I have (had) a license to use vbulletin it was not the owned but the leased, my license expired, so did my account here at vbulletin.org, I'm planning to buy another license to be able to download hacks from this site, however, I have a question...

If I buy the leased license, I will only have it for one year, that means that I will be able to post/download here for one year...

but if I buy an owned license, does that mean that I will be able to post/download hacks here always? or does it last one year too????

Nope you don't, you'll always have access here.

Having access and being able to download hacks are 2 different things.

You will be able to access vB.org and download hacks and post just fine with a owned licence. But you won't be able to update vBulletin to the latest version once your member's area access has expired.

with the owned license I dont have to pay 30 dollars every year to get access here then....

I can personally confirm that you can download hacks when your owned licence - support option - has expired. Mine expired in mid November and there is little point in me renewing it until a new version is released. :)

That's why I said, "I think" in my post. I wasn't exactly sure what the 30/year entailed besides being able to download new versions. I guess we are never too old to learn after all, huh? ;)

Leased license:
After expiring, you will not have "licensed" access (ie, ask for support, download hacks) from here or vbulletin.com. Also you can not use vBulletin anymore for your website!

Owned license:
You get 1 year of support (download vB versions that are newly released, support). After the first year (unless you renew for $30) you will still have full access to the forums, and are allowed to run vBulletin.

So the owned license can still download hacks here without paying the 30 dollars a year?

Yes, they only don't have access to new released vB version that where released after their support expired (still can download versions that where released in their licensed period) and can not get priority support (i think).

Maybe we should chnage the system, to not allow downloading hacks released after the support license expired. :D

Ok, so basically if I go ahead and buy the owned license from vbulletin.com I will be able to post, download and completely view this website my whole life without any problems.... is that right?

That's not the promise :D You can view and download mods here as long as this site exists ;) That's not necessarily your whole life. Plus, you COULD be banned for bad behavior here. A vbulletin license does not automatically guarantee your right to access this site.

this site is definetly the one of the main reasons why I will be buying the owned license...
