None, and please read the rules, posting referal urls are agasint them.

Xplorer4x4 01-02-2006 02:37 AM

Yeah maybe if you were kind enough to explain a referal URL rather then threaten to delete my posts.

vBTotal 01-02-2006 02:48 AM

If you need someone to explain a referal url then you have more problems then your thread being deleted......

Goodluck.

AN-net 01-02-2006 03:46 AM

sounds too good to be true, there has to be a catch, 510GB of bandwidth a month?

Zachery 01-02-2006 04:32 AM

Your link had an addtional part in the url.

yourlink.net/?a=something

Which is an affilate url. :) Which means if someone signed up they'd get a commission.

Indeed - Looks dubious but may be reliable - I'll see what I can dig up :p

Chris

msimplay 01-02-2006 10:33 AM

yeah that looks too good to be true, its like dedicated server bandwidth at shared hosting price

tipoboy 01-02-2006 10:59 PM

i use that hosting for my forum, never had a problem yet. the sales staff are fast and efficient and help with any problems you have.

Xplorer4x4 01-02-2006 11:02 PM

@VBCore that was nice compared to my reaction on vb.com.:o I was just tried, hald drunk and the threat of a post being deleted over an acident still some what angers me today. A simple warning would of been apropriate.

@Corrie WF What I meant to say was how was it an afiliate URL?

A mod found the link, gave the link to me and she was not a customer nor was I so there was nothing gained for me or anyone I know out of it.

I dug up some reviews on google and it was generally good. It lakcs advanced web stats, and a few other featuers I wouldn;t mind. No cpanel which sucks, so of course there are some sacrafices to be made but we went anyways.

Generally what kind of response times do you get?

bad reason... i receive hundreds of links each day, that doesn't mean i will post a new thread of them just because it may be useful... this url was really from someone wanting some new clients... if you're not that guy, why post?!... this is spam to me, even if you don't think it is...

this is the exact same stuff than when you receive a chain of letters in your email... "if you don't send this email to 7 people it will break the chain and you will have a headache"... this is spam, flooding, not just spam... think of the result, if 1000 persons send that chain to 7 people the same day, and next day these 7000 people do the same again... the internet is flooded too much already.

(oh btw this is just a copy/paste of my prefered stuff... i'm not spending my time writing it.. lol)

Why post it? because of a desperate need for hosting. Click the link in my sig for DOMS. Do so and an explanation is obvious, or so I would hope.

Spam? Your the one taking this completley out of context and beating a dead horse.

I can;t argue with you that chain letters are anoying which is why I tell people NOT to send them, but I hardly see the relvance. I don't care that the link was edited. Change the link to servage.net and drop the www. part for all i give a..I just wanted soem reviews on the hosting company and instead we get side tracked by this senles bable.

Why post it? Because I wanted reviews on the hosting before I or somone else(as one of the mods ended up buying it)

Making a threat to delete posts was totaly uncaled for IMO. Must we really beat a dead hoarse, I just want reviews. If you don;t have a review then please don;t spam up the thread. K thanks.

COBRAws 01-03-2006 01:09 AM

Sorry for OT but this seems to be the tipic thread where some guy comes and puts a referral URL and then get discounts. In this case, he has tried it and needs referrals.

good one ;)

AWESOME! May I idolize you? AWESOME! :tired: Oh and btw, it is their and not there and your first post was edited so it is kind of hard for anyone to argue what you posted.....

Lea Verou 01-03-2006 04:56 AM

Apart from the many database errors I get ("server shutdown in progress" or "lost connection with mysql during query") and the occasional slowness it's quite good.
The nice thing with them is that when they update the package, they do it for old customers too. When I bought hosting from them I got 7,5GB space and 330GB monthly transfer and now I have 25,5GB and 510GB allowed monthly transfer :)

Xplorer4x4 01-03-2006 05:10 AM

^Yeah try working in that eviroment...Between 11GB of space and 80GB of bandwidth being used currentley, we need something bigger and better. So your a current servege member right? And everything is good? And thanks for a little courtesey, nice to see somone who gives this a comunity feeling...

It really doesnt matter as the edited link still goes to the site you are referring to and your thread remains so who cares right? ;)

For the record, I dont trust anything that is that cheap.

Chris M 01-03-2006 06:32 AM

For the record, talk about the hosting company and reviews you have, and leave any comments about referral links or any side-tracking for now...

Too many threads do this, so don't make this another that will need to be closed...

Chris

Code Monkey 01-03-2006 02:55 PM

Too me, these incredible bandwidth offers are just bait. To use that much bandwidth, you would either have to use far beyond your allowable system resource usage (which gets you kicked), or, they will measure bandwidth differently.

I have had High allowances and low allowances. I always found the same site on a high allowance host used far more bandwidth than it did on the one that had a lower allowance. It's all in how and where they measure it.

You get what you pay for. Through many pains I have come to just pay a little higher price and sleep easier.

everytime i had a problem i recieved an e-mail within the hour (monday to friday). it differs at the weekends and evenings though. but generally i would say there good hosting neva had a problem i couldn't fix mysql database set up in a few clicks. good value for money i would say, but its only my opinion

Xplorer4x4 01-03-2006 04:40 PM

Well how would you say things have worked out in terms of space and bandwidth measurement?

I asked that but it got ME nowehere. :p

nexialys 01-03-2006 05:41 PM

your bestshot Xplorer4x4 would be to read all the other threads related to site hosting, so you'd see that most of the real hosters were already reviewed and commented to hell...

my best host is hostgator... they have the best example to tell you if vBulletin work on their server, because they have a vBulletin 3.5.x as their support forum... real !

Maybe if I was interested in one of them, but I was interested in servage. ;)

Well that was way out of our price range, and so far I have heard almost nothing but very good reviews baout servage. Thanks for the recomend though.

I must say the support has been pathetic, BUT I have been told this is because they just moved there datacenter.

gemmk1 08-09-2009 02:01 PM

Servage are a total waste of time,I was with them for 4 years and i had loads of downtime from them,When you sumit a support ticket they are very rude and non helpful,If you complain they just say well go elsewhere then and thts it.If you dont mind downtime, slowness of site, rudeness and you just being a number to them then yeah go with them

Marco van Herwaarden 08-09-2009 02:15 PM

This is a 3 year old thread. Hosting discussions are now done on vB.com and no longer allowed on vB.org, so closing thread.
