iPods Anyone?
 

Anyone here own iPods? I just got the new iPod Video 60GB, it's so sweet!

I've got a load of videos on that sucker now; Euro Trip, Family Guy, The Amazing Race and more!

I just ordered a case that just came out today, pretty nice.

I have had a black, 30 gig 5G iPod for a little over a month now. I essentially use it as a second hard drive, and put everything from music to Word documents on it. I just bought a black iSkin evo3 for it yesterday; it should ship soon.

I hate iPods, so much, really utterly bad value for money, go buy a Creative, Sony, iRiver or Rio, much better sound quality and value for money, as well as no iTunes.

I have a 4th generation 20gig iPod. Couldn't live without it. <3

My wife and I use a 30 GB Creative Zen that I got her 2 years ago for Yule. It still works great and we see no reason to buy a new device at this time.

Video sounds nice but the screens are so tiny, it isn't worth it to me.

My sentiments exactly. Audiobooks all day long! I'm listening to the Grapes of Wrath as we speak.

Getting a 30gb White Video iPod for Christmas :)

Should be awesome, I'm not getting it for the video though.

I don't the black version for 5G - IMO it looks too wide and ugly, whereas for the Nano it looks cool :D

I have a blue iPod mini [4GB], i was thinking about getting the Nano, but decided it's not worth it...

I wouldn't mind the Video one - able to watch video clips on the go, wouldn't complain. :D

I already spent my christmas money, so I'm getting as much freelance stuff done so I can get an IPOD. :(

I just bought a black iPod Nano this week and I love it. I considered getting an iPod Video, but I really don't have a use for that much storage.

I have a black Ipod Nano and my wife has a pink Ipod Mini. Both are 4GB. Sure it would be cool to have a 30GB or 60GB but I didn't think I would ever need that much space so I went with the smaller, sleeker looking Ipod.

I have a 30 GB iPod video, watched Battlestar Galactica in my office today.

I've got a 4th gen 60G iPod photo. I only chose the ipod because it integrates into my Pioneer head unit in my car and the others won't. I just plug it in and throw it in the console. It's like a 600 disc changer.

You say that now...trust me, you'll find a way to fill up your nano.

That plus the fact that they apparently break easily :ermm:

Ipods are good and all but they are way over priced for what they do. I may be old school but I dont quite understand why people need to listen to music at all times. I personally would never find a use for the ipod as my radios at home and car work just fine. Maybe if I had to use public transportation, but then I would prefer to pick up radio stations...

I don't know about the others but I live in a valley, more of a plateau actually but that is another story. Look at any map of California and you can see roughly where I live. To the north of Los Angeles is a large brown triangle shaped area. I live in the western point in the foothills of that triangle. We don't get very good radio reception. We don't get good television reception. Almost everyone has digital satellite television in the area. There is a cable company but they serve less than 50% of the region. There are four local radio stations, none are really good. Anything else, forget about it in most circumstances. We could get XM or we can get an MP3 player and take our music with us in the car. I can actually go to a place not to far from home where you can get 10 different radio stations on the same frequency due to the signals bouncing off the granite and quartz in the canyon.

I can't listen to audio books while working because it would be distracting plus they lack substance. Give me a hardcover and a hot cup of chai any day. Music in the background provides noise but isn't distracting while I work. However for that, I just stream off my PC.

Yeah, that sounds like a pretty good reason to me. I still think the price is really high for it.....

Not according to this review they don't - Unless you consider running them over with a VW and hurling them 40+ feet into the air breaking easily :p

Hrm? How do audio books lack substance? Meanwhile, they can be distracting but I turn them off when I'm actually working on something. While doing mundane things like washing dishes, cooking, etc? Audiobook all the way. I agree about a hot cup of tea and a hardcover. Thats heaven.

I was on about the screen - That is not as durable as the rest of the nano, and since I'd need the screen to tell which playlist I'm on or which song I'm playing, that for me is "breaking" if you cannot do that any more...

I prefer the feel of pages in my hands, a good quality book is better in my personal opinion than any audio or video rendition of the story. There is no physical substance to an audio book. Not what I want out of the experience. With an Audio Books or a Movie, it is someone else's imagination powering the story from descriptions to inflection of the voices. Books are personal experiences, no two people read the same book the same way. Your imagination fills in the holes and makes it whole. That is what I want.

The only time I listen to music is when I am working on the computer, as background filler noise, or in the car. Doesn't even matter what is playing as long as there is filler noise in the background. Then I don't use headphones even. Headphones are evil. Well there is a third time I listen to music and that is when I go to a concert. But then it is the focus.

Did watch a movie recently which had an innovative use of an iPod. It was "Blade: Trinity" and one of the main characters had one. She would customize a playlist for the upcoming battle as part of getting in the zone. I am not involved in many epic vampire hunts though.

Really Wayne? I always thought you'd look quite "hip" in one of those semi-biker semi-vampire hunter suits with a weird flipping out light bow thingy :D

Used to actually own some chaps back when I had horses and had to stack hay. Its disturbing though that someone would think I would look hot in them. If you mean sweaty and in need of lemonade, I agree though.

I've been shopping around for something comparable to an IPod. I really want something to watch podcasts and videos with mainly with some other hard drive duties as well..

What is the absolute best bang for the buck out there now that has great video quality and is reliable etc...???

I'm a bit embarrassed... 2GB iPod Nano.

Well, I still have that 30 GB iPod 5G (now called the iPod classic), although I gave it to my dad. In its place, I now have a 32 GB iPod touch and an 8 GB iPod nano (third generation).

I have an 8GB black nano and am using less than 4GB of it.

80GB or whatever you have would be a waste for me. :)
