this hack give thread starter option to mail/pm users who have posted in his thread like in vb.org when i mail users who clicked install for update

Thanks; you make good hacks. Please be so kind to involve the installation instruction with the product in a zip file, so everyone is able to read it when installing later or has to install once more after an upgrade without sreaching or looking for the whole original thread on vb.org.

Wow nice Idea!! Can Admin also send a mail or pm for any particular thread. That would give admin an added option of inviting members to the forum.

Lets say I only want certain usergroups using this, is that already in it? Or maybe you can add that option to the planned list. Because I only want staff to be able to use this on my site, and maybe 1 other usergroup.

even having a log system wont prevent some users to spam our members. This would be awesome in my opinion.

Having a field in admincp for max updates every day or week maybe.

Doesnt work for me.....I get a server 500 error after it times out, it just sits there for maybe 5 mins or so...then gives me the error.

I dont really like the whole "support only give to who click install", its kind of a cheap way to try to get on HOTM ;[ . At any rate, good job :D.

Okay, that could seriously hamper a lot of servers if the total starts to rise above about 50/100 at a time (depending on how powerful the server is).

If you change the 'true' to 'false' in this line, then they will go to the queue system.

That's still a problem for most people, but it is at least then solvable with something like my cron based mail queue processing.

Installed.

I've had to tweak a couple of things though, namely

didn't work for me, and I had to replace it with

Other than that, I had a complete nightmare getting it to update from 1.0.0 to 1.1.0 as I installed then discovered the update (typical really). It wouldn't overwrite properly, then wouldn't uninstall, so I had to do a big chunk of it manually via phpmyadmin, which wasn't fun at all :(

On the plus side, I can see this being really useful.

Nope; when changing the code version the settings for the permission is no longer shown in the forum menue.

So you have to leave ist as it is or change another code in the script.

It even does not alter the table forum with "allowupdate".

So if one of you have the same error use this with phpmyadmin:

ALTER TABLE vb3_forum ADD allowupdate SMALLINT(5) UNSIGNED DEFAULT '1' NOT NULL;

It´s working when the field "allowupdate" is present in the table "forum".

Ehr... one question, maybe I just don't get it:
If "Enable Pming?" is set to 'yes' and "Enable mailing?" is set to 'yes', too, the thread starter sends a message to the users as a PM and a mail?

I just don't get the following sentence:
use this to enable send pms
uses this or mail

;)

Edit:
Could it be, that just one option should be activated or otherwise the update would be sended as PM and Mail?

I have installed tried your code and peterska2 code as well but i just do not see the update button... What have i overlooked, oh and yeah it is enabled :)

yeah it sends a pm and mail
i was just want to put a note to not to disable pms and mails cuz at least one enabled for make the hack works (if pm and mail disapled the hack will do nothing)
