07 AM

Yeah, I think I'll just work on gars on my local test box and then make it live later, it's gonna take some time to write some articles anyway. :)
