Auto-send Thank-You PM or Email to Paid Subscribers

This request was made originally in the 3.0 forum, so I'll repost it here :) Would really appreciate a way to send an auto-PM to new subscribers thanking them for their donation, and instructions on how to use new perks etc.

TIA!

Well, I'm going to give this one more try before I give up :)

I would think this would be a popular hack... IMO, it is totally unacceptable to not send the customer any kind of feedback after they give you money.

I get tons of "Am I upgraded?" emails... No communication is sent to the user to let them know they've been upgraded and have access to added perks. Especially "older" users, who expect that some manual process must be done to upgrade their account. I grant many perks when users buy a subscription - but no visible changes occur, hence the confused users.

Also, I get emails and phone calls from users who pay with an "e-check" via paypal. Paypal takes a few days to clear the 'e-check', and their account is not upgraded until it clears. So I get confused users wondering why they don't yet have their added perks/access.

An automated 'thank you' and info email would solve this issue beautifully... I will do anything (almost anything ;) ) for this functionality!

I could really use this as well!

I agree, this seems like common sense, and I too am surprised the functionality is not yet there! Andreas made the Auto PM new users hack, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard for someone who knew what they were doing (unlike me) to modify that to simply execute when the usergroup is updated to a new primary/secondary usergroup of subscribers.

Another Wish-List feature of mine is to require payment at registration! I simply am appalled that this hasn't been included yet for sites that are paid members only. I mean do we really expect people to register, verify email address and then visit the site scouring long enough to find the payments.php and purchase a subscription from an obscure link in the User CP?

Now you can make the link more obvious, put it in the welcome email/headers hack and such but I think that there should be an option to include that process in registration. Enter username, email and password along with options, choose paid subscription you want, enter credit card information or paypal information, process sale, then register the user with the system if this all works properly. One fluid multi-step system. :)

Here's a quick hack by ChurchMedia that emails them a thank you note. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....89&postcount=4

Before I found it I actually paid someone to code a hack that would PM the user, but it didn't work exactly as I wanted. So I use ChurchMedia's hack and it works great.

It is a shame it is not a supported hack with options in the admincp.

I really need this before OCT this year, as I will be going away for a month, and I wont be able to email people who buy certain subscriptions on my site with information on how to do certain things.
