What is the product for?
WAP is a highly demanded feature of the Chinese customers so I write the plugin.
The plugin is for any vB forums which would like their members browsing them with mobile device. It is able to detect mobile device correctly and provide narrow page output for mobile.
Currently there's only a style for WAP 2.0 devices, that means the plugin doesn't support WAP 1.x/WML device now.

Installation
1. Unzip.
2. Upload and import the product "product-wap-en.xml".
3. Upload and import the style "vbulletin-style-wap.xml". Remember to select NO for "Allow User Selection".
4. Go to "vBulletin Settings" -> "WAP settings" and change "Default WAP 2.0 Style" to "WAP 2.0".
5. Browse your vB forum with your mobile.

Create a new style for WML 1.x device.

BTW: Where did you get your emmulator? Nokia I assume? ;) Do you have link? I think many more would test this for you if they had easy access to one.

It has a free download and seems pretty sweet. I dont know anything about WAP - but the author does state its for WAP2... the above looks like it circa 1974 maybe thats why its not working :P

yes, not sure if that browser is 'wap 1' or 'wap 2' and how much work needs to be done to tweak the style right.

Still love the concept! Maybe Pig can clue us in.

I try to visit your site with my Nokia 3230 and it does work :)
You can't see any effort from IE/Firefox. So test it using your mobile.

You must install both Nokia Mobile Browser Simulator 4.0 and Nokia WAP Gateway Simulator 4.0 to make it work.

WAP 1 uses WML 1.x:

I have Import the PlugIn and i create a new Style named WAP 2.0 i have choice the WAP 2.0 for WAP 2.0 on the VB settings but i have take an ERROR.

I have test it with WinWap emulator and with my Mobile Phone (Imate Jam Win2003) but nothing.

So what error did you get? The error information will help to solve the problem.

That emulator support WAP 1.x only. use Nokia Emulator instead.

you can use any mobile phone that support WAP 2.0 or XHTML. Check the mobile sites for details.

007, you mentioned all you need to do for WAP1 is create a style for it (i think)?

If thats true, would you have any idea on how long it will be (very roughly speaking of course!). I really like what you have done - but it looks like most of my users would need a solution for 1.0 not 2.0

OMG this is the best!

Hey Geek, writing a style for WAP 1 would be an arduous task. It uses 'cards' as opposed to pages, completely different to XHTML. I did begin with vB2, but gave up when I realised what a collossal task it would be. A Wap 2 style could be done through a few hours search and replace, you'd have to write WML from scratch.

i installed it, when trying to access teh forum on my treo 650, it says,

"There seems to hae been a problem with the mysite.com database. Please try again , clicking the refresh button ......etc "

why is this?

Ok, now i figured it out ... made the new style a child of my main one and it worked.
