Limiting thread ratings to one who posts & Usergroups you Defined only
hello,
its very fine to have some spare time to write some simple plugins  Now according to THIS Request I Go on & write the following product Description: This Hack prevent any one from rating other's thread exept thread starter can rate his own threads, in addition to users of usergroups you defined in the "Usergroup IDs That can rate other's Threads" option. Features: Limit the people who can rate a thread or post to:
Version History: 1.0.0 initial (24/4/2006) Installation: Just Import the product form admincp & enjoy Use: Go to admincp-> vbulletin options-> Poll and Thread Rating Options-> last two options (new) & modify according to your needs. Known Issues: 1- This Hack can conflict with can't rate own threads Hack, You must not install the two in the same time becouse they are opposite to each other. 2- You can specify only one usergroup ID in the option "Usergroup IDs That can rate other's Threads". There is two products (English [en] / Arabic [ar]) Choose one. Don't Forget to Press https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/ Thats ALL // Peace |
What about in a scenario where all people, regardless of registration, are allowed to enter threads and posts: In that situation, can you still limit the thread rating to the person who posts or the admin?
|
if you mean that display threads is allowed to all (registered & un-registered users) I ask you a question: what is the permisions for un-registered/un-logged in users ?
they can rate threads? they can post threads? they can post replies? also Is there any custom forum permisions? or access masks you made on your forums? |
Thanks!
|
will you be upgrading this so that more than one usergroup can be added in the option "Usergroup IDs That can rate other's Threads ?
We want both our admins and moderators to be able to rate the threads. |
Why would you want to allow anyone to be able to rate your own thread? Wouldn't it be better to only allow those who post in a thread to rate it and not those who don't post? And not the thread starter, either. ;)
|
If the question is directed at me, it's a monthly contest that we do on our forum, to encourage quality threads.

I would think only allowing those that post in a thread would have more of a right to vote on that thread than someone who really doesn't care about the thread enough to partake in it. And anyone rating their own thread is too biased to be allowed to vote. There's no objectivity in doing that. There can't be. ;) |
agreed

Update: I've found the hack I was looking for here. It may be possible to make it conditional on usergroup too with some extra coding. |
I used the usergroups and have limited thread rating to admins and mods.
No you can't limit them individually, neither can I remove the ratings already in place without going into the database. UGH |
