Nice idea :D
|
I was just about to start on one of these.... great job! Thanks.
|
I tried to sign up but they closed signups :(
|
@Dan Thanks. I hope you enjoy it!
@Ted I was surprised someone else had not done it already. If you see something else you think should be added, shoot it my way. @PixelFx Go ahead and signup. They'll put you on the waiting list. |
Does this work on 3.5 or strictly 3.5.1?
|
I don't have 3.5 to test on, but I believe it will work on either version. As long as the hooks are there in 3.5, there won't be a problem.
|
Looking good. :)
|
its working :) good work

http://www.example.com/funnel_register/signup.html I should change example.com to my domain, correct? Also, if my forums are not in the domain root, I should also add the subfolder, correct? |

For the second, you should not add the subfolder. It may work if you do, but Google's instructions say to show it this way so it looks like it is off the root of your domain. |
Just like that? or do we need our /forums/ directory in that path too?
Also, some of the plugins seem to be disabled by default, is that correct? |

I can't seem to get it to work. It installed fine, but I get the error message from Google: "Goal Creation failed. Please verify and try again. If you continue to have problems, please contact our support team." Here's a screen shot of what I see... maybe I missed something?
|
I don't see anything wrong in your screenshot. Double check the portion of your http://www.example.com/funnel_register/pagename.html on each line and make sure there are no typos hiding. I do not believe it actually checks to see if the pages exist when you make the goal.
|
Hmmm... no typos. Should the page http://www.photographycorner.com/fun...e_account.html actually go somewhere?
|
No, the page is made up specifically for registration.
|
Hmmm... any other ideas why it's not working then? :speechless:

Goal
(see above): (not editable) http://www.photographycorner.com/fun...e_account.html Registration Case sensitive: checked Match type: Head Match Goal value: blank/$1 |
Try changing your goal value to just the number 1. No word blank. No slash. No dollar sign.
The only other setting you have different from mine is the case sensitivity. I have it turned off. |
Grr... took case sensitivity off. Same error. Changed goal value to 1, still same error. I tried every combination with those last options, still same error.
|
Next step verify that Step 5 through Step 10 have nothing in them. After that, I recommend you blank and retype the URLs in case there is something you are just not seeing in there. The URL itself doesn't have to be valid, but there may be a check for http:// at the beginning.
This is what they should be: Goal URL: http://www.photographycorner.com/fun...e_account.html Step 1: http://www.photographycorner.com/fun...er/signup.html Step 2: http://www.photographycorner.com/fun...ster_form.html Step 3: http://www.photographycorner.com/fun...ber_added.html Step 4: http://www.photographycorner.com/fun...e_account.html |
I put the settings above into a domain for my account, using copy shortcut to get the full URL path. Google accepted it without a problem. If you want, grant my google account the ability to login and look at your account and I'll be happy to check it out. faewen at g mail dot c o m

Does anyone know when google analytics is going to allow signups? Seems they closed registration.

Is it working for you now? |

I've tried everything else that was suggested in the thread, too. |

I'm using 3.5.2 and its not generating unique urls. I suspect this might have something to do with me running vbseo which has url rewrite rules.
|
I haven't used VBSEO, but it shouldn't interfere. This plugin doesn't generate unique URLs that you will see in the address bar of your browser. To verify it is working, you need to look at the source code. Go through your registration process, and on each page, view the source. Look for the URL with funnel_register. If it is there, then it is working and Google Analytics will pick it up.

I just signed in today and saw your post. Did Google start picking up your data yet, or are you still having problems? |
