my etalk - Feedback...

I have just launched my totally new customized skin and website to accompany the forums, using vB Drupal and I would like your feedback on it.

http://www.myetalk.com

Thank you!

How about a link?

Tony G 12-24-2005 04:14 AM

Yeah, please put a hyperlink in your first post so its easy for members to access it and comment and that.

Great job:up: I like what you did.

- you may want to change the colors on the links found on the header (needs more contrast)
- 2 search functions on front page ... is there a difference?

So sorry, I added the link now...

The colors will be looked at :D and the two search forms are the same thing, it was to get the idea around to the members that they could search or at least try once to give them what they were looking for.

Myetalk.com

Sorry again for not putting up the link...:(

vBTotal 12-30-2005 07:23 PM

Ya you should change the color of the links in the header so that they stand out more. Make them a white color.

I like it. I'm not a fan of red, and I like it. :)

The overall concept seems to have potential, even though there is a lot of competition for you.

TruthElixirX 12-30-2005 10:24 PM

Thanks for the positive feedback guys (I too am an admin there.). :)

The Chief 12-31-2005 12:35 AM

Yup, thanks all for the feedback, we will try to work something out for the header links ;)

Tony G 12-31-2005 01:01 AM

For me, the red is way too bright against the white. If you used a more dull red shade it'd look a lot better. The header image could be a bit more detailed too..

does it have a bit of positive in that or are you just a fussy person? :P

Oh my GOD it's red...I was literally squinting looking at the page. Tone it down.

Damian 12-31-2005 05:41 PM

I have never been a fan of red skins but you pulled this one off well. :)
The shade of red you picked is very nice and I love the simplistic design. Good job.

Corriewf 12-31-2005 06:14 PM

Yeah, change the color of the new post icon. Maybe make it the same grey as your no new post and just make it blink......

michaelbenson 12-31-2005 07:54 PM

I'd agree, instead of red go for something a little lighter and not so contrasting to the black background and white table cell background color.

The Chief 12-31-2005 09:39 PM

Thanks for the positive comments all!

The point of the design was to make it spiffy and attracting, and keeping it simple ;)

I'll try to work on the new post icons also :)

Thanks all! and happy new year's eve!!

Where did you get your blog software :) I am thinking of it right now.

The design is good but red killed my eyes :P I hate red in forum styles.

vBTotal 01-10-2006 12:51 AM

Ya the red is hurting hah

The Chief 01-10-2006 11:11 PM

haha, yeah, well we are also REALLY based on the main page which is vB Drupal, I have finished all the minor tweaks today, join and you will see how much stuff you can do, its amazing!!

The Chief 01-12-2006 07:14 PM

Just made a couple of updates to the whole forum.

Go have a look now!! :)

Corriewf 01-13-2006 02:59 AM

can i have a good reason or at least some feedback on why you hate it, or what do you hate?

The red does not look bad . I think it makes the site look more like a portal . I actually registered and I like the invites system and the thing in the CP that shows your friends . I also like the blog and the profile system . It is a very functional site . I would like to know what hacks you have . What are you using for the invites and the friends network? What are you using for the profile page ? How did you put the white table that has these links on the site . Did you edit a template ?

I am interested in whatever hacks you used so PM or post here whichever is more convenient.

Take a look at this site It uses Vbulletin .The guy brought in over $20 million in revenues last year

That's just a template edit, the rest is pretty simple to find...
