Where can I find a good portal/index page for 3.5 ?

Ive been searchin these forums and also other to find a decent FREE front page portal for 3.5 and cant seem to find the answer anywhere?

before upgrading to 3.5.0 I used vbindex on 3.0 which was great. Can anyone recommend simular or provide a link to a decent portal front page for 3.5?

Thanks

In the free area, try vBadvanced CMPS (http://www.vbadvanced.com) and I *think* the vBIndex guys are doing something with 3.5 as well (search here at vB.org). In the commercial area try vBPortal (http://www.vbportal.com).

vbadvanced is $35... i'm not sure how much vbportal is.. they both lock you out of everything on their sites.. can't even order or read more info on vbadvanced on their site (at least in opera on linux.. maybe its a browser bug)

Since when? I know there's a fee if you want the branding free or for them to install for you, but for the stock branded product I didn't think there was a charge.

You're right, I was looking at the vbadvanced links directory for $35 :nervous:

I'm logged in over there, but can't get to more info on the free vbadvanced still.. I've had a user over there for about a week but says i need more permissions. I'm in firefox now.. I think I just need permissions set.

vBadvanced CMPS has been in the past, is free currently, and the last time I asked Brian/Tigga about it the plan is to continue to offer it for free in the future.

The direct link to the 'More Info' page for vBa CMPS is http://www.vbadvanced.com/products.p...roductinfo&p=4 and from there you can download a copy (you must be logged in first).

Just a minor heads-up: When you go to download it there are radio buttons asking you if you want the 3.0.x version or the 3.5.x version... if you're running vB 3.5.x make sure you select the correct radio button! A lot of people end up trying to install the 3.0.x on vB 3.5.x with less than happy results. ;)

I dont not really understand why is vbportal better then vbadvanced.
I dont have found features on vbportal that not included in vbadvanced.
What's the heck is the different between this products?

Thank you
thomas

vbadvanced is free, i just downloaded it - for branding free or install service payment is required, but basic is free :)

Better is a relative term to be honest, it's a case of they do different things whats better for me isn't always better for someone else.

In summery, vBadvanced doesn't have as many out the box features which vBportal has. You really just need to take a look at both and decided which features you really need and which better fits your requirement.

I've used both and in all honesty vBportal was excellent when I used it. Then it stopped upgrading quickly enough for me and I had found other hacks which gave what I needed with out many of the extras that I never used. Now I use vBadvanced and a host of other hacks however vBPortal would still be better for someone who would rather have a one stop shop for all there features.
