vbSEO AdminCP Style Removed?
Quote:
If you remove that style, then you need to remove the ones that look like Windows XP and OS/X too, since I haven't seen a lite version of Microsoft Windows XP or Max OS/X released here either. |

This is getting a tad out of control, I agree with Conq |
You know how i find this thread ?
I just search for VBseo i was think maybe he release the lite version already. i notice that he created vBseo lite forum and then removed it .. also in his Signature vBseo Lite coming soon he removed it .. it seem to me he wil never release any lite verson About AdminCp Style not sure really why they removed it but i'm sure there is a good Reson :) |
actually, the admincp STYLE is not even linked to the vbSEO script itself, it's just a style... i think there is some overpassing of the rules here...
a little bit of paranoïa here? |
The Admin CP Style has been restored as it is not an Addon.
|
Thank you Wayne Luke :)
Thanks, Mat |
Thanks for restoring Wayne.
I might have been to fast on removing it after a complaint. In the thread itself it is advertised as an addon to VBSeo, that is why it was removed. If it is not an addon, then it is allowed. |
Was the phrase I do not intend to use this as promotional tool for vBSEO not clear enough?
Thanks, Mat |

No need for the attitude. I think they are being really nice for allowing your style to remain. It is after all promoting and or marketing a paid script for vbulletin. The above reference to XP or other computer operating systems in no way relates to a vbulletin product or script, hence no action taken. Maybe this style would of been better released in a community that would facilitate it. Btw to steal a quote from one of my favorite movies Jurassic Park, " some of the worse ideas have come from the best intentions". |
I?m sorry if you have seen attitude in my last post, but I am annoyed how some paid add-ons area allowed to stay and some are not. An example being vBa Links and PhotoPost vBGallery (formally vBa Gallery):
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=99011 https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=101061 https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=100667 Please don?t miss understand me, I think these hacks are great and I run one or two of them. I like vB.org because I see it as a one stop shop for every thing vB (hacks, styles and so on). I think it?s a shame when members start complaining because they see some hacks as adverts. Thanks, Mat |
That is simple, those are ports of existing hacks that were submitted previous to the rule being implemented. Those hacks were promised support by the authors in its 3.0.x version and due to the security flaws in 3.0.3/4/5/6/7/8/ect a ported version was allowed as support for those hacks was promised previous to the rule.
I have the winning lotto numbers.....too bad they are last weeks and not today's or I would be a millionaire. Timing is everything. Its not fair but nor would removing support from hacks that were promised so. |
Ah OK that makes more sense :)
When were the rules updated? Thanks, Mat |

I am trying to overclock my Radeon 9700 mobile he he. I cant remember a specific date, but know it was recent. Paid scripts have never really met open arms here honestly. I beleive with the recent trend of coders converting scripts over to paid version that were once free here, prompted the changes or revisions. I am sure its not for any dislike or lack of respect for the authors or their respective script(s), but the legal repercussions of endorsing or providing a medium for their distribution. |
er, im really confused now. FOC add-ons for commercial scripts can no longer be released here?
i.e. my Geek Gallery Popup for PhotoPost and vba,er I mean PhotoPost vbGallery? SigmaChat add on? Userplane stuff? Anything that is free but requires a commercial script (i.e. vB) is not allowed here? Even styles that look like web sites that sell commercial goods? Isnt this a bit like swatting a fly with a shotgun? |

I only can hope its an over sight and that the info is either wrong or the idea wasn't fully thought through.
I cant for the life of me figure out why someone would complain about an admincp style that was FOC. Nor can I figure out why FOC add ons for commercial scripts are now banned. Are we now going to go through the memberinfo hack to censor any information on how to get your gallery to show up? tsk tsk. Seems a real shame. |

There has been a rule here for along time:
Quote:
Now that said there are many, many hacks already released that do not fully comply with this rule. In fact I removed two hacks the other day due to this rule only to restore them later after having a look around the hack forums. As I told these two members it would not be fair to punish them while allowing others to release such hacks here. There are only two courses of action at this point: Changing the rule, or 'cleaning house' and removing all of these hacks at once. I lean towards the first option, because I think such hacks are a good resource and would rather see them here where more users can support them and create add-ons. This will go to staff discussion, I'll make sure to let everyone know the outcome. As for the vBSEO admin cp style, removing it was a mistake and we have corrected it. I hope you all can understand that we are not perfect and sometimes things like this happen. We always do our best to make sure things are right in the end, even if we stumble some along the way. |
can you clear something up for me Brad.loo :p is the whole changing the logo in the admincp thing against vBulletin rules or Jelsoft License agreement?
|

I don't really understand that either. If we can replace the vBulletin logo at the top of the forums page on our sites, why can't we change it in our AdminCP?
Or does that just mean we can't redistribute an AdminCP style that changes that logo? And if that's the case, how can people distribute styles that don't have the vBulletin logo at the top of the forums page? Like this one for example: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=99061 (Not picking on this guy, just one I picked out.) Isn't that re-branding vBulletin as X-Factor? |
I think the issue of the vBSEO logo was resolved

But when the admin is the only one that sees it... why is it an issue and how can it be enforced? Furthermore, we can replace the vb logo at the top of our forums with or without a brand free license. Nothing in that style (or changing the logo) would insinuate that the forums were powered by anything different than changing the logo on your site.
Just to reiterate my last point for your discussions: I think it would be a shame that free hacks could not be released here simply because they are for commercial scripts that integrate into vB. If I would have known that, I would not have spent the time writing the Gallery Popup for general release here (that includes the support that has gone with it). Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater here. You can ignore the majority, you can get paranoid with free releases, but the more you do, the less useful you make the 'ultimate resource site'. Please don't take this the wrong way - but you guys should be more encouraging and less big brotherish. |

"Buy Vbulletin and there are over 100 commercial software titles that integrate into your forums!" in the fine Print: "We just wont tell you where they are...." |
And in the bold print, this thread is now closed...
Once again you are all too quick to drag this from a simple mistake to "who can make the best quip about Jelsoft/vBulletin.org"... If anyone has issue with my closing this take it up with me in private... Chris |
