darn taxis
 

Three times tonight my windows and door have been knocked on. Twice I didn't answer, the third time I was ready with a chunk of 2x4 to plant whoever it was at my door. It turns out that someone has booked a taxi for my address. Now here there lives me, and two cats, and the only phone I have is safely in my pocket so I know they haven't used it. It's been going on from between 4:15am and now 4:50am. I tell you what, if they come back again, I'm calling the police. No-one should be turning up uninvited at someones house at this hour. Had I been asleep, I'd have panicked a lot worse than I have done anyway. It's downright stupid and inconsiderate.

if there's a no parking zone in front of your house, call the cops. then when the taxi comes again they'll get a fat ticket

It isn't the fault of the people in the taxi, someone has called in a prank on you and you're enjoying the result of it.

Kids are my guess. When I was younger we used to call up tow trucks and send them after ghost cars.

It is a no parking zone as I am right on a major road junction with double yellow lines and traffic lights.

I just wish I knew who had called it in Brad. Actually I have sorta an idea, and if it was the person I think it was then she will need more than a bandaid by the time I'm finished with her. She's been messing with my head for a couple of months now so it wouldn't surprize me.

Are you listed in the phone book? You'd be surprised how often people go through it looking for names, just to prank call or do something like this to them. Unless you've made someone mad in the last couple of days, it's most likely kids.

If they come around again ask them if you can get the number of the person that called them (assuming they didn't block it). If you do call the cops they can trace it, but honestly I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts happening multiple days in a row. If it is just a random person doing this, they'll get bored with you soon enough.

Also, if you'd like to avoid this in the future, pay to have an unlisted number.

Related story: We were doing this once, many many years ago. We came upon a name "Blaze Moore", house address 420 Evergreen road. I laughed for hours about that one. ;)

I'm not listed. I don't even have a home phone, just my cell phone and skype. What more does a girl need really?

Darn AJAX quick title edit wouldn't let me into the thread then, it just kept wanting me to edit the title. When I want that to work it never does. Typical.

^ I never answer my door these days either.. to many salesmen or kids wanting me to fix this or that on their computer (go figure.. LOL)...

I keep mine locked. My room is in the back, so if you nock I don't hear you anyway. It's funny I don't hear people nock because I hear noises all the time and get up because I think someone is in the house. :)

I live alone but I shut the bedroom door when I sleep because it's more quiet; I don't hear the front door if my bedroom door is shut..

If the person called the taxi service from his/her home or cell phone that's one way to regulate the legal way. The taxi service may even have a case to bring up charges. The price of gas is high these days.

Bloody taxis. Another thing that annoys me about them is tha they're the worst drivers on the road. I've only had my license for 4 months and the amount of times they've either cut me off or not let me change lanes etc.... bloody hate em.

You'd be driving like a mad man if you made a living that way. ;) The taxi drivers don't bother me much (then again we only have two in town, with a car each...). Now the women putting on make-up in the right lane passing me doing about 80mph, them I worry about.

the wosrt ones are the ones who are putting makeup on while talking on their cell phone and not touching anything coz they just painted their nails - and thats just the guys!

I'm surprised they wern't reading the news paper and drinking coffee. :D Or how about that guy that almost hits you cause he's trying to switch CDs? :(

I swear some people shouldn't be on the road..

I don't think I'll be going back behind the wheel of a car. It's too dnagerous now.

But still, there's some things they've just gotta do to abide the road rules... even though they seem to do just what they have to do to obey them and nothing else.
