suggestion to all hackers and mod creators
 

i dunno if its just me or what, but i just converted my board BACK to 3.0.8 because 3.5.0 was giving me problems up the wall with the previous hacks i had, and i was tryin to put the new ones on.

so my suggestion is you guys put uninstall options for 3.0.x work in 3.5.0 hacks, cuz to go though the install codes of all older hacks and remove mysql tables and phrases is just such a task.

only thing that worked for me, and who knows if it was right, was the vbagallery and homepage. i couldnt get like 5 hacks to install and work, everytime i added a product my index.php would have a error on it or it would error on installing the product, then it wouldnt let me remove the product so i had to go into phpmyadmin and manually remove it from products table, and remove what it added.....

True, but from our perspective, it's also a task (much harder so) to write an uninstall script.

well most of the hacks come with uninstall options, it shouldnt be to difficult to port them over to 350 status inside the new hack....

There's not a huge percentage of people downgrading from 3.5 to 3.0.x so I don't see a demand for it. It's just time being wasted that could be spent on other things.

Products have the uninstall feature - if anything you should be switching to 3.5 due to portability issues.

not to downgrade from 3.5 to 3.0, to uninstall hacks being ported to 3.5, there should be a option to remove 3.0x hacks.

I see... I think. You just want to reverse the changes it made to the database? I was feeling like this from v2 to v3, in the end I decided it wasn't worth the effort. What harm can it do? I also found that before I knew it, the hacks I'd given up on were converted [even from v3 to v3.5] and my old data remains intact. :)

But don't you normally want to import your information for the old hack to the new board? Even if you don't you can just load the upgrade product and then uninstall it.

but i guess some things can be imported...like the AWS im getting a problem with and the shoutbox i guess...
