Oh, I'm so happy!!!!! :D :D :D :D

shellspeare 03-07-2006 02:13 PM

Congratulations :)

Lea Verou 03-07-2006 02:16 PM

Thanks!!! :D

tnguy3n 03-07-2006 02:23 PM

congrats. you deserve that title.

Lea Verou 03-07-2006 02:26 PM

Thanks a lot tnguy3n!! If you hadn't gave me your permission to release my modified version of your hack I wouldn't have become an Advanced Coder! Thank you!! :D

tnguy3n 03-07-2006 02:42 PM

I love the "Top 10 hated members" feature of your Karma hack. :D
What language is it on your site? Looks pretty strange.

Marco van Herwaarden 03-07-2006 04:01 PM

Congratulations Lea.

Lea Verou 03-07-2006 05:22 PM

tnguy3n, the language in my site is greek :) Vietnamese look as strange to me as greek look to you :D

Thanks Marco!

hiiped 03-07-2006 05:50 PM

Congrats

< sends Michelle some e-pizza from the e-store >

ericgtr 03-07-2006 06:54 PM

Congratulations, well deserved :)

Aesma Deva 03-07-2006 07:11 PM

Congrats, first of the 2 Greek members on this site, me being the second one :P
How does your ranking thingy change anyway?

AdminNation 03-07-2006 07:49 PM

You deserve it. Personally, I'll be using a hack or two of yours. That said, with reference to your hacks, any plans to port you smf-styled personal text hack? That would be much appreciated.

MRGTB 03-07-2006 08:27 PM

Congratulations, what did you get it for

Injektilo 03-08-2006 01:11 AM

sigxaritiria... ante kai mia mera na se doume admin sto vb.org :P

Lea Verou 03-08-2006 02:40 AM

Aesma Deva, there are many more than 2 greek members in this site! In fact, even the coders are about 4 ;)
Caleb Posner, AFAIK that hack can be used in 3.5 as is, it does not need porting ;)

Aesma Deva 03-08-2006 12:03 PM

ZOMIGAWD, the web is full of Greeks. I feel better now.
Συγχαρητήρια ξανά, Λία, για να το πούμε και ελληνιστί. ΘΕΛΩ ΚΙ ΕΓΩ ΝΑ ΓΙΝΩ CODER.

Lea Verou 03-08-2006 12:06 PM

Nope, it's not full of greeks. Most greeks are "afraid" of technology as you probably know. But, since there are greek vbulletin forums, there are greeks here, it's inevitable.

smacklan 03-08-2006 12:15 PM

Congrats! Well deserved for a nice person :)

Lea Verou 03-08-2006 12:16 PM

Thank you smacklan! I'm glad you consider me a nice person :o :D

Revan 03-08-2006 04:29 PM

[high]* Revan gives Lea a membership pass to the Advanced Coders Guild
[/high]
Don't stare on it for too long, you still have to aspire to attain the Master Coders Guild pass, yknow ;) Yea I heard about the Greek and their technology fear, 384 kbps is like the fastest Inet you can get there without shelling out thousands, so its cool that you overcome your techofobia and got into coding :)
Congrats, hunneh :)

Lea Verou 03-08-2006 04:39 PM

Lol, exactly Revan. We are catching up at a very slow pace :( Today most people can afford a 512, but currently a 1Mbps is too expensive for the average person. Personally I have a 384 at home, and my bf has a 512 (I'm in my bf's house these days and I haven't noticed any difference). Most greeks are on pstn still and web designers (I consider myself more a web designer than a coder, and this is why I never release styles but only hacks. I may sell styles later though :)) have to restrain themselves so that we don't waste bandwidth. It sucks, really :(

Revan 03-08-2006 04:45 PM

*hugs Lea* There there. You could always like move to Norway, Im on 3MBit and that's just cos Im an unemployed student and abit cheap ;)
So go on, cmon up here :D

Lea Verou 03-08-2006 04:47 PM

OMG, 3 Mbits??? How much does that cost??

PS: At my university we have like 8Mbits or even more, but the PCs suck there.

Where I live your options are:

5mbits download / 256kbps upload - cable - $35 - $40 a month
10mbs download / 512kbps upload - cable - $55 - $65 a month
512kbps / 128kbps - dsl - $25 a month

Of course I'm stuck on a dial-up island connecting at 12kbps!

EvilHawk 03-08-2006 04:55 PM

Well done Lea ! ;)

$66. Might not sound cheap to you, but thats just because the NOK <=> USD exchange rate is bollocks atm. It's actually pretty cheap when your used to the Norwegian echonomy.

MRGTB 03-08-2006 05:07 PM

I see you've been quite busy with the new cat site Michelle. Looks nice, did you create all the images yourself?

Lea Verou 03-08-2006 05:29 PM

Where I live, a 384 is about 40-50 euros! However the prices are starting to go down, there was an offer at christmas for E100, six months ADSL 384 (I got that one :))

@Gary: A good friend of mine created the "funny" ones, such as the kitties in the menu and the logo. In MS paint!! (I changed them a little in illustrator though) Isn't she talented? :D I created the other ones myself (eg, forum status icons etc). :)

Sorry but I doubt you actually get those speeds. You would have to live in the central office to pull that off... At the end of the day, those little copper lines are still the same size no matter how much you pay. :(

Lea you have always been advanced in my book... ;)
Seriously.... This girl can talk some deep stuff.

* I mean "girl" in a nice hawt way dear * :)

Xenon 03-09-2006 04:20 PM

Actually i get those speeds really often.

most of the time the limit is the server but for example when i dl something from my university i nearly have full bandwith all the time

if you live in the big cities it's even possible to get 16mBits/s but those are just a few and not on a regular base yet

Us Yanks are not so lucky. Its funny, you would think as advanced of a "Duper Power" we are, we could get some better lines.

:(

Paul M 03-09-2006 05:53 PM

Well done Michelle. :)

As for connection - mine is 10 Mbps down, 512 Kbps up, ?35 / month.

Daniel 03-09-2006 11:10 PM

Congratulations Michelle! Well deserved (especially for your smiley maker, one of my favorites ;))
