[done] Which do you prefer? Thread Starter in own column or under thread name?

Which way do you prefer on forumdisplay??

Paul M 03-09-2006 11:46 PM

Not bothered, but I hate the last post dates at the end in the search results, the forum should be the last column. :)

Nutz 03-09-2006 11:46 PM

'In it's own column' for me, looks smarter :)

But lets no forget that things will be changed around with the hack DB.

Thanks,
Mat

evenmonkeys 03-09-2006 11:55 PM

Wow. This new way is a complete turn off. I hate it.

Princeton 03-09-2006 11:55 PM

it's an extra column (more code) that is not needed ... on the upside, there's a lot of white-space which makes things easier on the eye

the Sandman 03-09-2006 11:58 PM

Why not make it user selectable via a custom profile field? https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/

Xenon 03-09-2006 11:59 PM

hmm, personally i don't like it myself as it leads to multipleline forumnames...

Princeton 03-10-2006 12:08 AM

While we are at it ... I prefer the thread/post count on the right of LAST POST.

:)

Zachery 03-10-2006 01:33 AM

Get rid of the thread starter column :( it doesn't need its own!

Trigunflame 03-10-2006 01:37 AM

Ya go ahead and put it back under thread title ;)

BamaStangGuy 03-10-2006 01:39 AM

<a href="https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=109952" target="_blank">https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=109952</a> .....

I agree though

Zachery 03-10-2006 01:39 AM

Merged.

Brad 03-10-2006 01:41 AM

We'll see how things go over the next few days. Obviously I prefer it begin a fan of the vB2 style threadbits.

Ohiosweetheart 03-10-2006 01:46 AM

i vote under the thread title

Floris 03-10-2006 01:56 AM

It's fine the way it is, so voted the first option :)

Talisman 03-10-2006 02:19 AM

It's much nicer just tucked under the thread title. When I scroll through the listing, I decide which threads to read through based on the subject or content.. not who started the topic. That column being off by itself now just gets in the way.

Good question. ;)

Logikos 03-10-2006 02:37 AM

The thread starter coloum on the right in Dark Blue, was that moved there intentionally?

Yes.

Logikos 03-10-2006 02:47 AM

Oppsie.. Didn't see this thread. :tired: I say place it back under the thread title. I hate it this new way. ;)

evenmonkeys 03-10-2006 02:54 AM

The least you can do is allow the user to change it. ._. This new look sucks majorly.

Brad 03-10-2006 02:57 AM

More trouble then it's worth to me. Like I said I'll wait a few days to see what people think and decide if I'll change it back or not.

Lea Verou 03-10-2006 03:32 AM

I prefer it this way. It's easier when you search for a particular thread manually and you remember who posted it :)

Logikos 03-10-2006 03:34 AM

Maybe make it as a user option is the best solution. ;)

Lea Verou 03-10-2006 03:36 AM

I think it's too trivial to become a user option

PS: Livewire why did you change your avatar? :( The previous one was much nicer :(

Adrian Schneider 03-10-2006 03:36 AM

I absolutely HATE it in its own column. It seems more natural to have it under the thread title.

Lea Verou 03-10-2006 03:37 AM

What I dislike about this new way is that ir reminds me of stupid phpBB. It's like admitting that it has something better than vb

Paul M 03-10-2006 04:07 AM

It doesn't bother me either way, but it does seem a bit pointless and a waste of space.

nitro 03-10-2006 06:01 AM

I shall see if I can get used to the new way, have to say imo atm it was better below the title, helps identify hacks easier with it their, but then Im a lazy ass and dont wanna look all that way to the right on my 25 ft projector :p

Oblivion Knight 03-10-2006 06:20 AM

I personally prefer it under the thread title.. :)

Paul M 03-10-2006 08:38 AM

I'm starting to dislike it - I find I keep looking at it and mistaking it for the last poster.

Trigunflame 03-10-2006 10:15 AM

lol, im like a few others.. dont care either way.. but honestly it does 'look' better under the thread title..

I like how the profile that list your hacks is cleaned up, single rows are a welcome change ;)

sabret00the 03-10-2006 12:45 PM

how it got it's own column considering the poll results is beyond me :\

RS_Jelle 03-10-2006 12:51 PM

I prefer the old way: under the thread name :)

Read...Think...Post

Maybe it is because the poll was started after the change was made to see how people like it.

Also check other posts in this thread where Staff say that we will run this for a couple of days at least before making a decission.

PS You really should work with it a few days before voting. All changes always look strange at first, but you might start to like it after a while.

Xenon 03-10-2006 02:07 PM

personally i don't like it because it uses to much space

the look itself isn't bad, but the space could and would be used better...
well, let's wait a bit

Marky 03-10-2006 02:19 PM

I liked it better under thread title :)

Trigunflame 03-10-2006 02:22 PM

*ding ding ding*

and the consensus says: "Under thread title" 3 to 1. XD

but ya prob should wait a few more days

BrandiDup 03-10-2006 03:22 PM

I totally prefer it in it's own column.

BamaStangGuy 03-10-2006 06:28 PM

Yea still haven't gotten used to it :p

evenmonkeys 03-11-2006 07:46 AM

I go to bed crying every night because this is bothering me so much.
