A Music Online Mod for vBulletin(Port/Transfer)

Alright, well I know its possible to port/transfer it to vBulletin, which is great, but my one big concern is my Music Online Hack that is used on my forum, which is a must/need and a big prorierty to my forum, and to my decision to switch over..

Now is it possible to switch over the Music Online hack with all its enough in tact successful? and also the tracking system?

my website is www.MkMuzika.com

Its a Site for Macedonian Music, and I have alot of it, and I need everything to stay in tact, but is it possible?

Thats my only big concern, if I cant well looks like I wont be getting vbulletin :(

Brandon Sheley 05-13-2006 10:37 PM

not sure what your using, cuz all I seen after waiting 3 mins is a red screen, but there are a few music mods here ;)

njolakoski 05-13-2006 10:55 PM

<a href="http://www.mkmuzika.com/forum/portal.php" target="_blank">http://www.mkmuzika.com/forum/portal.php</a>

really, you dont see anything...

Id like to know as soon as possible, so I can decide whether to buy it or not..

bashy 05-14-2006 02:16 PM

Is this what your referring to? http://www.mkmuzika.com/forum/music....c6c40c8311bd05
I had no probs with your site loading, it was pretty quick for me!!
If its not possible to convert there a few hacks on here that will do what you want im sure!

You may need to post in the premium section as it may cost to do exactly what you need
More so with the database thats storing the information for your music!

njolakoski 05-14-2006 02:22 PM

Thats exactly what Im referring to. The Music is all stored in a folder, and the rest is (i think) like the info who uploaded and such is in the database,

I really hope it doesnt cost anything :(

I really need to convert it as I want everything to stay intact info, because from the Music Online, each person in there profile, it shows how many songs have been uploaded and downloaded by that person...

bump!

Hello njolskoski,

Thank you for your interest in vBulletin.

Unfortunatly it is not possible to give you a straight answer. You want to keep your current Music modification when moving to vBulletin.

Since we have no knowledge of your current modification or how far it (if at all) integrates with a forum, it is not possible to tell if it will work together with vBulletin.

If it is written PHP with a MySQL database, then in theory it should be possible to integrate it with vBulletin.

Without seeing the sources it is however not possible to say how much work it would be, but it should be possible.

If you don't think you can create the integration yourself, there are a lot of members here that might want to help you with it, either for free or for a payment.

njolakoski 05-17-2006 06:56 PM

Hmmm, Well it is written PHP and based on a Mysql database.

How could I post the "Sources".

Because the hack is downloadable, and has not been re-done or completely customized, its the same as the download...

IF someone could help me and how I post the sources, I'll be gladly too do it.

Here is the mod for Phpbb2 which is called Music Online

Thanks!

Hey nj! :)

njolakoski 05-17-2006 08:16 PM

Hey CB....I took your advice ;)

davidw 05-17-2006 08:55 PM

Looks like it - good luck on the mod. I wish I could help ya there. If you need anything, well, you know where I am.

njolakoski 05-18-2006 12:26 AM

Thanks for looking!

Bump...for more people to look at.. :)

njolakoski 05-19-2006 01:22 AM

:( bump...Still looking for an answer, after posting the the mod that i need ported..

Marco van Herwaarden 05-19-2006 07:01 AM

Since it is coded in PHP and uses a MySQL database, i don't see any reason why it couldn't be ported to vBulletin.

I don't know how much work it will be to change it into a vBulletin integration however. It would be a considerable amount of work.

Also please note that i don't know if their are any license/copyright restrictions, preventing a direct port.

njolakoski 05-19-2006 06:34 PM

I dont think there are any copyrights......

Bump again!

Even something similar to that, as long as all my info stays in contact would be suitable.

I love this site already, soo helpful :)

bumpy!

njolakoski 05-21-2006 12:44 PM

bump, also forgot to mention, my site has a tracking system in a sense. It shows in your profile how many songs you have downloaded, and how many you have uploaded......

I would need that transferred also.

davidw 05-21-2006 04:30 PM

Have you considered putting this in service requests forum?

njolakoski 05-21-2006 05:57 PM

I would but I really dont have much to give.

njolakoski 05-22-2006 08:53 PM

njolakoski 05-25-2006 09:33 PM

njolakoski 05-27-2006 05:49 PM

The only way I can post in the money request area, is if i have a legal copy of vBulletin, correct?

Dan 05-27-2006 05:51 PM

Correct, once you have a licence you will be able to post anywhere on the forums that you can see.

njolakoski 05-27-2006 11:23 PM

Well hoping to get all my money ready this week so I can purchase vBulletin 3.5.4

njolakoski 05-29-2006 02:56 AM

Another Question... Would GoDaddy's Delux Plan Suffice for vBulletin, or is there hosting not quite at par for vBulletin?

Because they have really good prices, and they got what I need. My old host was great, but he is shutting down.

Dan 05-29-2006 03:23 AM

I'd really steer clear of GoDaddy for hosting, I've heard some horror stories from them. There's plenty of good cheap hosts out there, you just have to find them, I personally use DreamHost.com not the best host on earth but works. I've heard some good from ASmallOrange ( http://www.asmallorange.com/ ) too.

peterska2 05-29-2006 03:43 AM

The host is use is based here in the UK, but they are very reliable and very affordable. It's ?20 (approx $35 USD) for a whole year, with 12GB bandwidth a month, and a decent amount of disk space. They are at www.webmania.co.uk I've also heard good things about a small orange

njolakoski 05-29-2006 04:23 AM

Well the problem is I need at LEAST 25GB of Web Space........a alot of Bandwith also..

And GoDaddy has that....
50GB of Space, with 500Gb Of Transfer for 6.29 for 12 months

bumpidy....

njolakoski 05-31-2006 08:11 PM

Is there a hack for 3.5.4 that looks like this http://www.techimo.com/forum/index.php?

The Recent Discussions Box, is what I want...

davidw 05-31-2006 08:27 PM

<a href="https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=83230" target="_blank">This</a> is probably what you are wanting (to a degree).

njolakoski 06-02-2006 02:19 AM

hopefully your right, I cant really tell as of right now...

davidw 06-02-2006 10:28 AM

NJ, what you may want to do is (if you are going to purchase the license, which I feel you probably will, is just set up a second site (for testing), import everything to the second site while running your original as normal, and implement these hacks as if it might work. Then you could go from there. That's what I did when last year moving from <gasp> phpNuke. I still have the old Nuke site and the database (including the testing I did to make sure it would work the way I wanted it to).

I was most likely gonna do that, on my home server just to test it..

njolakoski 06-03-2006 02:27 PM

Will be buying vBulletin today :)

Dan 06-03-2006 02:31 PM

Great once you have that licence make sure your email address here is the same as the one purchased vBulletin with or add it to the priority support form in the members area and you should display as licenced immediately and be able to post anywhere on the forums.

davidw 06-03-2006 02:43 PM

Don't forget to give me credit for the sale <wink> </wink>
