vbLeague Alternatives?

Are there any similar systems to vbLeague available?

vbLeague is a bit naff in my opinion and I wondered if there are any other similar systems.

there is not much in the way of this type of software. If you think vbleague is off in any way contact the developer, he is excellent and very open to productive suggestions. The software is very well written and Micheal cares about his product

I've created both a 1v1 and a 2v2 (teams) league in the past year or so... I was going to release them here, but recieved little or no response. If I were to release either, it would have to be updated first, because they could both be cleaned up and made more efficient, user friendly, customizable, etc.

What exactly are you looking for in it?

OK, first of all, I appreciate any work done by anybody when it comes to any modules for vBulletin. I dont have the time myself so I don't want my previous comments taken the wrong way. I just feel there are certain things wrong with it that stop me from using it.

The main one is I dont like the fact the you have to keep entering tournament ids to see a particular tournament. Why not just list them and allow users to click on a tournament in that list.

For me, it should all be mouse driven, no need to start entering stuff into text boxes like that.

Secondly, I can't use this software because you are only allowed to be in one tournament at any one time. This should be configurable as I want to be able to allow people to enter as many tournaments at once.

Also, from what I can tell, it is just one league. Maybe I'm missing something here but I would want a seperate league for each different game we play.

Again, I appreciate the effort that has gone into this. I am software developer myself, so don't think I don't understand the effort that goes into any of the work shown on this site.

Ability to have both tournament (organized competition to create a single winner) and ladder (free-form competition to produce ranked players) would be great. Both should be controllable from a separate control panel (so you don't have to give mod/admin rank to the ladder/tourney organizers).

Are there any decent standalone alternatives that don't require vBulletin?

I have even considered writing my own. I am a software developer but unfortunately don't have much free time at present. Hopefully in September I maybe able to look into writing my own system.

Why do you want a non-vb system if you are running vbulletin?

Because there aren't any decent ones for vb.

Would you prefer a vb system if there was one?

I'm not actually bothered anymore. In some ways I'd prefer a standalone one.
