.org moderator

Did one resign recently or was there a swift kick to a fanny-bottom? :dead:

filburt1 01-20-2006 04:36 AM

Explain.

Regs 01-20-2006 05:02 AM

Explain what?

There is one less moderator listed for this site since last week and the question is 'what happened'? It's not a .org policy as far as I'm aware to remove mods here.

Corriewf 01-20-2006 05:27 AM

I heard it was nexialys......

Paul M 01-20-2006 05:37 AM

Chris M is not listed.

filburt1 01-20-2006 05:41 AM

He left kind of voluntarily. I can't divulge more unless an administrator says it's okay. He wasn't really fired per say, but his position suddenly resulted in a conflict of interests.

Paul M 01-20-2006 05:43 AM

How strange, he really seemed to be getting into the role.

Is a replacement expected then ?

Edit: oooooh, filbert has edit his reply, let the speculation begin ;)

lol

Marco van Herwaarden 01-20-2006 10:40 AM

Chris did resign because of a conflict of interest. That is all that is to it.

If/when/who might be replacing him is not discussed yet.

smacklan 01-20-2006 11:16 AM

Well I don't have a crystal ball but my bet would be because of this little project:

http://www.cx-board.com/

btw, my vote goes for nexialys

oops...my bad...a mod can edit these posts as far as I'm concerned.

Princeton 01-20-2006 12:04 PM

let's get things rolling ...

nexialys ... chatter box ... you have a comment for everything :D
That's a good quality in a moderator :)

Paul M - outspoken ... sometimes it hurts ... but I believe honesty is better than a pat in the head :)

lol

Princeton 01-20-2006 12:40 PM

lol, your derri?re would have been RED many months back :laugh:

Marco van Herwaarden 01-20-2006 01:07 PM

Just to clear something up, we are not searching for a new Moderator atm. There is no use to start PM'ing staff members applying for the job.

If we will be looking for a new Moderator, we wil either approach possible candidates, or out up an announcement asking people to apply.

i will try to be blind at that moment...

and will add a lapse of reason!

Dean C 01-20-2006 03:05 PM

You guys are missing the point. I think you have a right to know why Chris was removed of his position. I won't elaborate.

I think that question has already been answered in this thread.

That seems pretty obvious if you follow the link on the first page, he is basically a competitor to Jelsoft.

i don't care a ***k about why he quit... i hope he is happy with his life, that's all.. i wish him luck!

why bother on why and how a member of the group is joining or quitting... this is just for lucious curiosity, for people that have no life to live...

the clients here are asking for answers to their questions; whoever may answer, they don't care... they just want the answers...

edit: can the moderator close this thread before that comes to flamings ?

Marco van Herwaarden 01-20-2006 03:45 PM

Although i don't see what more can be said about this subject, i will leave the thread open for now. Let's see if we can have a civilized thread for once.

EricaJoy 01-20-2006 03:58 PM

[high]* EricaJoy checks to see if I have any Chris M. hacks that I could possibly lose support for.
[/high]

none? ok...

Good luck to Chris M. in his future endeavors. Nothing wrong with a little competition. :)

filburt1 01-20-2006 05:05 PM

The plot thickens.

amykhar 01-20-2006 05:26 PM

Amy's rule of forum administration - never ever hire somebody as a moderator who asks for the job.

Zachariah 01-20-2006 05:49 PM

Good luck Chris M in what ever you do.
- see ya on the flipside.

What a bizarre rule you work by - you don't 'hire' people who actually want to do the job ??

It's no secret I applied when Chris was appointed, and yes, I would again. :)

Dean C 01-20-2006 06:50 PM

Chris has been an active participant on these forums since the days I started posting. I remember the good old days of him spamming the vB.org mail discussion forums :) He's one of the few people that made up the "community" here. It's sad to see him go just because he is starting up a project of his own. I have no doubts whatsoever that he would not use his position here to gain a competitive advantage.

I like chris a lot but he HAD to know that something would happen with those actions. I wont belittle him with stupidity to assume otherwise.

Dan 01-20-2006 07:05 PM

Let's just make it be known he did not resign as far as I am concerned.

So who fired him again?

Azhrialilu 01-20-2006 07:13 PM

No more hellsanta signatures..*sighs mournfully*

No offence to the rest of the mods here - you do a wonderful job - but I always found Chris to be one of the most approachable and helpful. It's a shame he's gone. :(

Corriewf 01-20-2006 07:16 PM

[high]* Corriewf smits hellsatan with one last smitter of goodluck
[/high]

He will be missed....:(

I will not say the full extent of reasons but vBulletin.org did what they believe was right, weather others think its right or wrong its up to them not us. This thread is bound to be locked soon purely because its talking about a new bulletin board which may not even get created.

Why was the project stopped and if so,now there shouldnt be a conflict right? Or too much bad blood?

Brad 01-20-2006 07:56 PM

Chris decided to start his own forum software company (http://www.cx-board.com/), the administration felt there was a conflict of interest having him on staff here while he was developing a competing forum solution. This is why he was stepped down by the administration.

If you actually read the site the development is stopped, and has been for awhile now.

I am aware of the status of that project and there is an on-going discussion between the administrators and Jelsoft regarding Chris's status.
