Online / offline icons

does anyone have any online and offline icons, other than the standard vBulleting light things next to the username?

Dan 05-26-2006 05:46 PM

If you look through the button sets in the graphics forums there are a couple of them burried in there. Other than that mine are custom and I really don't feel like giving them out to prevent me from not being uniqueish. But if I get an idea I'll gladly post some for you.

Ohiosweetheart 05-26-2006 07:07 PM

lol.. well, I wouldn't want you to do that, thank you

Shelley_c 05-30-2006 05:34 PM

What kind of design did you have in mind? Pending you still want a set of offline/online icons I'll design some.

PS. I actually designed a set for you but switched off the computer forgetting I hadn't saved them.

Shelley, something simple. I'm not a flashy kinda gal. I'd even settle for the words Online, Offline.
I would like to be able to use them on any color background, so transparent is important.

I'll design something without any transparent areas or curved edges so that it compliments all your styles. I'll possibly post something later today.

Thank you Shelley!

Shelley_c 06-02-2006 04:13 PM

Are these suitable for your forum? (Preview Below).

Edit: How many styles do you have? I'm asking because you could have different online markers to compliment each style. I'm asking because I find the curved pill variants (preview below) would look better (I can do a re-colour modification) but also save the curved online/offline markers to each styles matte background. Just a thought.

I'm sorry, but not really. I hate it that you went to all that trouble, for me to tell you that. But the blue buttons don't go with my styles at all. Kind of why I said that I would even settle with just the words online/offline on a transparent background. That way they'd go with all of my styles.

I'm sorry :(

No need to apoligise. These were designed in a couple of minutes (Feeling better?) I could simply just use text (but I'm sure even you could do that). though I can still type out the titles for you if that's what you need.

What kind of font would you like?
Would you like the font coloured? online=green, offline=red, invisible=grey? or all the same colour?

I would suggest going with a pixel font because even generic fonts, most fonts for that matter contain anti-aliasing which means implementing a full transprent text will look jaggy and taccy looking.

YES I do feel better thank you, lol.

You're right I could do these myself... problem is, I can't get the hang of making them transparent  I made one and saved them in .psp format but the system here won't let you attach them in that format, so I saved it again in png format and it's attached.

If I did them, would you make them transparent for me? LOL. I feel silly asking that.

EDIT: in my Paint Shop Pro, it has the gray and white checkerboard background. The attachment looks like a bluish bg. ugh

I Love the curved ones. I have 6 different styles, of various colors. I don't know if I'm permitted to do this, but here's the link to my site. I'll remove it as soon as you look. The last style, titled daisies, I'm not finished with yet, altho the backgrounds are finished.

:link removed:

I don't need it for the first style (the brown one), but for the others.

Shelley_c 06-02-2006 05:10 PM

Okay. What we can do is make the curved ones for each style. I'll first register at your site and take a look at the backgrounds for each style and save the 3 icons accordingly for each style so there's no white matte showing and they will appear smooth.

edit: I'm blind. Were are the user_online/offline icons located on your styles? If there are none uploaded can you upload any image to all the styles so I can see were they are located and then I can get the ball rolling. :)

Ohiosweetheart 06-02-2006 05:32 PM

LOL... they are all located next to the username in the posts. But on Rose, classic and Peggy styles, they are white, so they're difficult to see. Would you like for me to give you the #colors for those 3 styles?

don't worry about the brown style or the dark blue (Portal blue) style... they came with their own icons.

Shelley_c 06-02-2006 05:35 PM

LMAO

No worries, If the icons are going to be implemented by the username I can just use the Eyedropper Tool to get the hex values. So it's only the 3 styles you want the icons for?

Ohiosweetheart 06-02-2006 05:40 PM

and the daisy style... but that is a textured image, rather than just a color. you can save it if you'd like.

I've modified as requested for the 4 styles with the appropriate matte colour. I also noticed two of the styles were redish so I included both blue and red base variants for those just incase you didn't like the blue (which I think wouldn't suit) but the blue base variants are there just incase you think differently.

Attachment below.

These are great Shelley! I'm still going to opt with the text only for the daisy style. But these are great for the other three. THANK YOU!! *hug*

No problem Ohiosweetheart. They look quite nice, better than I thought they would. If there's anymore you need for any additional styles let me know.

I'll go on the assumption that Ohsweet used the alternative variants (which is of course, good news for me). Well, I'm glad you like them because They look better than I thought they would have done. However, being honest, These are just another rushed set. Once I tweak them up they'll look alot better. ;)

You've been quiet around here recently?

I haven't officially released these icons so I'll rectify the mistake if and when they are released in the "misc area".

bashy 06-02-2006 08:00 PM

How can you improve on these....There great as they are Preview i like a colour to to suit, so i used the red ones for invis and offline and the blue for online :)

Ohiosweetheart 06-02-2006 09:33 PM

Hey you have a pretty colorful place there, bashy. They look great on your site as well.

Can you please tell me how you got that marquee across the top announcing your referral contest? I'm running one as well and I really do like that.
