Bug or Misconfiguration

When trying to edit my profile I get "You have not completed all of the required fields: username, password, homepage and email address."

Andreas 11-20-2005 07:04 PM

Did you fill out all those fields?

Jenta 11-20-2005 11:22 PM

Yep, it says username. There is no username field. Phrase need editing.

The reason you are getting that message is because they want you to fill out the homepage field. If you're not comfortable with that, type in something fake.

This problem comes from not entering the homepage 9 times out of 10.

IIRC this was fixed in 3.5.

Most peoples entered homepage seems to be invalid anyway .....

Since it's particularly the homepage field I want to change I'm hardly likely to miss it out. Anyway thanks for the help.

I had the same problem. I received an childish response from tech support (webmaster)? Instead of customer service, I got you don't have this, you don't have that. After signing under a third username and the Email confirmation finally worked through vBulletin.com. It was very frustrating.

That's coz they don't do the http:// bit so it adds the link to the end of the www.vbulletin.org/forum/ URL. Only copy, paste and delete the vb.org bit works in these cases.

nah, I just typed www.google.com and here's the html...

HTML Code:

<tr><td class="vbmenu_option">
<a href="http://www.google.com">Visit Jenta's homepage!</a>
</td></tr>

It's removed now so you wont see it.

peterska2 11-22-2005 12:22 AM

on some it doesn't work though. Might be where it is like forums.site.ext or something. I know that if they dont www. it and just go site.ext then it adds vb.org to the start

Jenta 11-22-2005 12:23 AM

yep, ur right

kewl1uk 11-24-2005 08:10 PM

Thanks everyone. Works when I miss out the http:// but doesn't work when I enter http:// Hmmm, doesn't do a lot for ppl with subdomains who don't have a www. I still think it's a bug

Xenon 11-24-2005 09:30 PM

nope it's because you are surely not the admin of google.com

that's not a bug :D

I could be couldn't I? Anyway my homepage is a sub-domain so it doesn't work in my profile.

amykhar 11-25-2005 03:51 PM

Am I the only one who is very reluctant to support people who don't show their real forums? I always feel like I'm dealing with a spammer, a porn site or a warez site. Also makes it hard to debug if they have problems.

Probably

peterska2 11-25-2005 08:39 PM

I find it annoying as you have little or no way of finding out what version, as these folks don't put it in their profile, or never update it.

Simply put, you don't tell me where your site is and the version, then I don't help.

Or they just put in something like "3.5" leaving out the final digit so you still have no idea.

peterska2 11-25-2005 08:50 PM

At least that gives you a rough clue though so you can guess more accurately

But what if, for example, they put in "3.5" and they're running beta 4 and your hack is designed for the 3.5.0 Gold or 3.5.1 Gold?

peterska2 11-25-2005 08:56 PM

Then they are just asking for problems. If they say 3.0 or 3.5 then I always take that to mean the x.x.0 Gold version. (3.0.0 or 3.5.0)
