Welcome back! Announcing forum restructure.

Welcome back! :)

I apologize for today's downtime but it was needed so I could change a few things here at vBulletin.org. The biggest change is a restructure of our forums, I hope you find the new layout a little easier to navigate and hopefully this will cut back on the number of posts we get to in-correct forums.

Here is what has been changed in the forums so far:

New Articles Section:

This section will host all articles that deal with vBulletin modification and running a forum. All threads from the old modification hints and tips forum, and vB 3.5 modification tutorials have been moved to this section.

New Section "Modifications, Styles & Graphics":

Everything from the old modification forums has been moved here, this includes all requests and questions. This includes threads from the old 'General Modification Discussion" forum.

These are the main two changes in the forums, there are of course other changes but I think you'll be able to notice them right off. :)

The graphics section was also moved to the modification database, you can see it at the bottom of the list here. Graphic releases also act like all other modification threads now (they got the install button, version drop down, and everything else).

Look for more changes soon, I still have some clean up work to do but everything should be working fine at the moment. :)

great work Brad !

Good job Brad ;)

FLMom 06-03-2006 02:28 PM

Thanks for your hard work!

Atakan KOC 06-03-2006 04:43 PM

nice. Thanks.

I don't agree with every type of request being put into one forum. Makes it hard to differentiate at times, and if a member uses indescriptive titles, one would have to click the thread and maybe even contact the thread starter to figure out whether or not it's gfx or a hack.

Other than that it sounds nice enough :)

I really like the changes, job well done :)

However, with all these changes, it gets really hard to get used to this forums and sometimes it gets confusing to browse. Hope that these are one of the last major changes, other than that, nice job :D

We wanted to have a prefix system ready for that forum before this change but it was something that just was not ready. This has lingered in the staff forum for months and we wanted to get it out of the way.

We'll tweak it and make it fit as we go a long, the major changes are done with it at this point though. :)

Revan 06-03-2006 06:07 PM

Yeah makes sense that there would be a prefix system.
Sounds ok then, as long as there won't be so many posts that threads get pagebumped too much in order to not fall into the abyss...

The graphics section shows up in between the 3.5 and 3.0 modifications for me - In your release you said it shows at the bottom :ermm:

Please fix :p

Chris

That would be because it was moved. :)

Chris M 06-03-2006 09:32 PM

It looks out of place where it has been moved to...

Good update, the forum looks much more organised and direct. However not too sure whether some of the forums are a little too general, so that there becomes a large distinction between the threads overall meaning. Anyway, good job :)

Freesteyelz 06-03-2006 10:12 PM

I like the new staff avatars. :)

EasyTarget 06-03-2006 10:38 PM

yeah, like playing cards..
what happens if I play the brad card against the chris m card?

Freesteyelz 06-04-2006 12:42 AM

Dunno?

I think the Pre-Sale Questions and Service Requests should be in the General Discussions category and not the Community forums.

Roms 06-04-2006 05:06 AM

Looks good, thanks Brad! :)

projectego 06-04-2006 04:06 PM

Lovin' the new changes, keep up the good work!

MrNase 06-04-2006 08:15 PM

Well done, I like the new structure. :)

Indeed it is out of place.

Graphics and styles need their own forum. Several different members have expressed this concern in other threads as well.
