another one down.
Looks like i'm better start to learn coding faster then i wanted to :( |
At first just the attachments were removed, now I see the entire threads are gone too? There was excellent information in all of those pages.
(And because of this removal, they no longer appear in my "Installed Hacks" list either.) I have every one of JumpD's hacks installed, each was excellent and truly helped define my forum's community. His hacks inspired me and interaction with JumpD helped me learn how to code for myself. This is a very sad day for vBulletin.org. :( |
Maybe the staff removed the threads because they no longer had valid files ?
|
JumpD removed his files from all of his post sand I believe he may have requested a removal.

stellar hacks installed could've used that information. And now it's all gone. Quote:
It'd be nice if the volunteers who run this place did whatever they could to make coders like JumpD (the true lifeblood of this community, IMHO) feel comfortable. As an active user and new coder, I know I'll be going whereever there's an atmosphere that makes guys like JumpD feel welcome and appreciated. Because that's where all the good hacks and learning will be. I'm tired of dead threads that keep getting bumped by users, wondering where the original coder has gone. Not even realizing the coder hasn't logged on in months. Complaining and begging for someone/anyone to fix their issue or fulfill their request. It's depressing, quite frankly, and I think I'm starting to see why it's so common. |
:sob: I knew him for his avatar and it fit his name well

I don't use a whole lot of mods on my site mainly because it's a business site and strictly for communicating with the customers. I have, however, used many on boards in the past and found when I couldn't get a hack to work right, I searched, studied and played around with it until I found the fix on my own. I don't really expect support for something that was free. I think alot of the complaining that is going on around here is much to do about nothing, but I haven't walked in others shoes so who am I to say. It just seems to me rather petty and childish...I wouldn't do business with alot of these people if they can't control their emotions...just my .02 ;)

I cannot comment too much on this for obvious reasons.. Quote:
There are innevitably going to be unsupported releases with the files still present that result in the same scenario, and hopefully we as a community can take a look at this and change things for the better. |
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo, jesus! This is frickin BS. Dangit. JumpD has helped me so much, you wouldn't even know. Someone better get this undercontrol....please?
|
Its out of control, sadly enough its a cycle people come, people go. Everyone will just have to live with it and move on. Blasting the staff telling them they arent helping the situation is useless, as it doesnt help the situation at all either. I'd imagine the only way anything will be able to get done is go straight to vBulletin, but even then thats probably not going to do much good :-\

He made some of my Favorite Mods. :(

If so why do i release... Also i have noticed that there is like 1 hack released everyday now (if its a good day)... When it used to be 6+ a day. |
I wasn't blasting, only crying :/

I know, i wasnt saying anyone in particular. but if you read some of these posts some people are making its rather apparent. Sorry if you thought it was at you

My point is, JumpD did not request that these release threads be taken down. He removed the attachments while he took a breather, with the explanation linked above. A mod then took it upon himself to remove the threads in the meantime. For what? A some show of oneupmanship? This accomplishes nothing to quell the tension around here. In fact, it reinforces it. Some of the mods are making this personal. I think this is the sort of behavior that is frustrating users and coders alike. |

The behavior and attitudes on both sides of this issue are disgraceful. So a talented coder gets pissed off at one frustrated staffer's tactless comment and retaliates by harming the entire community, including people who have thanked and supported him. Then the mods immediately yank his threads to eliminate all traces of the guy, even though the very software they're supporting includes a very easy solution to prevent the terrible "bumping" feature. Is this Jelsoft or Junior High? C'mon guys, you're all better than this bushwah. |
This pretty much proves all points on what they think of individual coders. They were deleted to ensure that I could not change my mind and put them back up. They can make mistakes or make stupid or rude comments and we are expected to get over it. We do anything and it's existance removal time. vBORG, assimilated or eliminated.
Too bad all those abandoned hacks, that still have a crapy useless zip file, are getting bumped everyday. Maybe those should be eliminated. |
yeah, I see no problem with just locking his threads... the information in there is very useful to the people that already have the mods installed...

Anyway, for your information as you seem pretty angry about this, the threads are not completly gone. If he decides to come back, we would be able to re-instate those threads if we decided to do so. There's nothing left to add to this thread so I'm closing it. If you have any further queries please PM me. :) |
I will still give a short comment on this since i was the Staff member that happened to remove them.
It has always been vBulletin.org policy to remove threads if the hack is withdrawn. If no file is attached it is not considered to be an active hack. Until now i never saw anybody complaining about that. We never hard delete any thread, and if an author wants to publish his hack again, all he needs to do is ask for it to be restored and add the hack file again. Again this is nothing new and has always happened. Since JumpD himself announced that he would withdraw his hacks, the policy was followd as usual. PS I know that there are more threads that don't contain the hack files anymore, and they will be handled if spotted by staff or reported by a member. |
