Question about the vB.org Mod/Hack System
 

Hi,

I've looked around the forum and used the search forum (tho prolly with the wrong words), but couldnt find the plugin/hack which is used in this forum for displaying the Hacks. I mean the combination of having the first post in a thread visible on all pages and the sideboxes with the download links and install/uninstall.

Anybody know where to get that one, and more important if its available for 3.5.X ?

We havn't released the code we use here. But members have made this modification themselves for multiple versions, the one for 3.5.x can be found here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=93706

It uses the stock postbit layout however.

I guess a release of the code you guys developed is not in the books in the near future. And a similar combination First post/downloads/install-uninstall isnt available somewhere here as well.

I will be remaking my install hack that i made on vb 3.0.7 that I had handed a copy of to vbhackers.com. I will be bringing that back for my site. As well as quite a few other nice things. Talk to me and I can see if I can help you out.

Such a thing really isn't necessary with the release of vBulletin 3.5.0 unless it was compatible with the existing XML file format.

Wayne, I think you misunderstood Chris ;)

He doesn't mean a Hack installer but smth. like the "Install"-Hack we are using here (eg. users can click install, installcounts listed, update-emails, etc.)

Or did I misunderstand him?

I think he might have ment a hack installer miss reading our first posts. I think we are all a bit unsure right now lol.

Correct Andreas - A system of "Install/Uninstall" hack, notification of who has installed, the install count and the ability to send updates :)

My main development work is unavailable for at least the next few days as my server is offline; I sadly managed to delete almost all my work offline (that's windows for you :rolleyes::() but I hope to be able to release it if there is call for it within the next week :)

I guess I'm not the only one interested in this type of hack, and unfortunatly I dont have the time at the moment to attempt and start coding something like that myself.

How is the current state of affairs as far as this Mod/Hack goes ?

My server is still offline so I cannot access my files - As soon as I get access to the server again I shall document it and release it :)

no news, no result... you're not the only one to make that request...

and 2 minutes taken to answer your request will make them a 2 minutes lost on coding...

Why don't you release the code?

the usual answer for this here is that each coder can release his own codes, but the vB.org team is not releasing code that was built specifically for this site... it is like exclusive work, and i know what it is, freelancers do that also...

Until I can access my server my site is suspended - There are ISP issues with Tiscali and BT Internet in the UK that do not allow a HTTP or FTP connection to my server, whereas users from other ISPs such as Pipex, Blueyonder and even NTL can access it...

I cannot get an estimate on when this issue will be addressed as my ISP is not contacting me back from the support issue I left over 1 week ago - At this rate I estimate it will be after Christmas before it is solved...

I live with my 'rents to. My dad has a hot-tub and a tanning bed, so it isn't hard to trick the ladies into coming over. ;)
