Should i shouldnt i make this mod..

Hi, i was thinking of making a modification where you can create vbulletin pages directly from the acp, ie you can just click "add new page" or somthing and it will create a brand new page and within the acp you can ad content to it etc, do you think i should make that mod?

i Would also make it for 2.x and 3.0.x and 3.5.x

Daniel 03-14-2006 10:30 PM

That's a great idea, I'd definitely install it if you did make it (for 3.5.x)!

JakeS 03-14-2006 10:32 PM

3.5 would be first it'd be combatible with because thats what my test forum and my main are.

Doesn't WebTemplates Hack do this?

Reef 03-14-2006 10:39 PM

Yeah, I use WebTemplates for that

JakeS 03-14-2006 10:40 PM

Ok if its already been made i wont bother :)

anylink to the hack as i need it for my forum..

Corriewf 03-14-2006 10:47 PM

Also vbadvanced......

RichieBoy67 03-14-2006 11:26 PM

Sounds great to me...... something simple that would incorporate header and footer etc would be great but Logicians templates do that already and I use that too.

You would have to go a few steps further and make it even easier to use I guess.

What exactly are you planning? Like a portal or similiar??

I am interested...... I would love a simpler way to add vb pages....

JakeS 03-14-2006 11:46 PM

Short description ( i aint even started it yet ;) ) - You just import a product, and you would have a new menu on your vbulletin so you can create a page with what ever you want, you could add side menus bottem menus, top ones etc i might make it so its like you can "design" a brand new page :) colours fonts everything and a preview button so u can see what ur doing. pretty simple.

i made one almost exactly like that for ipb 1.0 once, for my self keeped on makin it till 2.1.5.. only dif was the product part..

This can be done with using the vBadvanced CMPS and/or vbPortal. I believe there are other portals in use that might do this too... so you might want to check into how they work as you develop this further.

JakeS 03-15-2006 03:14 AM

Yeah but this isn't going to be a portal ;)once i got a final idea for 0.1 alpha this going to be big(big script).. because i'm going to ad more to my ipb one.. still got its files :)

Basicly i'm doing an import then adding alot to it.

FLMom 03-15-2006 03:25 AM

I would definitely install :) I can't figure out cmps or webtemplates.. I need something very very easy :D

CMPS is more than just a portal. ;) Creating new custom pages is a quick & painless process.

How do you make the pages? I have been trying for days, but being a noob I am clueless lol

Is there a detailed step by step manual you could point me too? Thanks!

JakeS 03-15-2006 03:48 AM

That would be anouther advantage quick an easy :P and with this one i'm going to try to have an option to either have "index.php?act=w/e here" and a file name choice and just for specialness let you have it as a html file too.

At the end of the day when i'm finished deciding what its going to be its not going to be a small mod..

EDIT:

Anouther idea, the ability to manage the navbar links within the mod so you can add them after you'v made the pages.

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending upon your perpsective ;), Brian/Tigga keeps adding new features faster than he has time to update the manual.

Rather than hijack this thread, if you get a hold of me over on vBadvanced.com or send me a PM here with what exactly you're trying to do I'll point you in the right direction. :)

Jaynesh 03-15-2006 12:28 PM

Yes make it :)

Very usefull for someone looking for something simple. You could add all sorts of features with this, if you do decide to make it i suggest you add an option where you can ban certain users from a certain page :)

JakeS 03-16-2006 04:56 AM

I'll start making soon then (probly on monday)

Once i get it to 1.0 alpha i'll release it for testing.
