Help my site is as slow as molasses!!!
I don't have alot of members. I have pruned down to about 3500 posts.
HELP!!! Server Type FreeBSD Web Server Apache v1.3.33 PHP 4.4.1 PHP Max Post Size 8.00 MB PHP Maximum Upload Size 2.00 MB MySQL Version 4.0.18 MySQL Packet Size 2.00 MB Hacks installed are: IM Online Status iTrader iTrader Extension Show Itrader In Profile vbBux / vbPlaza I also have flashchat installed I recently uninstalled the Ptz3 and photoplog trying to speed the site up. Is there general maintenance besides pruning that I can do to help and can someone walk me through where to begin looking for the culprit? |
Pruning won't really do much with that low of a post count. Who's your host?
Install this mod: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...ght=microstats And check what your overhead is. |
What are the server load figures ?
|
Where would I find the server load figures. Ipowerweb. I will install the hack sometime and get you the figures. Thanks for both of your quick replies. This is sooo frustrating.
|
IPowerweb is known to be an extremely poor host for vBulletin. I'd say they stuck you on an overloaded shared server.. (it happened to me)
in your admincp look in the right hand pane for a section listing server load, should be a similar pattern to like '23.5 35.5 40.1' |
I would start to single out what hack is the problem. Disable the hook/plugins system and see if the speed is normal. If so enable 1 hack @ a time to find what all the fuss is about.

- 260-320KB download - shared 1.0,.8,.3 - 60-100 hacks install @ the moment. - 17 - 22 queries a page. |

Can you tell me where to look for that information? I went to cpanel and couldn't find it. Or is the server load info on my vbulletin admincp? Or MyphpAdmin? Thanks again!!! |
It's in your ACP on the ACP homepage at the top of the section titled Quick Administrator Links

I don't know what it was, but one host I was with did not allow me to see Server Load. |
when my site bogs down I get the host to purge log files on the server and it's always sweet after that..

Ok guys, I found something that might be something? In myPhpAdmin, since i could not see anything in my ACP under Quicklinks, I found this... Does it mean anything to ya'll? There were other numbers in red. Hope someone can help.
Handler_read_rnd 4 M The number of requests to read a row based on a fixed position. This is high if you are doing a lot of queries that require sorting of the result. You probably have a lot of queries that require MySQL to scan whole tables or you have joins that don't use keys properly. Handler_read_rnd_next 249 M The number of requests to read the next row in the data file. This is high if you are doing a lot of table scans. Generally this suggests that your tables are not properly indexed or that your queries are not written to take advantage of the indexes you have. Slow_queries 506 The number of queries that have taken more than long_query_time seconds. |

Chanks for your reply. I downloaded the zip file and in it were two things: 1 ? product-plugin_vbmicrostats and 2 ? vbmicrostats (an html file, instructions) ? class_core.php (folder /includes) was NOT in the zip ? init.php (folder /includes) was NOT in the zip Am I missing something or is the zip??? |
class_core.php and init.php are vbulletin files, you already have them (vb won't work without them). :)

Duh!!! Sorry, it's been hot here. I am such a ditz. Thanks for answering that dumb post.
Chris. I installed it and here is what it says at the bottom of the page for 12:34AM... Page generated in 1.477 seconds (23.55% PHP - 76.45% MySQL) with 9 queries Sooo, what does that mean to you? Another one. Page generated in 2.044 seconds (-3.44% PHP - 103.44% MySQL) with 11 queries What do these numbers mean? |
