This is a very thoughtful hack. Not all of us are blessed to see well, and when you make things that help those less fortunate you really give a gift back to humanity.

Thank you,

Vic

well javascript is the reason which makes your browser not responding!
i dun see any loops in the script which would be causing such problem!
works fine on my IE 6 , IE 7 beta 2, FF 1.5

Same issue here.
FYI:
Winders XP Pro all updates SP2 and latest java
P4 3.00Ghz and 2.99 GHz with 1.0 GB of RAM IE 6.0.29

Error attached.
IE finally did load completely with enlarged text.
FF is a bit more responsive and no errors.
Opera 8.52 did respond fastest but only increased size in portions of text, etc. Not everything was increased.

Final result, nice addition in deed and gives the ability to increase size of site by this mod rather than all sites using IE built in feature of View/Text Size. However, may be buggy with some browsers.

emin3m 03-07-2006 08:45 PM

should i disable it for IE6
what do you ppl say?

C_P 03-07-2006 08:49 PM

Well, since IE is still one of the most popular browsers out there (unfortunately or not) I would say either correct the IE issues or remove the compatibility with IE verbiage.
Others may have different results however so don't be so quick on my part.

Reef 03-08-2006 05:39 PM

This is a great concept but it seemed to slow page loads badly on my forum

cd1986 03-08-2006 10:27 PM

When loading in FF, i had a couple of users report that they would see the page zoomed out 1 notch from default. I also noticed the same behaviour with my admin account. I've had to disable it for now, but i think the idea is great!

cloyal 03-08-2006 11:18 PM

My users are noticing that the Zoom goes in and out by the use of commas and periods, while they type. Where is the setting of this? Or is there one?

adamgessel 03-09-2006 03:00 AM

That is an extremely good idea.

POST# 100 for me! Woohoo!

Any one got answer for this? I realize that the two keys mentioned with the shift will cause the same thing, but I have had several poster experience this problem. If anything how do I go about deactivating the key strokes for this completely?

emin3m 03-10-2006 05:08 AM

edit the plugin,, there will be keycodes mentioned make them zero..

cloyal 03-10-2006 08:42 PM

Not exactly sure which code to edit. Since I have some extremely impatient posters, It's a bit hard to learn this from editing the code. :cross-eyed:

I tried at one point removing the following code and it works in FF but IE has the screen zooming in and out.

Quote:

// Keys for "hard" zooming in (with and without CAPS lock). Default: ">"
var keyinIe = 46;
var keyinIeCAPS = 62;

// Keys for "hard" zooming out (with and without CAPS lock). Default: "<"
var keyoutIe = 44;
var keyoutIeCAPS = 60;
Thanks and I do appreciate the time spent helping, I understand how this can be frustrating.

emin3m 03-11-2006 12:59 PM

where ever the key code like this is asked in code
make it 0
e.g.
PHP Code:

// Keys for "hard" zooming in (with and without CAPS lock). Default: ">"
var keyinIe 0;
var
keyinIeCAPS 0;

// Keys for "hard" zooming out (with and without CAPS lock). Default: "<"
var keyoutIe 0;
var
keyoutIeCAPS 0

Strat 03-15-2006 03:31 AM

My users see the forum zoomed in or out one notch more than default automatically. The problem seems to be affecting IE users more than any other browser, but it nevertheless still happened to me and I use the latest version of FF.

If there's an eventual fix that gets released, I'll re-activate the plug-in, but for now I need to disable it as my members are quite the PC-illiterate crowd and it was creating nothing but confusion.

Good idea, though! Just needs to be tweaked before I can re-activate it. Good luck!

cloyal 03-17-2006 01:48 PM

I was still getting the "random" zoom in and out that Strat was talking about as well. I ended up setting the Hard and soft zoom to 0 in the plug in as well. It seems to cure the problem, but the cookies reset does not work and there is now no longer a key board zoom availbility. The key board zoom is not a problem, since it doesn't allow for accidental zoom, but, but reset is now and issue. I currently have it disables because it seems to slow the site down.

Strat 03-18-2006 07:21 PM

Good idea, but in the end, the execution is flawed. Maybe version 1.1 will fix the problems with the auto-zoom, the reset script, and minimize the potential slowdown, but for now, I uninstalled it.

Very creative, however.

I got a similar situation although I love this zoom hack, when users browse the board and go to different sections, it shows with IE small letters, gotta re-adjust zoom all the time - will re-activate the plugin whenever there's a solution to this problem ty for making it.

clearchannel 04-18-2006 10:39 PM

I'm sorry, I can not find the instructions for installing this hack.

clearchannel 04-18-2006 11:01 PM

I figured it out.....LOL

Upload the zoom directory to your forum home directory, and install the plugin.

It appears to work fine for me in both msie and firefox with no problem.

Morgalis 04-22-2006 06:48 AM

Every time that you use a . it zooms in. Too much of zooming in and out and it collapses the forum tree in the advanced search.

Uninstalling for now, but I'll keep watching
