Alpha: VBSoccer Tennis Cricket Formula1 - (others sports are being modified)
 

Hi,
These r some additions i am adding to my own forums containing livescores pages, and other pages for tables of major leagues, fixtures, standings and fixtures.
Some of the content is routed through my site including the first 4 attachments, while sports.zip which enables
Soccer, tennis, hockey, baseball, basketball, and american football
Will act as follows : Cron job to download the feeds from my website, parse into database, and the sports.php will accordinaly show which tables selected to users.

Attention: None of these files will work if you do not have allowurl_fopen_on




All you need to do is upload two files, few images and create two templates using the xml product file included.
Your server must allow you to include remote files ( allow_url_fopen = on )
There is no installer as they are only two templates to add manually.

I am still developing this for further additions so it might follow some updates especially if i was given more ideas.

The livescores page contains a Link to a freebet.php file that i did not include but rather is up to you to create and add your own content page since you cannot modify the body.
Though you cannot modify the table itself but its percentage table thus you can edit the template as you may and just make sure to keep the variable.
The goals.php and standings.php are non vb pages but rather popups, their style is included within the en.css style sheet thus you can edit to match your forum look and feel.

To install just upload the files, add the two templates, and dont forget to link to it from your navbar or header.

nb: crickinfo.com provides the feeds for free as long as you keep their copyright, parsing technique Copyright 2005 Drew Phillips

and replace with your actual forum path this setting will actually put a cached copy of the rss feed on your desired directory so you dont overload your server connections

To Install :
1:Export scorestables.xml
This will create your required database tables.
2: Export ONE of the templates xml files the first one sportstemplates.xml has also links to the previous attached files if installed, the second does not if you are using sports.php alone.
3: upload sports.php to forum root, and owsoccer.php to includes/cron/
4: Add the cron job as described in the note ( See the picture included in the zip file ) and DO NOT change the minute value, it is set to update once per hour, keep it so , as the feeds are updated once per hour too and it will not be any more usefull if you hammer my server with requests !
Finally,
For using any of those add your own navbar or header links wherever you find suitable on your forum.

Attention : I removed sports.php , untill i resolve some communication setting and few other issues, the rest are working fine.

en.css ( because of changed goal and standing class names)
images to be uploaded to your forum images directory.
If you are updating, its enough to replace those files with no further editing or installing.

I'm a complete novice at this, so please bear with me! I installed this added the templates etc. How do I view the templates or see the livescores page?

This hack is only interesting if we can install it fully locally without routing anything trough your site.

I want to translate and modify it and can't do so now.

Also I hate the idea installing files on my system where I don't know what they're doing and transfering.

I was thinking the exact same thing as jluerken. You are obviously pulling the info from somewhere, so why not just add how the info is pulled and let the users install it on their site the same way you did it on your site?

Is it just soccer or can it do any sports?

This is a very interesting addon but I am in agreeance with Rich and wonder why it cannot be fed direct, rather than from your site ?

I would begrudge installing a mod that uses someone elses affiliate id without at least being informed first.
That really takes the edge off it when you are able to add a donate button here with statements such as "Please donate to aid future development and improvemnts" I know not everyone donates but many who really appreciate top addons do.

First, and logically to answer wether it can be harmfull, as a coding it cannot be ! as ANY CODE is actually excuted on my server not yours so that cannot harm your server in anyway and you coders should know that well !
Second, why is it routed through my website, well thats exactly what am trying to avoid as i DO NOT really like the fact of dependency on my site but also as many of you know , there is NO FREE LIVE rss feeds, and this is not free , am paying for this.
The only way to distibute a direct link to the feed is by distributing a zend encoded or ioncube encoded version, and in such case, it will then raise more questions wether its doing anything harmfull or not, as well as its not allowed by vborg in first place.

JumpD, i do have feeds for several other sports, but mainly i started with this because i love football (soccer to americans) so maybe ill add few other sports but first by releasing this on dependency on my website am really trying to figure out cons of this before i get myself on more stuff.

jluerken , to which translation you want to be ? currently i have a french feed of the same source but no more, as also note that am pulling through rss, thus you cannot translate everything !

bashy, am not sure if thats true, but the rss am subscribed to should provide all major leagues as well as many country leagues.
Ill compare with priemiership schedule and the rss feed and see if am missing it or its not available in first place, if you notice any missing leagues too please let me know. thx

ForYou, actually it cannot be translated , as for your info as well, even arabic leagues that are online, their rss feeds providors post their rss in english, if you happened to see an arabic leagues rss feed, then ofcourse it can be done afterwards, but not a website that i know of anyway.

My issue wasn't with security. My issue is with the fact that it can't be tweaked and modified. I use very few mods from vb.org that I haven't modified. Is it possible for you to add how you are pulling this, where you are pulling it from, etc.? Those of us that want the ability to do this may also be interested in paying for the same service you are using if we knew all of the details.

Another concern I had was you stating you can terminate this mod at any point. I don't care for that. If I were to install something on my site, 'I' want to be in control of when it gets disabled if that time ever comes. I certainly don't want someone else controlling that!

Now that you have stated this is a paid for modification you have made, are you not violating their TOS? You had to pay for the information (you stated that) and you are giving that to the users on this site free of charge. Unless I am mistaken, that is stealing their paid for service. I am also skeptical in the fact that some of the users on this site could get in trouble for "stealing" this information?

If it isn't stealing the information, then there is a way for us to get the feeds directly from the source, free. That is the only way this would not be considered stealing!

Ok, I have a MAJOR issue with this now. I just downloaded the files to see how this is handled. What the hell is the affiliate code? Are you trying to get users to earn you money by displaying your ads on their site?

The affiliates code is found in the Standings.php file. What is that?! Its also located in the goals.php file.

Rich , have you heard of agreements ? ofcourse u did.
So before i paid i was clear that am going to redistribute this for my own page popularity ! And thats why my link is forced with the feed, now you know if i dont force the feed, it can and might be distributed without my link.
And since i pay for this and i put effort on this, this is all i am asking for and well you are not binded to neither download it or install it !
Google for some live scores content providors, request a quote.
Buy rss feeds ( as much as you are willing to pay for + how many feeds)
Parse the rss, include it in a page !:)

Now just a note : When u want a branded service , its their for free, when u get unbranded service , then u pay for a reason no ?


As per your second comment, those are the files am using , feel free to remove the code, but they are not served from my server as you see and the soure is visible :)
I updated the zip file and removed those banners as these were not intentionaly left in the zip file but rather because i never updated those two files after first creation.

First I want to say I enjoy this service, my site would be rejected due to content by many of the providers, but I have many European members so this is a fun feature, I also enjoy Football.

One question, you mention.
Not that I mind since you are paying and providing the service to us for free but it redirects back to your site's freebet.php, I presume there is no way to change this?

TomasDR , its supposed to reflect request url /freebet.php for your own creation, would you please post or pm me a link to see what it reflected ? So that i can fix it right now.

I asked you where you paid for this. Its a simple question that requires a simple URL. Some of us are not interested in making your site popular. We are interested in adding JUST the feeds to our sites in real time. So instead of trying to dance around the question, please share where you "paid" to get this information so others can simply buy the same service and add it to their site without trying to increase your sites popularity.

I won't be installing anything created by you. I just checked out your site and viewed your ebay modification. You may want to stay on top of the mods on your site, it has been hacked! Here is a screenshot for those that wish to see what I am referring too....since he will likely take it down once he reads this.

(Makes me wonder exactly how secure this mod is!)

Rich, true i took it down , but this unfortunate event was really overdue, it was when vb released updates and i didnt and those pages aint even updated thats why i wasnt even notified about them untill this second.

Bit silly releasing this then taking it down again for server mods and so on, perhaps you should have waited to release it m8 :)

bashy, you are right but i have two explanations for that
first the server migration was planned but the datacenter was supposed to let me know earlier and i suddenly saw it down and knew the migration started with no warning (trust me you are not half upset as i am ).
As for the MOD itself, i released it as a BETA because i didnt see any fault then i was jumped off with things i didnt expect, a seperate rss website on a dedicated server is being set by the provider for the feeds to be linked without passing through my website tchatting.com.
They will still go through their website parsed and you can choose to get rss feeds yourself and parse them using my mod or your own !

As for other requests, i did this for football (soccer) because its what me and my community watch and followup, i will try to set up other feeds as per your suggestions as such cricket, nfl, basketball and live lines for sports etc.
Again sorry for the inconvience but this is what BETA is !

no end of data and files!!
