Estore or Ushop?

I've looked at both and it seems like the developer for Estore is really good at fixing bugs and what not. I was leaning towards that one. But looking for others suggestions if you have used one or the other for version 3.5+

The Chief 02-14-2006 06:17 PM

I suggest you go for eStore, it's overall better, I think, because thats what I am using :P

DrewM 02-14-2006 06:38 PM

ushop but wait for 1.00

Reeve of shinra 02-14-2006 07:30 PM

estore has everything ushop has and more, so I am using estore. :)

Stone Cold 3:16 02-15-2006 02:03 AM

Im with uShop, estore seemed a little buggy for my forum.

djjeffa 02-15-2006 02:28 AM

should of added a poll to this thread

jojo77 02-15-2006 01:28 PM

yea but I wanted more reasons on why one is better than the other in people's opinions rather than just votes. more helpful for everyone.

really? seems like it's pretty stable now. does it work with vb3.5.1?

Daniel 02-17-2006 02:28 AM

I'd go with eStore. Great support...

VBUsers 02-17-2006 03:10 AM

estore for these reasons:

- better support
- he makes updates every 2 days and adds your requested hacks
- more features than ushop
- ushop has no support
- ushop has to many bugs right now

hope this helps

here here very well summed up, i have eStore and the support is unbelievable, you ask questions and dont get burned, just friendly help

Colejo 02-17-2006 07:14 AM

Great support from eStore.

QueenBee 02-19-2006 08:23 PM

i tried both and ushop had horrible support. and eshop has the gifts, :)

Ky Kiske 02-19-2006 09:16 PM

For my forums eStore was extremely buggy and for my liking updates way too often. I know the developers of uShop (well Revan) and I think it's got a great base. Support issues are just that. But they did a great job with it that's why I support them.

cuphongle 02-20-2006 01:04 AM

ushop is good but the support is terrible, i been tryin to get my question answer fo like 3 days now

Ohiosweetheart 02-20-2006 01:54 AM

eBux/eStore, without a doubt the better of the two

MorrisMcD 02-20-2006 02:10 AM

I picked estore mainly because ushop was sitting on their hack for the longest time... They waited and waited and waited

Finally estore came out and it was GREAT.. My thoughts are the ustore group rushed to get theirs out shortly after. The people always asking never mattered, but when they realized another hack was going to steal their thunder, they hit the gas.

Well.. the author of estore addresses every single post and has released updates about every other day not only fixing bugs, but also adding requests, functionality, expansion, etc

Well my major problem with that statement was I broke down my situation to CMX about eStore and it was completely ignored. I posed a question on uShop and gio~logist addressed it. I think this is more of a race for glory then hack quality. In eStore you hear alot about CMX's site and that eStore is running there. Well that's all good and dandy to show crediblity that you code for your site. But what does that have to do with the quality of your hack? Truly my thoughts on this is I am willing to give any software support for uShop. I personally rebuilt it on my server using the mysql schema and reading the code of the php files. Now it runs on my server with no errors at all.

eStore is a pretty toy. But when RPG Hack v4 comes out I bet it won't support eStore. That is one of the greatest hacks on vB.org and the creator of it is the lead developer of uShop, Revan. So if it comes down to crediblity I think the hands are pretty even.

But if you happen to find some, feel free to post here and I will try to respond as soon as possible.

I hope I didnt step on any toes by releasing this as I've heard that uShop was being redone by some users as well, but I couldnt wait any longer for these features for my website.

so you repacked ushop? a working version? cause there are alot of people who might need that. there are so many people that cant even get passed the 9/10 step of the installation.

since revan is on vacation right now and CMX answers everyones posts that needs help, your post might have gotten skipped. i see alot less bugs and errors on ebux than i had even installing ushop. so if your sticking with ushop cause of another hack revan made then that benefits you and not the majority. i dont think ive seen any Q on ushop or estore thread asking if the hack you said was compatible with it, so not everyone uses it.

but wait , so your saying you did a better job than revan packing and redoing his hack? and your sure your version of ushop works for the masses? have you tested with others? im curious cause alot of people are having issues that you could help out.

Ky Kiske 02-20-2006 07:43 PM

I am personally repairing some of the issues on uShop on my site. I have repacked it based on the solution that worked best after having to completely repair his forum because of eStore corrupting his database after upgrade problems that were not addressed by the coder.

My repack is essentially a giant fix for people who don't have uCash 1.1.1 and need it to get around the install problem. So I am providing the needed things it asks for so it can run. ^_~

I may not be on the uShop staff but I am a fan that stands by his choice in product because he believes in the brand. You are with eStore for the same reason. Rest assure this battle of "VHS vs BetaMax" will show us the victor. Either or I will stick with uShop because I have been loyal to it since vB2.

So I am more of a person that will support people who are more willing to fix the current issue instead of making more issues and only cleaning up the ones that feels is high priority to them.

Also I am personally looking into the last two steps of the installation which I can understand the giant error. It posts ushop_act in the datastore with a blank variable so that is broken. It also skips certain tables and variable insertions and table alterations. Which I mentioned in a post in the uShop thread. All that needs to be done is to redo the code on steps 3, 4, 7, and 9. If I had permission from the staff I would gladly help them with the recoding and version compatiablity tests of each PHP and MySQL version. Since my thought is alot of people are running the PHP 4.3 & 4.4 Series. This might be generically coded with PHP 5 in mind.

I love estore!!! The built in gift feature is awesome and I love the updates and support :)

Ky Kiske 02-23-2006 05:30 PM

I am bidding my way on the uShop team. I am like the biggest supporter of it. Seems having to fix your own errors you learn alot.
