Funny how the simplest things can be so complicated.

good job

john1744 05-07-2006 08:47 AM

Yah it threw me off for some time too. Perhaps adding some red font to it to get it to stand out a tad bit more?

Paul M 05-07-2006 10:33 AM

or a forum called modifications that links to the page.

I think I understand why this was done, but I don't think it's a great idea hiding away what is probably the most important part of the site. You can put all the announcements you like - you know people don't read them, there is just going to be thread after thread asking where the hacks/mods are ......

rabidkevin 05-07-2006 03:41 PM

I personally bookmark myself to this URL
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=109

which shows all the 3.5 forums together :P so much easier to search for something currently in existance or being talked about for creation when all the forums are together.

Top of the page:

Home - Forums - Modifications - Chat

Paul M 05-07-2006 05:51 PM

Err, Yes, I know that.

Adrian Schneider 05-07-2006 08:30 PM

I like the change! Less time scrolling to find the actual forums...

The Chief 05-07-2006 09:08 PM

I rather how it was before, unfortunaetly...

Blue-Inc 05-07-2006 10:32 PM

Yeah, I actually liked it before, but I guess you have to get use to things. =/

Chris M 05-07-2006 11:05 PM

When the hack database comes the forums won't exist in their current state anyway so its better to get used to a change now and a smaller change in the future than it all happen at once :)

Why does EVERYONE miss this? Surely when you visit the home page, and then click for the Forums from the tab, it should be seen?

No offence to anyone who has missed it, I just fail to understand why there is so much confusion in it. This is the best change to vB.org I have seen for months. It sucks that nobody can see it :P

Ohiosweetheart 05-07-2006 11:48 PM

people don't like change, especially when we're always making changes to our own forums, lol

I think the same.

But I can live with this.

PennylessZ28 05-08-2006 12:18 PM

I wanna know how you did it

I concur.

However, I agree that some sort of announcement should be created.

PennylessZ28 05-08-2006 12:24 PM

Yeah, I was alil used to the old way, it took me a minute but I figured it out. I was just like.... where'd it go, ohhhh ok. Delayed response. :)

Let there be then. We'll put a smile on our faces and answers anyone who asks. Nobody is, however, forcing you to answer people who ask this. If it bothers you - ignore the thread, and somebody nice enough will tell the person where they've been moved to. Like you said, no amount of announcements will stop this, but it's not something we're going to change. We did it for several reasons - many a lot more worthwhile than completly reverting it just to stop a few harmless threads of members innocently asking what has happened. It's not good on behalf of this community to see members saying where it is followed by something like 'look here next time idiot' or something like that. But in short - nobody is forced to reply to these threads. If they bother you, its best to ignore them and let the staff handle those questions and let members who ask not feel bad for doing so or feel like idiots, or whatever.

Over time, people will get used to the change and the threads will die down. Until then, it's not the hardest thing to bare with the threads. :)

Rickie3 05-08-2006 01:25 PM

licensed user should have been notified of the change,we all know its not hard to do a mass email or make an announcement,I admit i was confused and was wondering what was going on,maybe administration should highlight the new "MODIFCATIONS" button in the navbar in "RED" so members know whats going on here, instead of thinking we are mind readers, this is not about idiots or fools, its about members and what they were used to and seeing

Maybe you should take your own advice when Paul M posts. Your constantly expressed personal feelings towards him make the rest of us uncomfortable.

Thank you very much.

I like the change by the way.

Freesteyelz 05-08-2006 11:15 PM

1. I'd like to see the number of views shown on the Mods' Forum Home for each forum (e.g., 4 viewing).

2. I understand that Brad will re-work the Latest Releases column to bump the number up from the current 5 but I'd rather have it on the top of the forums (just bottom of the navbar) listed in columns. You can fit more information and/or separate the mod categories that way and it's up-front making things user-friendly. It'll look similar to the Latest Threads, just modified.

PennylessZ28 05-09-2006 09:23 PM

So how'd they hide them is what I wanna know.

It's the internet. I don't make personal grudges on people because of what they type through some wires or whatever. I'm sorry you think that way about me but that's not the case. Have a nice day taking the internet so seriously. I'm nice to everyone here, and you know, after what you just posted, accusing me of that, I could sit here and abuse you too, but I don't, because I'm not like that. I'm not a stuck up person, I'm easy going and I take everyone's opinions here seriously, and it upsets me thinking some people don't even notice, and then can say "You hate this and that person and have a grudge against this and that person" You cant. Simple. So don't try to poison my name on these forums when you don't have a right buddy.

I don't even know why I do this sometimes, coming here, listening and replying, when I have to cop that in my face, telling me I have personal grudges against others and try to make it look like I'm some evil kid when I'm not.

Thanks a lot for that.

Code Monkey 05-10-2006 01:27 PM

You're not fooling anyone. It is obvious to far more than me that you have a problem with this person and express it in not so subtle ways at every oportunity. You can continue to ignore this about yourself and go on embarasing the position of moderator here, but you can't hide the facts.

If you don't know why you do this moderation, as you yourself say, then you probably shouldn't. Do something useful like release a mod.

Chris M 05-10-2006 01:38 PM

Ok I think that's enough now...

Please take your issues to PM guys and lets leave the tension out of the forums :)

Chris

And so what do you think our job is? What am I not doing right? Is disagreeing with a member making me an 'embarrasing moderator'? You've got some whacked up ideas about what a mod is supposed to do then.

And I've said before - I don't hate anyone here. I don't hate Paul M either. In fact I like his opinionated posts sometimes, I sometimes do that too (as you've probably seen) and I can respect him for that. If you think otherwise, think it, but don't post it and try to poison my name. From now on I'll just edit those baseless accusations out of your posts. There are rules here you still need to follow. As for that comment about releasing mods, I'm doing something a bit more useful with my life right now. There's some more important things that need moderators attention on this forum, that's what I'm here for. Making posts like that doesn't exactly put my attention elsewhere, does it?

Code Monkey 05-11-2006 01:29 PM

Ahh, and here come the threats. Thanks for proving my point.
